One unhealthy thing about having cancer is to assume that it's the ultimate death sentence. It is not. To have such a fear is psychosomatically bad and makes one health worse psychosomatically. You can fight and you have every reason to fight for. Also: you want to experience how robotaxis with autonomous level 5 driving alter the entire car world...all our streets. How the accidents reduce over 90%. It will be awesome - and you will still be with us.
Dr William Lee if you don't study him well so be Just lay down and accept your fate..... And the reality is cancer is a multi-billion or maybe even a trillion dollar business they don't have any incentive for a cure there's no money in cure
Thank you for making a crucial point. Japan's Nanking Massacre in WW2 shouldn't give Japan any moral high ground. Never forget history! Sam, you are a good man, I pray for you and your wife.
@@ursodermatt8809 Did you even finish the video? It's a dumb argument because it happened a while ago and should forget. Japan didn't just commit massacre in China but also Malaysia, Taiwan, Okinawa, Philippines, Singapore...etc, all the South East Asian countries being occupied. It never formally apologize for their crime in WWII because they are under the protection of the US. As long as Roman Empire massacres victims still exist. It should be brought up again and again.
@@foodparadise5792 The CCP killed 20 million of their own people. this also should be brought up again and again. if everybody brings up the past all the time there will never be peace. that is why china has no friends. that is why china has border claims with practically all the surrounding countries. good luck with that!
Hi real sorry hearing that your wife’s cancer is back I’ve had 8 cancers over the last 5 years all successfully treated. Because of this I’ve keep a watch on new treatments check out Keto diet and Hyperbaric treatment it’s getting very good results plus also check out using the polio virus to kill the cancer 60 Minutes has a great video on RU-vid about it Best of luck to your wife Bruce
Sam, I used to analyze drugs and published research on drugs in clinical trials. I don't know what kind of cancer your wife has (I am not a regular on your channel) but in general, if she has solid tumor, checkpoint inhibitors has pretty good efficacy. If she has heme type cancer, then CAR-Ts have one of the best efficacies. Lots of times, the insurance forces people on the cheaper chemos before moving up the more expensive biologics, which have greater efficacies. If none of the drugs she is on is working, you can enroll in a clinical trial (not yet approved by regulatory) and get treatment free. China actually just released pretty good data on a solid tumor drug recently, better than US oncology checkpoint inhibitors. Anyway, if you get to this point where none of the drugs are working, you can reply with your email and I can walk you through the process of finding a drug in clinical trial. Then you can ask your oncologist his/her thoughts. I reviewed lots of oncology drugs particularly the immunotherapies and they have helped lots of people even when the cancer has spread or is in late stage, so there's great deal of hope. Finally, if you are not Sam's wife and want to ask questions about drugs, clinical trial data, you can reply and I will answer your questions.
Wish your wife all the best. And thanks for bring up the Nanjing Massacre. I was born on the date of its anniversary. Being a history buff and a very well-travelled Eurasian, I know how each country just teaches about its own part of WWII, but Nanjing Massacre is on the same level as Auschwitz and people should know.
No, the Nanjing Massacre is more serious. If you don't understand it, you can look it up. Similar to the Nanjing Massacre, there are all over China. Japan also conducts biochemical experiments on Chinese people, such as the dissolution of living bacteria, viruses, and so on
@@郑羽-m4z Who are you to say it's more serious? Maybe if YOU don't understand I invite you to look it up. Historians estimate that around 1,1 million people perished in Auschwitz during the less than 5 years of its existence. The majority, around 1 million people, were Jews. The second most numerous group, some 70 thousand, was the Poles, and the third most numerous, about 21 thousand, the Roma and Sinti. About 15 thousand Soviet POWs and some 12 thousand prisoners of other ethnic backgrounds (including Czechs, Byelorussians, Yugoslavians, French, Germans, and Austrians) also died there. In addition, Imagine just alone how many Russians have perished during WW2, how many Ukrainians and other nations from the European East-block died from the hand of the Nazi. The monsters from the Japanese unit 731 did horrible things same as the Nazi doctor Mengele. The soviet Gulag system and purges were also terrible.
@@FredericParantAre you flexing your white supremacy? It's not only the Chinese who became the victims of Japanese aggression. But noting the population of China, you shouldn't underestimate the Nanjing massacre and other hapless events in China. Is it because you only want the global population to sympathize the Jews only?
The Japanese atrocities were so bad, the WW2 Germans were horrified and sickened. To this very day, the Japanese continue so the deny and minimize their crimes, so Japanese are worse.
So very sorry to hear about your wife. I have been there with several members in my family who have fought cancer. Take one day at a time. As for China, thank-you for your honest assessment of EV's. It is a breath of fresh air free of geopolitics and anti-China rhetoric. They are capable of producing a great product economically. Too bad the West is obsessed with lambasting their industries and imposing heavy tariffs. We in the US may never get the privilege of enjoying Chinese made EV's I go to China on a regular basis and will be in Qindao and Beijing this November.
In the US, you can buy Chinese EVs under Volvo / Polestar, along with a Chinese-made Buick SUV and a Chinese-made Lincoln SUV. China is going to ignore the US market and focus on the rest of the world.
