Wow, talk about a catastrophe averted. Goes to show the skill of these racers. And oh yah, that explanation took 15 mins or so and the real world thoughts and actions took 4-5 seconds. Kudos to you Cameron and Josh and the skills you exhibited.

I know you guys ran out of time for the podium interviews as well as any interview from Josh. I sure wish there was an interview recording, at least of the final podium, finishers, on the MotoAmerica Live+ app for those of us that subscribe. Maybe add that later or think about that in the future? Otherwise, I am enjoying the app tremendously.

This race was one of the most awesome races I have seen in years. I am an old school guy and I was pulling for you the entire race. It was so impressive watching all four of you guys staying mostly clean till the end. I will be pulling for you all season. If people are questioning your skills, well, they can eat a bag! You are amazing, do what you do.

Josh Hayes use to back in the day. He would actually sit out front to eat lunch so he could talk to people. Can't believe he is 48 and still racing. Josh Herrin has no clue who I am. However, I've watched him since he first year in professional racing 18 years ago back in the AMA days.

Man I raced with you guys at this track and if someone haven't done this corner you just can't understand the size of the "oh shit" moment you got there. I was far from those laptime but I was following JD Beach on that section to dile this tricky corner in and the back tire was bursting in smoke through this corner while we are tucked in and pinned at 100% throttle, sitting at an angle on a rocket ship. It's by far the craziest corner I did in my racing career. You can't see it on TV but it's blind and there is really 1 good line, if you go side to side there and the rider on the inside push you wide, in my understanding you're done and run wide into that wall that is really way to close by. I don't know how you managed to save that and I'm really grateful that you did cause that would have been a serious disaster... Plus the other saves after, you seriously showed some extreme skills 🤘

I saw this race when it first aired, and was absolutely AMAZED by the hair-width narrow escape. I couldn't believe what my eyes had seen. At first I thought it was just a depth perception truck on my eyes and that there had to have been more space between Gagne and Beaubier, so I kept rewinding and replaying it over and over, and watching it in slow motion. I personally thought it was very apparent that something had happened to your bike right before (the obvious wobble) and that you looked like you couldn't brake. It happens so fast, it's hard to decipher even when rewatching it. I was so thankful that the perfect timing of the Good Lord shining his blessing on you all squeezed you right through the space that didn't even seem to be there. I enjoyed your recap, and to heck with all those know-it-all experts out there giving their amateur commentary.
@richrogers8352
@richrogers8352 Год назад
Great explanation. I watched the race live and assumed the speed wobble caused an issue with positioning of entering the corner. This explains how exceptional you are. Along with luck God has given you an amazing gift of talent. I have some racing experience and there is a lot more that's involved that the average rider doesn't know. I've actually met you and been on the track with you at Daytona and Jennings. Been watching you for about 13 years. Your one of my favorites to watch. Congratulations on Daytona 200 win this year!

Hey Josh, I hope you actually get to read this comment. It’s the best racing story I have ever heard. I absolutely love it, you gave your step by step of the entire race situation. As a former AFM Racer, I know how racing incidents go And you always just try to protect yourself and others always on two wheels. I am also a former Kevin Schwantz graduate who had a chance to sit next to him at dinner has he shared stories of 😮racing and gave so many descriptives that only riders and racers know about. In this video u did the same and I think ur awesome for it and this story you just shared are like stories that Kevin Swantz shared about racing incidents…. Racing is all about pushing hard…. Love the detail and step-by-step process. I’m glad you made it through happy for your podium on Saturday and I can’t wait to see you continue racing throughout the season this year… may be in the off-season. Once I get my shit together I could hire you for a coaching session (buttonwillow,thill)once I get my gsxr back up and running…. Much luck this season and stay healthy ….!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

And has had the same internal conversations in the moment. It's exciting to say the least, and when you don't crash it's a great feeling. Your skill and Cameron's skill in picking it up as you slid by is awe inspiring. I met you in January of 2022 at Daytona during the AHRMA races, my garage was 4 or 5 doors down from you and Ducati. Chatting briefly and watching you on track was great, as a successful business owner I know what it takes to succeed at anything and it's clear that you have it and that you're a good person as well. When I was watching the race in real time I thought the reason you blew the corner was due to the winglet which flew off from the impact with Cameron. I missed the head shake because it was the best race I've seen in years from any two wheeled categories. Glad you're not hurt or anyone else for that matter. It could've been much worst as shown by Michele Pirro at Mugello when he had head shake before braking for turn one in 2018.

