If you try naming him baal he says that’s a bad idea , I tried morax but it wouldn’t let me use the name , for some reason he accepts barbatos but rejects ventis name, weirdly enough he accepts the tsaritsa name or ( celestia / archon ) , he also rejects dainsleif, klee, kaeya so probably most playable character names. He accepts Ei ( & makoto ) for some reason tho & raiden as well as the last & first name of kazuha & ayato. Surprisingly you can name him after your twin he accepts it. + I tried naming him thoma he rejects it, but he’s fine with ayaka, Alice, & even sara. He hates insects so i tried onikabuto he’s not gonna reject it
the tsaritsa is not a name, it's the queen in Russian. The name Ei works because it's not a real name and I think the name Beelzebub won't work either. Why Venti works and Barbatos doesn't, I have no idea, but maybe you made a mistake in spelling. So I think you can't call the real names or generally known nicknames of the characters. And, probably, he does not know either the name of the twin or the real name of the traveler. (sorry for the bad English)

The devs really thought of everything, cause let's be real, QA testing is where all the crazy stuff happens (and gets rectified). Some QA testers must have done exactly that to get those responses. As for why Ei got through, officially, she's known as the Raiden Shogun, so there's no "actual" clash of names.
The way he just says "That won't work" on the others but when you type in some Fatui member's name in, he says "Is this supposed to be your attempt at a joke?" and "You can't be serious." It's really funny honestly, he doesn't even want to hear their NAMES rather alone see them.
Meh , one can name him Belial / Baalial which in not the same Ars Goetia demon but literally derives their name from the pagan god Baal as well soo…or any kind off Bel/Baal variations …including Balthazar !

@@Yen-jw1ls They've always been doing that with these past one-off, time-limited events. That includes the picture-taking one where it deals an insane amount of damage to targeted enemies in a domain.
U know what's so sad? Is that if you name him after yourself (the name you choose for traveler) then in the end leave the world it would be a betrayal, even a bigger one than just naming him and leaving. Also he would be like a reminder that you once been there. I'll still name him after my nickname as it is cute and he won't feel alone
We can't leave the world. Remember that our og world is actually destroyed and we were looking for a new world to live in with our sibling before the separation. So we'll most likely stay in this world itself.

I named him Nasami, because I did some research in Google and "Nasami" means "Fresh Air". Since he has a new path, and his vision is Anemo, I gave him that name.

Anemos is ONE of the modern Greek words for wind, anemo doesn't actually mean anything on its own, the nature of the word says that it is the first part of a combined term and the same goes for the words they use for the other elements, for example hydrodynamics, electrolysis etc. Aether (αιθηρ) on the other hand is simply one of the ancient Greek words used for "wind".

As a windy seafaring country there are many terms for it, αερας, αγερι, ανεμος, αιθερας etc. they are all related but they don't have the same age so the meaning somewhat shifts from ancient Greek all the way to modern. Generally speaking, aether could pass for air or high winds, but upper/clear sky is waayy too poetic of a translation. Anything related to sky shifts to the word "ouranos".
I named him Makoto 🥺 It was a last minute decision, because I really didn't plan any names before 😂 I thought about Eiji, Kunimitsu, Fujin, but ended up naming him after his Aunt Makoto lol I kinda like it
I named him Shinzo, because he always wanted a heart. Keeping it Inazuman too. Great story, loved it. Also shed a tear here and there. I wondered how they would redeem him, it was perfect.
I haven’t gotten to that part, but I’m thinking of “Fujinhiko” (“Fujin” after the wind counterpart of Rujin, and “Hiko” meaning ‘prince’). I know it may be a mouthful, but I’m still brainstorming
here's something to try out: if he can't have the names of any playable characters, then if he doesnt let you choose a name that no one else has that means theres a character coming with that name. I mean, what is hoyoverse gonna do if a future characters name matches the one you chose, make you replay the quest?
They could force you to rename him again, but honestly I think they'll just accept that situation. I'll be curious to see if anyone brute forces this to see if they can discover any unknown character names through names he won't accept, though.
This theory can be tried by naming Scaramouche "Yaoyao" since she hasn't been released or announced yet but is going to be a playable character in the future.

