What gun and what scope is best at what level? Something that most people will be wondering as they work their way through the lengthy process of leveling up in King of the Hill. I give my recommendations for Marksman perk weapons and suitable scopes in this video, including explanations as to why. Some of the level may not be correct as they change a bit over time and I can't see the levels of guns I've already unlocked, but I'm hopefully not too far out. I hope you find this useful.

How to Play King of the Hill:
King of the Hill does not require any mods to play (unless you want to play a modded map or RHS koth). Just type 'King of the Hill' in the mission section of the search filter. Infantry only servers will have "INFANTRY ONLY" or possibly "INF" in the server name. Look for servers running the v13 version of King of the Hill, but everyone's stats were reset for the update to v10. Some servers such as Hostile Takeover have started their own version of koth and there has been no stat wipe on those servers if you can't deal with the wipe. Just watch out for those servers running xp and money multipliers, you could loose your stats from playing on these servers.

As it says in the description some of the levels may not be correct as they change a bit over time and I can't see the levels of guns I've already unlocked, but I'm hopefully not too far out. @@Tezni Hey dude. Yeah, the MXM is good too, but I would recommend just staying with the Rahim instead until you can get something better. I am one of those people that generally goes by 'higher caliber = better' in Arma 3.

@@multicopemulticop5989 Yeah, that's a good idea. I've been using the DMS more and more recently. It's now my preferred scope for most weapons, I still use the AMS a lot too, but the DMS seems to be better for most situations in koth.

I stopped playing KOTH a year ago(9.2) , i was lvl 110~ and i loved everything about it. I used to snipe alot (M320 and Lynx) [LRPS] and later on i only flew jets and attacked in Tanks. Sadly i sold my PC, but know i am planning to buy a new PC.. just for playing Arma 3 :) Greetings from Germany

Man much has changed with this, I use to play a long time ago when the game first came out! Notice a ton of paid DLC on steam but it seems this stuff can also(either or?) be bought with the in game xp and money? Kinda confused now and not sure where to start, awesome video mate!!! A friend wants to start playing so I better do some research cause all I have is base game right now. Take care my friend

I'm a huge fan of using the m320 with a dmr scope and using it in closer ranges like 100-300 meters Gives me the option of counter sniping on the objective to deal with pesky long range snipers Plus with the bullet velocity and 1hit kill on almost every hit (even ankles) you can cover a road from a window and drop squads coming down a road or alley relatively quickly I spend more time prone in the open than I should but so far it's been a huge success

I have a guilty pleasure of shooting helis as they come into AO with the Lynx. It's an excellent way to earn money and XP as soon as you hit level 50. All you do is tag the vehicle at least once and you'll get an assist. I try for the pilot or engine. And if you're lucky and they crash you'll get all the kills :3

I wish there was a complete weapon stats list and examples of all the scopes somewhere. I'm making my own spreadsheet for it but it's hard to find a lot of the info like muzzle attachments, muzzle velocity ect.

Hey dude. Indeed I wish the same. It is very difficult to find out all the info and BI do not release the info themselves and I believe they don't want to the info to be public as it keeps things a bit more realistic I guess. It's possible that Arma adds slight randomness to damage as well, but that's just speculation on my part. The devs of koth don't have the info available either, just a list of all guns in the game and their price, but nothing further. I also wish there was a list of all teehe things you can earn xp and money from in koth and how much you get, but that info is not available anywhere either as far as I'm aware.

Muzzle velocities can be found just google the weapon system. It's quick easy and you get to find out so much about weapons which conflicts they've been used in calibre, weight, which company developed it and why etc. It's fascinating.

There is some data on the mk14 vs mk18 vs spar-17 vs mk-1. Found them online but didnt test if they are still up to date. Mk18 ABR Rounds per minute: 705 Dispersion: 0.0007 (how precise it is - lower is better) Muzzle Velocity: 800ms-1 (how fast the bullet leaves the rifle) Inertia: 0.69 (how easily it is to aim - lower is better) Dexterity: 1.3 (Ditto - higher is better) Mass: 180 (How much it weighs) MK-I EMR Rounds per minute: 600 Dispersion: 0.0005 Muzzle Velocity: 940ms-1 Inertia: 0.8 Dexterity: 1.6 Mass: 220 Mk14 Rounds per minute: 705 Dispersion: 0.0009 Muzzle Velocity: 800ms-1 Inertia: 0.69 Dexterity: 1.67 Mass: 140 SPAR-17 Rounds per minute: 600 Dispersion: 0.0005 Muzzle Velocity: 900ms-1 Inertia: 0.8 Dexterity: 1.2 Mass: 160 The Mk14 is the lightest one so it has the most recoil, while the Mk-1 is the heaviest one with the least recoil.

Hello Thanks for the video it helped me greatly. What was not included however is the price of the rifles for permanent purchase? I am currently level 47 and I want to start sniping. I don't know if it would be best to wait and save to get the Lynx at level 50 or get a Cyrus now and use it to make money. What I want to do is use a rocket launcher and laser designated to destroy tanks and the Lynx would be good to hit helos as they fly over but if it's $1M or something crazy expensive I won't wait. Can you help?