@Josh Herrin Great vid Josh. When I was watching that, I couldn't believe my eyes! We've heard commentators use the expression "couldn't fit a piece of paper between them", this is the only time I've ever seen that actually be the case. Cam did a great job adjusting on the fly, great reflexes, he had no time to consciously make a decision there, pure rider instinct, a lot like what you describe you are doing there, no, exactly like what your doing there. So many people don't really understand the minutiae of the physics of racing, but think they know what it feels like to ride like that. They really have no clue what it really takes to race, wether it is 2 wheels or 4. Racing at a high level is being able to make split second decisions that are the right ones, and the only way to be able to do that is by feel. Your body is able to "read" the physics and through experience your brain is able to take that "reading" and turn it into the art of racing. Only those who have this skill understand it. The consequences of making a wrong decision is what tunes the mind to a razor sharp instrument. That is the art of racing. Every rider on that grid has it, some more than others, and some are at different stages of honing the craft. That's why even the last place guy deserves to be admired for his skill and commitment. Thanks for all the years of great racing we get to watch Josh. You look good this year and the bike looks like it is in tune with you. Not sure about the tires yet, I've not heard much rider feedback, but one thing for sure- that was an awesome race!! You got a good shot at a championship Josh, you have the bike, the skill, now grab the confidence to go get it. Jake and Cam are tough competition, but if you mix it up with them and ride smart, you got a good shot this year. Good luck bro!

Thank you so much for the in depth explanation of this incident. I was really pulling for you in this race and, being a non-racer, had no idea what happened. Not knowing any of you to any extent personally, I was hoping it was not a dick move to win the race by Beaubier. I'm so happy it wasn't as I have watched superbike for years and respect all of you for you constant professionalism and top notch races. This was, no doubt, the best race I have seen since I've been watching superbikes. I watch multiple venues of superbikes also and this race was awesome! Sometimes you get a couple guys at the end battling it out but, wow, having 4 riders right there with 3 of you switching leads and making incredible passes. What a race! Josh! Thank you for taking time to reach out to fans and viewers of this INCREDIBLE race! I don't think people who actually watch and understand racing feel you did a single thing wrong to be receiving the hate you said you're getting. It was obvious that something happened with Cam at the kink, but the camera transition made it hard to see exactly what. The rest was holding on for dear life. I'm glad you made the video because the broadcast never showed anyone talking about it. However, I don't feel like you have any reason you need to explain your actions. Josh, it was awesome to finally meet you at the Warhorse tent after following you for 5 years (all the time I've been watching MotoAmerica)! Man, that was an exciting race and I was pulling for ya so hard! Couldn't believe that all happening right on the last lap. So so glad you stayed on the pavement, there is NO runoff right there and with the speeds you were doing... sheesh. Thanks for unpacking all this! I learned a lot from this, and that tip about the headshake may come in handy for me on the track down the road! I was so pissed that MotoAmerica pulled the cameras when you pulled over and Cam was coming up to you. I guess they thought you were about to throw down haha. Glad to hear ya'll smoothed things over. P.S. even if you WERE flaming mad, I wouldn't have blamed you. You just stared death in the face because of someone else's actions and for all you knew at the moment it was Cam just trying to play defense and box you out. there was no way you saw or knew that he slipped his front until he communicated with you. so yeah, keep doing you, keep being passionate, keep up the hard work. Last year was incredible to watch on the V2, I think this year is your year again on the V4R! This was some stellar, smart racing. P.S.S. Like I said at the tent, definitely looking forward to more street riding content! If wheelies on race bikes are frowned upon, any chance of throwing them up on a Hypermotard or Monster? The bikes Ducati markets as hooligan bikes themselves? Just a thought I had after... Take care and keep shredding! - Jason

Top level racing by top level racers making decisions by the millisecond. Nobody's out there doing anything intentionally malicious so nothing to apologize for. Kinda crappy you gotta post a walkthrough video explaining that, but with the negativity that follows you I guess that's not surprising. You bring an attitude and presence to the paddock that intimidates, challenges as well as elevates your competitors. As a fan of motorcycle racing wanting US roadracing to be what it once was, I am excited to watch you, Cam B./P., Scholtz, Gagne (+ others) mix it up each round. Good job Josh. For the amount of things going on at that speed, you did good. Good job on Cameron as well to slow up just enough. Get your lotto ticket this week.