@@InsideChinaAuto almost convinced me with the Li auto from your channel..but going with Aito M7 as i test drove it and fell in love with it and its handling..
I really enjoyed that vid and great to see you out of the home office. Definitely do more test drives. I was in China in 2008 and all my preconceptions were blown away. Chinese people are very nice and great fun. The country might be communist but it's citizens are 100% capitalists. Even back then the rate of progress they were making was at warp speed. There were no EVs back then but they had already ditched petrol engines scooters for battery version. Those were the test bed. When I got back to the UK no one would believe how fast they were advancing. They laughed in my face said I was bonkers. Well they put in the hard graft and the finances to for years and years and now they are reaping the rewards. Good luck to them, they are to be admired. If we had done it in the west we would have been throwing the car manufacturers a ticker and tape parade. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It's always super important to remember the citizens and government are very different things. I totally agree. That fact is, as much as we would like to believe our own government isn't corrupt and anything but 'well-meaning', our last 80 years of history demonstrates otherwise
Well, if the Chinese people are good, and their lives are getting better and better, then how come the party running such a country is bad and evil?@@travisjazzbo3490
It's 2024, and we are more tied down by terms and ideologies than ever. If anything, in my mere 40 years of life as an Asian immigrant of 32 years to the Western world, who cares if a government is supposedly communist or socialist or democratic or whatever, if the government is well managed and is working to improve people's lives, that's a good government. And these days, I can't see anything good from the West, while the supposedly 'evil and communist' China has lifted 800 million people out of poverty, and we are witnessing the raise of a nation with 1.4 billion people. Like Deng Xiaoping said, "it doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, it is a good cat if it can catch a mouse".
@@DubboU I tend to agree and I am American. I keep hearing all of these evil things about China, but I don't see any actual support of it. America's government is massively corrupt and that is evidenced by the hate for Trump. What did Trump do that was so bad? I will tell you what he did... he was AGAINST WAR and so many in the SWAMP tied to the Military Industrial Complex and all that money were going to not be as rich with him in office... That's why they hate him. He had the world at peace like we haven't seen in decades. We are always accusing China of threats of war with no evidence and Russia which pales in comparison against what the USA has done since WWII
Those are not "ghost city". China prefer to build the whole city completely, utilities (electric, water, storm, sewage, gas), telco, public transport, etc. from scratch and finish before allowing residents to move in. That way the city is clean and fewer disruptions from construction and repair when laying out other trenches underground.
That is true. 20 years ago I cycled in Zhuhai. I found a lot of 3 lane highways and excellent infracture laying idle. Thought it was a waste of money. But suddenly people moved in and the roads are jam packed with fast driven cars. Should have bought a flat there when it was so cheap....
Ghost city ,, Oh yes ,, that's it . Since war with America is inevitable ,, They will be populated really fast . The chinese are ready with apartment block blocks , The FEMA is ready with camping trailers .
China front loads the economy with state credit, those Yuans enter the money supply, and then help maintain a favorable exchange rate to the dollar. Ghost cities, in addition to social planning, also help China acquire foreign know how via favorable exchange rates. The dollar is held up, and Yuan held lower.
Exchange rates killed our car industry a few years ago so we don’t have a car industry to protect. We have a free trade agreement and have restored a good relationship with China after a few misunderstandings during the pandemic.😊 We should benefit from being so close on the planet!🌏
lndeed, we are lucky, bout two BYDs, Atto3 and Seal performance, the later is amazingly good, kills same level BBAs immediately, just so good to drive and enjoy the tech and luxury from it.
Chinese goods are the only imports where Australia gets a break. Look at the price of anything from Europe or America, and the consumer price is ridiculous. It always shocks me that Australia doesn't work harder for good relations with China. If the relationship goes bad, Australian consumers would have to pay so much more for everything.
*I hope your wife gets better, wish her well.* Good to see you got some hands-on experience driving cars in China, at least. This is far better than reviewing something sitting on your desk.
Thanks for the interesting and informative video of your China trip. You were able to see and do some amazing things over in China and test drive some fabulous Chinese cars. As you have shown there are many incredible Chinese EVs on the market and the amazing thing is that they're going to continue to get better and cheaper over the next 10 years! The EVs available in just 10 years time will be mind blowingly sensational!
@@markplott4820 grandma, can you afford a Volvo? FYI, mark boy, Volvo is Chinese own. Remember the key bridge? Waterproof cars save lives, and EVs can be easily waterproofed. Some BYD models are waterproof. You want EVs, even EVs made in China, unless you and your children want to die. After all, the American military cannot resist the benefits of electric vehicles. Otherwise, the US soldiers will have to drive internal combustion vehicles to fight the Chinese driving EVs. The power is one reason, the small heat signature is two, easy waterproof is three, the small noise is four, and the small cost is five. The list goes on and on. Two things must be considered regarding a war between the US and China since they have already changed warfare: drones and electric vehicles. In these two areas, the US and China are close, and maybe China is slightly ahead of the US. For example, an electric tank is practically infrared stealth compared with an internal combustion tank. After all, the tank's engine is a huge heat source and a target. I am quite sure that the Chinese military will drive electric vehicles, if not already. Now, BYD makes cars in Mexico. The Mexican police will soon drive electric cars to chase criminals' multimillion-dollar sports cars. As a result, the drug dealers must also drive electric cars. So, military, police, and criminals are driving EVs, men must follow, and only left the old pussies want to drive an internal combustion vehicle.
