Remember, Goodwill is NOT an organization that helps people, it is strictly profit driven and much of the donations it gets it throws out. Donate to a women's shelter or thrift stores that the profit goes to a local food bank. Thanks for sharing.

I worked at a goodwill for 3 years. I do agree that we "threw away" a lot of things... But all the clothes had holes and stains and whatever else that is not good quality products... But they hire people with a criminal history something that a lot of employers look down on. They also employed homeless.. Best part though, I live in Texas when we had that really bad hurricane we sent 4 big trailers of donations that were not even gone through..

@@monkeymonk69 I just went through a Goodwill dumpster and there were legit 7 coffee makers with intentionally cut cords. They looked fine otherwise. My guess is that they were perfectly fine until Goodwill got to them. I looked up one at random and it had a $100 resale value.

The classroom supply list per student each year is unreal. Why can't the teachers recycle it for the next year? I told my daughters teachers that if they needed papertowels, hand sanitizer, boxes of tissues...to just send a note home with my daughter. There is no way 33 kids bringing in 3 boxes of tissues each will that teacher need more before years end. Unreal...

I volunteer at a local elementary school, and have a few insights here. The stuff is thrown away in bulk like that because schools often dump one program/curriculum for a newer one. I have helped wheel out carts full of "outdated" reading and math comprehension, and learning materials. It is wasteful, and expensive ! The markers and crayons are generally trashed by the end of the year, the teacher I work with donates hers to the afterschool program, or the art class, we never throw those out. You are not very likely to find a computer, at least where I am(I have installed, and uninstalled quite a few). The schools will lot up the old computers and send them as well as good furniture, and materials to a centralized resource warehouse that redistributes, or let`s be honest, probably tosses out behind closed doors these assets. At "my school" teachers leave unwanted cool stuff in the hallway or front lobby, and the pickin is pretty good. I haven`t bought copy paper for a good 10 years!

I just watched your video on what you found in school dumpsters. It hurts my heart to see it. As a former teacher knowing some schools don't have enough books to go around then to see how many they tossed terrible. Why don't they donate them to the schools and children who need them so much! Keep exploring the waist and misuse of taxpayer money!❤ 😊

Hi Stacey, shave cream is used to clean the students desk to get all the stains and marks off before school starts. You haven't seen half of what gets put in the garbage when school gets out. Our teachers put some things in the middle of the rooms and trade back and forth with each other. All new crayons and markers, lunch bags, paper towels, scissors, are put in the garbage. ANYTHING the students give the teacher at the end of the year. Nice awakening all parents should be made aware of this. I used to have yard sales with all the stuff they would throw away. Made a killing in money. Good luck, SaNdY

Alcohol will also take off Sharpie marker. The tuna cans were prolly left over from a teachers quick grab lunch stash. My sister works in housekeeping at a university and it's mind blowing the waste that happens at the end of a school year from the classrooms, and even more mind blowing the waste that happens from the students in the dorms. Most buy new every year and throw away at the end of the year, and I'm not talking about just school supplies, I'm talking about dorm furnishings. Microwaves, bedding, clothes, other electronics, tons of plastic storage containers and shelving units, food, mini refrigeraters, lamps, wall décor.....pretty much any and everything one would need to deck out there dorm room for a nine month stay away from home. Can you imagine the added debt incurred on the loans they get, that they will have to pay back eventually for that stuff? Today's modern "disposable" world.....it's crazy!!

My heart sinks to see so much paper put to landfill when it could be recycled 😥. I’m really surprised that such a huge developed country like the USA doesn’t recycle more. Over here in scotland all school and local council paper is recycled, as is most other local government waste. Most resources are reused year after year( unless broken or out of date) 80% of All our household waste is recycled. We have 4 different coloured household wheelie bins which are emptied fortnightly. brown - garden and food waste, this is collected and used to make compost in huge anaerobic digesters. Green- plastic and cans. Gray- paper and cardboard. Small blue- landfil( emptied only once a month)All these things . We also have a a lot recycling depots where we can take bulk waste for recycling. all kinds of glass including lightbulbs, car batteries, garden rubble, electrical, wood, bushes and trees, metal, domestic appliances, bycicles etc etc can be taken and all is recycled. It is very much frowned upon if we don’t recycle. In fact the council fines people who don’t recycle. We are by no means perfect, mainland Europe is shit hot on recycling and way ahead of us. It’s great that you and Stacy take time to look thru big dumpsters and liberate things that are still good and can be reused or sold on. Your kids won’t be short on school supplies this year, that’s for sure. Love to all your family 🤗💕🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What I am thinking which is sad is the schools have yearly budgets. If they don't spend the budget, the next year, the budget is less. So they throw things out to keep the budget up. As far as the gifts to the teacher, multiply the gifts each gift giving time by the number of students. I agree don't throw it away, but give, but obviously they don't give. Very true about goodwill. I was an assistant teacher we would have loved to have those idea books and some of the other books and to buy them they were expensive, if you find some next year you all could donate that stuff to a poorer school in your area or sell them in a yard sale or give them to another teacher

I worked at schools as a custodian for 20 yrs,and between cleaning out lockers and what the teachers threw away I supplied my kids and grandkids and half of the neighborhood with stuff ,cases of elders glue, pencils not even used, rulers, folders, not to mention the lost and found stuff no one claimed,..You would not have found too much if you had come to my school,sorry...not sorry 🤣😁