I hope you keep this form up, Josh! This was like my 3rd or 4th race I've been able to watch live, as the races are oftentimes too late here. It was great seeing you able to fight with Cameron and Gagne and keep their pace. It was one of the greatest races I'd ever seen in bike racing, and even car racing. Keep it up, I hope you win a race!

Great breakdown, didn't get to see post race interviews and wondered what happened. Glad the skill of all involved prevented a major accident. Great racing. Very exciting. Good luck with the season.

Never been a huge fan, but ive also never been a doubter. You have incredible talent and i low key knew you would be a menace on that V4R. Never thought this was anything malicous either. I kinda figured it was a racing incident and the breakdown just confirmed that. Thank you for giving us hardcore racing like we have been wanting. Keep it up at Barber man.

Josh, thanks so much for the clarity. Knowing the details makes that finish all the more honorable. You guys put on an amazing display this weekend and it bodes well for this entire season. Thanks for the example you set as a competitor, both in your passion and in your work ethic. With so many former champs duking it out this year, I wasn't sure who to root for, but now I do. Thanks again!

Josh, your riding, reflexes, and situational awareness under duress show the real difference between actual racers and.....everybody else, including myself. Hats off to you and your competitors for staying clean and fast, and offering an honest and thorough description of the end of the race.

After meeting you at the Ahrma Daytona round and gridding up with you I Became a fan.. After watching what Happened MA race 2 Atlanta I was blown away at how fortunate you all were at your shear skill and awareness. Defiantly a point and pray moment. Seriously the best racing i have seen in years . Good of you to explain to those who didnt catch what actually happened. I had a clue but, you affirmed my analysis. Jake, Cam and you put on a hell of a show ! 60 and still racing! Have fun in Leeds.

As Always, Thank You for being You Josh!!! The level of Character, and behind the scenes training on perfecting your craft for situations such as the one you just walked us through !! Can’t begin to imagine what it takes to be at your level of competition, complete, with the skill set to remain focused and not fall apart when the unthinkable happens 🤙🏼

I've watched this race a few times now! I haven't been this excited about a MotoAmerica race in years!! Josh, you've never been my favorite racer, but your talent, skill, and expertise on a superbike is undeniable and I respect the hell out of you bud! As a Ducati fan, I'm super happy to see you on the V4R! You definitely had a few pucker moments there but, the end result is everyone came out ok and you still collected valuable points this weekend! Can't wait for Barber next month!!!!!!

The saves you made to get yourself and your fellow competitors through that one without anyone getting hurt shows what an incredible talent you are on a motorcycle!! To the smack talkers, what bike were you on again, must have missed you during the race??? Overall, probably the best race I've seen in MA.

Hey Josh--Great race man! From my 18 years of experience watching races on my couch I have to say this was the best motorcycle race of 2023 so far. Binder's sprint race win was probably number 2. Glad to see you and all the other veterans back at it again. I have a feeling this season will bring us more exciting racing than MotoGP and WSBK. Tell MotoAmerica to give the corner workers better training or more fire extinguishers to deal with fires or not to show the part where the corner workers are in danger. I don't want their insurance to go up or they might not have the budget to keep posting these awesome races on YT! Cant wait to see you on the podium this season as you get that Ducati dialed in!

Ever since you rode Cams bike in 2017 and battled with Rog, I've been a fan . But I admit I didn't expect you to be podium first race weekend simply because you had very little time on the bike but you and Cam both put on an amazing show. Like everyone said. It was absolutely the best SuperBike race I have ever seen. Im excited for the season because now Jake isn't just going to run away with another championship. Time for You and Ducati end that run. !!!
