It was the idea and concept of evercade that sold me on the system. But the main games that definitely made me want to buy it. The Oliver twins collection and the Atari lynx collections. Reasons being. We hardly ever get any kind of Dizzy collections on home consoles whatsoever so to have an actual physical collection of some Oliver twins classics was a must have for me. And the fact that blaze was the only one's putting out a couple of lynx collections was enough to make me want them.

To be honest I was sold from the start. I picked up the OG Evercade Handheld Starter Pack with Namco Museum Collection 1 being the pack-in cart. Obviously I noticed that these were the NES versions which I was a bit disappointed with at first but then thought, actually this is quite cool and this helped manage my expectations for future cart releases. I quickly picked up the first Atari, Data East and Interplay carts and the rest, as they say, is history ... or is it? Console Carts 31-39 were, in the main, a big disappointment for me and I was about to give up on Blaze until they go and announce an EXP-R and Tomb Raider Collection Giga Cart pack-in game. Let's see what the future holds :-) Great video as always!

Very similar to a lot of commentators on here - it was the concept of the Evercade and the VS which sold me on it - especially with the release of the arcade carts. And the very reasonable price was the cherry on top!

For me it wasn't any single game or cartridge that sold me on Evercade. For me it was more the concept and the potential. I first learned about Evercade around October 2020 from a gaming website - I can't remember which one now. But the idea of a new cartridge based retro system with officially licensed, curated retro and modern retro games really appealed to me as I'm a huge proponent of physical media, even today. I only buy physical games for my PS5 for example. It also helped that the cartridges were numbered because that made it easy to collect for. Anyway my girlfriend got me the 10 cartridge mega bundle from Funstock for Christmas 2020, and I've continued to support the brand ever since. I have a founders edition VS, which still sits under my TV in the living room, next to my PS5. I also have the limited edition EXP, and a purple original handheld, although this doesn't work, and was faulty on arrival. I did get my money back, and oddly they didn't ask for the unit back. Although I've lost some enthusiasm recently due to the many cartridge and software issues recently, I still have a full collection and because of the poor QA at Blaze with the hardware (purple handheld that was DOA and my first limited EXP was also faulty and was replaced) I'm not planning on buying any new hardware, because I don't trust Blaze as much as I once did, and I may not collect the games for much longer either as I'm seeing more and more reports of people with older carts that just stop working for no apparent reason. All mine work so far though, although I've had to get my fair share of replacements following dodgy updates! It's been a rollercoaster that's for sure. On the one hand it's been great being part of this little community and seeing the Evercade brand evolve - who honestly expected that it would still be going strong nearly 4 years after launch? On the other hand it's been tarnished by poor hardware and lack of QA. But so far the good is outweighing the bad, even if the bad is catching up 😂

The thing that made me buy an Evercade was the release of the VS. I still don't have a handheld Evercade. The cart that intially got me interested in the Evercade overall was cart #3, Data East Collection 1. The inclusion of Midnight Resistence specifically perked my interest. I still think it's a great cart and the console carts are still my preference over the arcade carts. I think a lot of arcade games don't translate to home use so well, especially games that respawn you exactly where you die even after using a continue. It basically means you have to artificially limit continues to get any kind of challenge. Arcade games with checkpoints work fine with unlimited continues because you still have to beat a section without dying. BreakThru on the Data East Arcade cart was particularly fun in this way. Getting off topic though.

An interesting question Crazy Burger. But I think I came to the Evercade due to buying the c64, when it was first released! I was so hyped by it, but ultimately felt I was let down. I thought it very poor. With mostly “filler” type games on it! Also adding games to it by SD seemed too complicated to spend my time doing. 🤔. It was only searching online, and finding RU-vidrs like yourself. That lead to hearing about the Evercade OG. It must of been fate, or timing? But I think Blaze was offering something that hit all the buttons for me! 😊. Not sure it’s all about a “specific” collection though which gets people hooked into the Evercade? Maybe it’s to do with showing how Blaze is thinking or willing to think! In the Collections they release! 🤔. For example. That OLIVIA TWINS collection. Really got people fired up for the types of Home Computer collections we see today! 🤔. Certainly for UK audiences. But it offered some new for people outside of this region too! 👍. The Evercade offers so much range beyond just ONE type of collection that you are are into. Sometimes though… it’s that NOT the collection you are after. But that ONE game on it that you really want!… CREATURES! 😊❤️

Thanks for the video Crazy Burger I got into the Evercade fairly early - I don’t remember exactly when, but I think there were only maybe 6 or 7 cartridges at that time. I ran across evercade completely on accident and from what I can recall it wasn’t a game that sold me but rather the system itself - I collect old games in physical form (be it repro carts or the original) and buy generally prefer playing them on more modern hardware, and as much as I would like to play on consoles I end up playing on portable devices most of the time. When I learned about a new system with games in cartridges format that was going to specialize in collections and would even have some arcade games, I knew right away this was for me

The Irem Arcade 1 made me choose the Vs. I would like to see more carts like this. I'm personally not into console and computer carts like the Atari/MSX etc, so I'll thin out my collection soon. As I still have two full working C64 systems (The C64C-II (Pet chars below the letters and the SID 8580) and a C64G)) those carts are a waste for me to buy. Honestly, I wanted a cheap and easy system to play the old arcade games i were playing in my local grill when I were a teen. It's a shame there's too many "nonsense" Nintendo and Nintendo 64/Atari/Intellivision/Lynx stuff, and even a game like Speedball II who became famous on the Amiga, is a lame ar*e port from another system. Most Amiga games released on cart are mostly from other platforms, right? -One thing is for sure, if this continues, I'll stop supporting Blaze.

