This week, for your listening pleasure, we present Ross MacDonald from The 1975 @rass1975. We discuss early life in the band, coping with tourlife and how un-rock'n'roll life seems to be these days. Enjoy.
The year was 2014, and I was working as a artist runner at the Boston Calling festival. I was assigned to pick them up at the airport and be their dedicated driver that night and the next day when they played. Had only heard of them by name, and one of my coworkers had written them off as “kiddie pop.” Ended up hitting it off with them (primarily Matty and George) straightaway. Showed them a bunch of music they’d never heard (like Animals as Leaders) and had a blast hangin with them and tossin back a few pints at the hotel bar when I was done with my shift. Seriously top notch blokes. Saw them play for the first time the next day, and 6 years later they’re one of my all time faves. Know all the words and love each record in different ways. One of the greatest bands of our generation. Thanks for this rare opportunity to hear from Ross. 🙏
Was really hoping Ross' answer to the last question 'What would you say to your younger self?' would be 'growing a beards quite hard and whisky never starts to taste nice!'
I never thought i could finally see Ross doing the interview on his own without the other boys. As far as i can remember, he was the only member who has never doing an interview completely alone. CMIIW. I'm glad to hear The 1975 perspective from Ross' side. This is his band too, after all. Also, the interview with Ross is more enjoyable and fun compared to Matty's lol. Tysm for giving us this! x
At the last The 1975 of the decade Indianapolis Dec 13 2019. Ross pounded at least 6 beers. Had a huge smile the whole show. Especially when he had a fresh beer.
THANK YOU for giving us the first solo Ross interview! It was so interesting and entertaining to hear his point of view in their story, tour, and everything else... He's my favorite member and this definitely made my week💞
As a viewer who would love the opportunity to interview Ross about his musical experiences and the 1975/his role, I feel to say that "you didn't have time" to listen to his album prior to the interview is quite a wasted opportunity and disrespectful.
caught this on the day it premiered but felt too shy to comment then because ross is my favorite member! it's so nice to finally see him get a full interview, and especially one where he seemed to be having so much fun! he's got such a nice laugh and my favorite bits were definitely the ones where he talks about being a plant dad and how he basically just knows how to play the bass on the guitar lol. hope I can watch him perform live someday! 💖
I watch this over and over again because ross is a fucking hubby material. I'm screaming. and excuse me sir, your voice should be illegal. goddamn I'm on my knees.
"how many albums you've done now? four? five?" ross: this is the... *started processing the question with a confused face* dude forgot how many albums his own band has made. what a dork!