Hey dude. The prices do change a little from time to time and some weapons can not be permanently purchased, but I believe the APDS Lynx is $300,000. The problem with the APDS Lynx is that you need to be lvl 50 for the gun, but you still need to be a much higher lvl again to put a decent scope on it. Maybe lvl 75-80 ish to be able to put on a LRPS scope which is the one I would recommend. The Cyrus is a great weapon to use as well and it can be fitted with a suppressor, but its' not as long range as the Lynx. For Long range sniping the M320 is just as good as the Lynx, if not better and can be purchased with LRPS scope at a much lower lvl than the APDS Lynx. Most people (including me) only prefer the APDS Lynx because of the armor piercing bullets. You have to be within 1.5K of your target for the APDS rounds to do their full damage though so if you're sniping infantry from 1.5K+ then the M320 is still great and indeed some people would prefer it over the APDS Lynx in that situation. I spotted wierd thing with MM perk scopes and Assault Rifles, for example DMS scope requirements are weapon unlock lvl + 10, type 115 AR is available from lvl 24, so DMS should be available from 34 lvl, but its available from 51 lvl, is this intended, or MM scopes have this huge lvl penalization for ARs?

Hey dude. Yeah, at least one other person has mentioned that they couldn't access a scope at the lvl listed on the web site and that was for a Zafir. I can't actually see the lvl for something once I've unlocked it so I can't check myself. I assumed it was just that some levels were not listed correctly, but it could be as you mentioned and the lvl is higher for a MM scope if not on a MM gun. I'm not sure though.

i have to say i respectfully disagree with you about the m14. it us a great weapon for sitting in a bush with a silencer. you are right about the recoil but i have found if you use it enough you can deal with it- Nit3mare 2021 (m14 player)

Hi guts....just returmed to arma3 KOTH. Im lvl 34 and i can't get any sniper scope ore gun...they are closed. Is it bug ?

Hey dude. As Shadowboy says, you need the Marksman perk. You will also need to be high enough lvl, at 34 I think you can get the M320, but not the APDS Lynx for example.

The scope you're using on the ASP-1 is Russian the graticules beneath the centre dots (moving left to right) relate to a target standing at different ranges as you can see with practise you can accurately engage targets up to 1 KM away. Also rounds that travel slower than the speed of sound are called subsonic. I've used this same scope on DayZ without zeroing to take out targets up to 400 metres. The arrows relate to the scale moving left to right making target acquisition and ranging fast and efficient. Meaning you don't need a range finder. The reason the arrows start at 200 M is this is a bullets highest trajectory when fired meaning that bellow 200 M the round will always hit the target as long as the green arrow is on the target, be it slightly lower than the green triangle (range affects this massively) in a room a round fired centre of mass may hit stomach/groin due to the round not having time to climb. This is increased by the fact the sight and barrel are not aligned at close range.

ASP-1 is great for close range, i would even say the best, the MK's are okay.

Indeed. The M320 can shoot through the tower walls too if your closer than 200 meters (I think it is).

On Average how much money/ xp do you usually get per match. And which weapons usually give the most XP in your experience (Zafir + MAAWS) etc.

Hey dude. I get about 25 to 50k on average I would say, I'm normally paying more attention to the money at the moment. The way that I get the most xp in a round is by trying to stay alive in the priority area. The guns that seem to be best for that are the Type 115, AK-12, ASP and anything from the machine gunner perk. I like to use the Zafir myself, but most people would prefer the SPMG or Navid. Mk200 is a good choice too. The MAAWS is the best launcher in infantry only, but maximising your xp is more about making use of your perks and joining a group. Unlock all 3 slots as soon as you can try to do what ever your chosen perks give you the extra xp for. I choose the launcher perk and usually the medic perk and that seems to work well for me. :)

Luke9K thanks for your response, I’ve been using the type 115 with the Ammo, medic and suppressor perks and it’s a great combination. The under barrel attachment is great for one shots and the rate of fire is great. I’m waiting for more money before perma buying the maaws then I’ll swap that for the suppressor I think. (I play infantry only on MGT)

Hey dude. I get like 45 - 75fps when in the AO and it's all kicking off, on a max 100 player server. I would get lower on a server with more than 100 or if the AO is Kavala. My PC Spec: CPU = i7 4790k 4GHz, 16GB RAM, GPU = Nvidia 980 Ti, Creative sound blaster Z, SSD drive for games and windows and 2 HDDs in RAID for recording. I also have 144Hz monitor, which is 24" with 1920x1080 resolution, Corsair K95 RGB keyboard, Logitech G502 RGB mouse and a steelseries QCK mouse mat. The PC is powered by a Corsair 850w power supply and the CPU is cooled by a Corsair H80i. Operating system is Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. @@MrGnovanni The CPU is most important for Arma, but running the game from an SSD (or faster) drive also helps. It's single core speed in the CPU rather than number of cores that benefits Arma the most as far as I know.

I don't care luke, have em all. Been there done that. Nothing more fun then lying a click out or more of the battle zone picking them of the towers with a silenced sniper rifle and watch them speeding around like headless chickens and being called a camper in the process 😂😂😂

Haha. Yep, camping is pretty much what you're supposed to do when sniping, especially suppressed. The people in the tower that your sniping are usually going to be the campers. :D

Luke9K thats true, but i cant blaim them. I suck in cqb and also i am a dude that crawls in little hole and bushes and wait for someone to walk by and shoot them in the back like a lame ass 😜 I avoid it by sniping from far away, still being called a camper 😂