This is the kind of details i really love about this game. Its well thought out and really knows how to cater those mischievous and curious thoughts. This is why i believe this game deserves the award (not to start a war here) Ive played countless of games and ive seen a few that exerts effort like this. But havent seen an online game that exert these kind of level of details as hoyoverse does.
I named him after his friend whose heart he was saved by, in a sense that's the reason why he became who is is now so I thought to honour it after all these years
I love how you can see his new name above his stats in the Character menu, I ended up naming him "Hayate". I wanted something Japanese (Because he's from Inazuma) but also related to Wind.
What if you gave him the name of a future playable character? Like Baizhu, Dehya, Varka, Dainsleif etc. Or a character who hasn’t even appeared or been mentioned in game like Iansan or some other random name that might be put on a future character?
Baizhu doesn't work since he's already in game, but I tried yaoyao and it works because she's not in game yet so i think we can't guess future characters name even if they're in the voicelines of current characters. sad.
What are the chances that you name him after a character that will be released in the future? Someone who's not even conceived by Hoyo yet. That would be awesome. Personally, I will just name him after Ruu. I miss the kid and if the Wanderer takes that name, he can fulfill Ruu's dream of travelling outside his island. Btw, does this actually affect the game in any way? I haven't played the quest yet.
As far as I know, it changes his name from Wanderer to whatever you entered. For example, if you named him babygirl, his name in the character menu and in your party would also be babygirl
I thought of naming him Sora (jp version of Aether and I'm playing Lumine, also maybe a bit of a punishment bc he said the sky/stars are fake in the first event... and well free to go where the sky reaches) But honestly? Ruu is a lovely idea. ♡
I was just going to be boring and go with Wanderer, but I thought maybe Mako would be a good name. Kind of naming him after an aunt he never met (Makoto) but also it can mean Sincerity, which means hes free from pretense and deceit. But I'm still mulling it over.
that's actually a gud name I like it lol, I named him Scarahatsumi (Hatsumi meaning new beginning in Japanese) since he will begin anew in his life even if paying for his sins
Try naming him "Yoake" meaning: Dawn (a new day or a new beginning) the name means that scaramouche is having a new beginning, bcuz naming him after wind is to mainstream :/
omg i remember when i was on my alt i got to this part of the quest i wanted to name him yang because i considered him pure now but since the name of that account is also yang i got the cool easter egg, definitely one of my favorite quests aswell as one of my favorite characters

I decided to name my Wanderer after the foremen who died inside the Mikage Furnace along with Niwa. As a tribute to it, I gave him the name "Nagatsuragi" as one of the foremen inside the Mikage Furnace was none other than Katsuragi and his fellow associate Nagamasa.
I named him Hiel, did some research for "wondering shadow" in many versions, and that one was in japanese for "flying shadow" i believe. I wanted to put Kage but its just too bland, and we all know that Kage means shadow in japanese as well :p
Mine is Eishou. Dunno if this is real JP name but I just slapped Ei and (part of) Nahida's name to indicate past and future. Wanted to put Kage as well because Ei is so obvious, but I don't like how it sound.

Since everyone is sharing what they named then I guess I’ll share mine. I named him Haru. The name is Japanese and it means Spring. I got the idea from someone else I saw in the comment of another video so it wasn’t originally my idea to name him something that has to do with Spring.
someone should test and see if this works with peruere or crucabena (arlecchino's real name) because if it does then the devs have technically leaked all of the harbinger's names
I named him Kuni bcs I’ve been calling him that or Scara, depending on my brain and what i like to say that time lmao so he has been Kuni for me and kinda weird for me to find new name for him bcs I’m not used to haha. But if I found cool name later and it fits him, I’ll probably changed it to that

Fujin is Raijin brother Raijin called Raiden in Genshin Fujin should be called Futen but one thing u need to know, Venti was called Fujin in japanese dub
@@projectgodeater Thanks, i didn't know Venti was called Fujin in the Japanese dub but since we didn't know if he had closer relation to Ei, i decided it felt perfect for the Wanderer. I though about using Futen also, which is why i'm saving the renane item if i felt like using it later.
I wonder if Scara would accept if the player used the real name of the Harbingers, i.e. Ajax instead of Tartaglia/Childe, or Rosalyne instead of Signora Gonna name him Kusogaki, by the way.
I was like "oh, Kusogaki is not bad" and rolled to other comments and then my other self said "Kuso is shit, and gaki is child, so he is calling him-.."
I named him with a name containing a word that pronounces exactly the same as one of the characters in Balladeer in Chinese. 散兵(san bing) is how most of the CN fandom calls him, and well, a lot of people call him A-san or san-bao which is basically little-Balla or Balla-baby. Something along the lines. So I just went with 七伞 qi san. So I can go ahead and just call him A-San.
