Gen 3 has rapid charging and regen, that's supposed to be faster than anything ever seen on the road but FIA also have an Electric GT class will supposedly have that tech and then some.
Electric GT has been touted for years, all we saw was a modified Tesla and a continually delayed season because they didn't have the money to run the series; and the races were going to be really short and on traditional purpose built racetracks. The Electric Production Car Series (It's current incarnation) has been announced by the FIA, but there is still no calendar or anything. So I'm skeptical that we'll see that fast charging in action any time soon.
It's just a shame the tracks they race these cars on are so dire. It personally puts me off from following the series Hopefully in the future we will start seeing them on some proper race circuits. Oh and get rid of fan boost!
I used to think this way but I have realised that formula e works best when it's in a city centre and racing in streets . I think this is a formula e trademark which defines it. I like the idea of racing in the centre of the city which no other series can do. I think it's great and electric cars work well in a city which makes perfect sense.
It's also a problem for the fans to watch a formula E race on a track. They have a small fanbase and forcing that fanbase and interested onlookers to pay for an entire ticket in those big circuits would kill that. Having them in cities allows the small fanbase more interaction.
I have no issue with commuters and non-car people driving high powered golf carts. I enjoy the input, joy and satisfaction of using both hands and both feet.
@@No-le9qf looking forward to going to that one next year! Going to travel all the way from Chicago to see it! And probably the one in Texas as well later next year!
I started watching formula e this year and watched all the races before they went to the other side of the pond! But I'm back for the season showdown after London!!!
I gave this sport another go but i cannot handle the amount of pointless chaos that happens. Im not a big fan of the strategic options teams have either but im always intrigued by the electric tech they have
I tried. But Formula E is SOOOOOOO boring!!! And here's the thing...Batteries are NOT the future. These cars are just Betamax machines. When will there be hydrogen or a mix of Hydrogen and Electric?
If you think Batteries are not the future, you are unfortunately going to be extremely disappointed with Hydrogren. Hydrogen has extremely poor metrics with regards to mass rollouts and the power requirements that would cause. It is a really inefficient way to transfer energy
