I am tackling the comparison of 7 different brands of foil today. I will be using them all in my Cricut Explore Air 2 with the Cricut Foil Transfer tool. Which will transfer to my paper? Which won't? Find out what brands of foil work best with the Cricut foil tool so you know which to purchase for your projects.

seems to me for the foils that works but not as well you just need to change it to the debossing tool and add more pressure or even the scoring pen

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I’ve had my maker a couple of months and love the foil transfer. I was wondering about trying other foils. I’m in the UK and the Cricut foil sheets are selling out very quickly so it’s difficult to get hold of them. Heigh ho!

You might be able to use a thicker material setting for the WRMK/Minc ones? Then it may push down harder and get a bit better on transfer. However, the others I don't think it will work well at all. I am not sure if the material you would waste trying to get it to work would eat up anything you would save, however. I think you would be better off buying up the Cricut foil when it is on sale.

Hi, I have heard that the cricut foil tool works well with Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil - not shown - I will give it ago and report back :-) £4.99 for a 5 meter roll.

@@AngieHolden I have tested Gemini foil press and Spellbinders glimmer hot foil system and they have come out better than I expected. I used 'more' pressure and my white card stock was 300gsm v smooth. I will definitely be stocking up. Wish I could show you a pic. 😁

Do you have a video on what types of cardstock the foil transfer tool will work best with? (i.e. Textured, smooth, etc.) I have been playing around with it all weekend and it just won't adhere to the cardstock I have. I've followed all the instructions, pulled the foil tight, play around with applying more pressure, but nothing seems to work :(

I don't have a video but I have been playing with some lately. It seems that some cardstocks just do not work. I haven't actually narrowed down to what works and what doesn't yet though.

Angie, If my foil skips, am I able to push the blinking "C" again before unloading to have the Cricut transfer again right on top?

The answer is yes and no. If you are doing JUST foil, then you could do that. But most of the time you will be say foiling and cutting. If you do a second pass in that case, it will both foil and cut again which you would not want as it will dig into your mat. Plus I am not sure what going over the foil a second time will do since this process literally removes it from the sheet and puts it on your material. I don't think I would recommend it.

The only thing you can do is pick a different base material and see if that makes a difference.

I am confused why would the adhesive foil work if there was no adhesive? Or was the test just to see if you could use it without the adhesive?

The test was as she stated ; to see if those foils would work successfully with the Cricut foil transfer tool as people were asking if they could use those types of foils with this tool. As a courtesy, she completed the testing confirming only Cricut foils work successfully.

I tried the cricut foil tool today. But when i ran my finger across the design, i got a lot of glitter or foil on my hands. Is this normal? Or is it because i used the wrong paper?

I have this issue with some paper. It just doesn't work with some types of paper at all.

@@AngieHolden i think i just used the wrong paper or setting for the paper. I tried the cricut cardstock and it turned out beautiful :D