@OM19_MO79

The concept was what sold me. The first offerings were almost nothing special, the usual suspects minus 1 (Atari, Technos, Jaleco, Data East, minus Irem), some "meh" hasbeens with some interesting games (Interplay) and one that you could already get anywhere but had some nice exclusive (even today) treats (Namco). The future of it was what sealed the deal and it really paid off... At least for me because I knew from the beginning what to expect and what not to. There were some surprises along the way and the Indie developers backing this is what has made this ecosystem so special. I think is harder for me to say which is the best, but instead, is very easy for me to say which are the worst 3: Worms Collection, Bitmap Brothers and Sidney Hunter. It's not because of the amount of games but the quality of them. You'll hate me for this but Worms and Speedball are not for everyone, especially if you're not British.

When the Evercade EXP was opened for pre-orders that made me join on board as I liked all of the improvements. I was also happy that they were able to sign Capcom to license some games even if they were pre-installed. As a side note, I have never personally had any issues with my Evercade with performance or reliability. The Atari 50th Anniversary Collection for Switch got me into Evercade. I had Best Buy rewards that were going to expire, and I saw the Atari collection was on sale, so I went to order it. But then the Best Buy site suggested I might also like the Evercade, so I decided to look for more info on RU-vid. This was maybe a couple days after they dropped their E3 style or Nintendo Direct style presentation. I knew about the VS, but when I first heard about it, it was mostly console games, and the library was small, so I ignored it and kind of forgot about it. Once I saw they added arcade games, computer games, way more indie/homebrew stuff, and some more obscure consoles that don't constantly get collections (like Lynx and Intellivision), I felt like I finally had a reason to be excited about it. My only regret is missing out of a few early collection like Technos 1, and maybe Piko 1.

By the way, I think I pretty much know what is ahead for us and it all comes down to three names: Piko, Retro Games and Embracer. Embracer is the reason why we got Asteborg, Toaplan, Duke Nukem and Tomb Raider. This means we are likely to have a Toaplan 3 and something from Core or Eidos, posibly Gex, Soul Raver or some odd collection from Core (Sega CD versions, maybe?). However, it also points to the next in line for a legacy cart and those would be the Duke's carts since Embracer let go Gearbox last December, just a few weeks after we got the games. We are possibly gonna get more old micros collections, most likely The 800 Collection 1, with some reservations with the use of the Atari brand and like 70% repeats from the recently released mini. If we are lucky, we'll get a couple of single or dual indie releases which, just like last year, will add two slots after many of us get annoyed by Piko 5 and another Piko cart with subpar arcade games (they ran out of Gaelco). Natsume, Irem, console Atari, Midway, NMK, UPL, Nichibutsu, Konami and Taito should be out ot the question as they or their owners don't have plans to license outside the mainstream consoles (Hamster likes to work alone and WBD either don't care or don't even know what they have). Capcom could still be a possibility after Blaze statements, but, is it necessary? The 3 consoles have all or Capcom's arcade games (with some exceptions due to licensing), so the best Blaze could get are console games. The same problem with SNK, worse if you ask me. Their games are everywhere. Almost all their games, including console, are in the 3 consoles and PC and the Neo Geo games... how many times do you need to buy all the KOF, FF, SS, and MS series? Any of the minis are around the price of an Evercade cart. No, we will never get 3rd party NG games, too much double licensing and few reasons to get them... Visco, perhaps, but, again, everywhere also. Considering the three brands mentioned above and the remaining slots, it's pretty much safe to say the "big names" wishes of many are not gonna be fulfilled this year.

Solid cart. Enjoyed that one too. Definitely up there with the best. Incredible that we've not had more data East. Other than the arcade cart.

While I had an interest in Evercade when it was first announced, it was the Oliver Twins and Atari Lynx Collections that really sold me on it. The Dizzy games and titles for the Lynx always seem to get ignored when it comes to rereleases, and I'd always wanted to try them. As soon as I first saw those carts, I swore to myself that an Evercade would be the first thing I buy once I got a new job. In June of 2021, I did indeed get a new job, and sure enough as soon as I got my first paycheck I made sure to get that Evercade!

There was no single collection that did it for me. More of a critical mass type situation. I watched several Platform32 streams of new carts coming out. I hadn't heard of hardly any of the games, but lots of em looked like good fun. I finally went for it when Jaleco Arcade/Gaelco Arcade 2 came out. I thought to myself "I'll just get the handheld and a couple of carts I don't really have room for a new collection." Well that didn't last long - I think it was maybe 2 weeks before I ordered a VS.

For me it was Piko1 and it will always irk me that all these years later and I still think that cart is head and shoulders better than the rest in terms of variety, number of games offered and quality. Renovation comes in second and gave me hope we'd see more carts like that but it's been the only one so far in my opinion.

The super pocket kinda sold me on it with some great carts out indie heroes 3 and Goodboy galaxy. They definitely need to keep getting old classics and getting newer indie games on here such a good device for it

Maybe off-topic but it does annoy me just how seemingly quickly certain collections become 'legacy', and therefore the asking price ramps up.