I absolutely loved the Zeekrs you test drove Sam! What gorgeous and performance vehicles compared to the boring vehicles America is currently limited to. I so wished these could come to America as Zeekr is just killing other manufacturers.
Zeekr is competing with other Chinese manufacturers like BYD. They are making better quality and cheaper EVs for the Chinese. When they stand out from the competition in China, it will be a disaster day for automakers all over the world, including the United States.
Great video! A few points: 1) I hope your wife gets better soon mate. You must stay strong! 2) Regarding the so-called "ghost town," there's been a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding in the west about these. China handles development very differently compared to most other countries and has 5, 10, 15, 20, and even 30 year plans for urban development. Meaning it tends to develop entire neighbourhood before demand emerges, not after (most nations choose to do the latter). That's because ongoing urbanisation and large numbers of people moving from rural areas into the cities is going to remain a trend for the next decade at least. That area you filmed will be packed with people in 2-3 years. 3) I'm glad you pointed out the hypocrisy and ignorance of those not wanting to buy Chinese for political reasons - China hasn't fired a bullet towards another nation in almost 50 years (unlike the US and some of its vassal states, for example, which do so yearly and often illegally), China has also brought 800 million of its citizens out of poverty in the space of 30 years, not exactly evil empire stuff, contrary to what western mainstream media will have you believe.
The one that point the finger are usually the guilty one. The Australian soldier exsercute farmers in Afghan and Syria and the Aus gov prosecute their whistleblower.
And Auztrelia lock up 30k~50k acylum xeeker (including children) in offshore site with foce labor and sxual abuse accur regularly with no intention to sending them home.
Yeah, the 'Ghost Town' is simply a new city. It's easier to build a house, a new apartment building, a new subdivision on empty land. China scales that up to build an entire city on empty land. The cost is far lower, so they can put in excellent infrastructure. They infill with government offices and workers, schools, etc. More people come in to support those workers and buy cheap, before the rush, and a few years later, it's a thriving city. This is an ongoing process that happens daily in China. China urbanizes 10-20 million people each year, and they want to spread that around the country, rather than having everybody migrate into a few megacities. China has been doing macro-scale urbanization for decades and has another few decades to go. Compare with other countries which don't prebuild housing on a massive scale, and you can see the difference. They tend to concentrate into a single megacity, with maybe a couple other large cities, but the rest is stagnant, and the quality of life is poor due to overconegestion. Having a large number of "moderate" size (for China) cities connected by High Speed Rail works better (for China).
I’ve just ordered an IONIQ 5 because Europe has put economic sanctions on Chinese EV imports coming into the EU. Hopefully things will have sorted themselves out by the time I’m ready to replace the one I’ve just ordered, as you say there’s so much more to come from China and I can’t wait

And have to wait for some indefinite time , because the battery wouldn't even be available for 20 months . BYD has signed an agreement with the Turkish government to build a production facility for electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The plant is expected to have an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles and will go into operation at the end of 2026. It is the second factory after Hungary with a focus on Europe.
@@markplott4820So go and buy a is BYD BEV instead. ICEs generally are an issue... especially because every single one has a battery that acts like a spark plug in the motor room. That's why so many outdated ICEs ignite and burn...way way more than BYDs man fern PHEVs. I still only recommend BEVs...because they are the only ones to stay on the long run.
Sorry to hear about the news from your wife. Stay strong man, thanks for all you do you are a fantastic person and make sure you take some time for yourself and your family we will always be here for your regardless as your fans!
so sorry to hear your family is going through such difficult times- cancer is a monster thank you for sharing the trip - it must’ve been amazing to be in China
Honestly, Zeekr is overkill for daily driving. Like Avatr, Zeekr is a premium brand positioned like China's BMW, although the 001 is around $40k USD. If you look at Chinese EVs in the $20k-30k USD range, they're amazingly competitive. BYD's Ocean series (Seagull, Dolphin) is more mass market like Toyota, while BYD's Dynasty (Qin, Han, Song) is upmarket like Buick / Lexus.
I just got back from Australia. Many times my cellphone didn't work because there was still only 3G available... I like how the Chinese bring the better technologies.
Aussies are mostly well mannered and would thank them for visa free entry. Major trading partners !😊. I hope we can thank them for a great range of long range vehicles soon.😊
No, that's the last thing anyone in a customs line needs is a bunch of people thanking the officers. Still, it could be worse, you could be on a flight with Americans who are apparently so scared of the whole thing that they feel the need to applaud the bus driver for landing them. Fine, if it's a Boeing breath a sigh of relief but mostly stay seated until the flight attendants tell you to get up, and shut up! :D
The Australian people have their own ideas, but the Australian politicians are the puppets of the United States, and they will only carry out the instructions of the Americans. In addition, Europe, Japan and South Korea are the same.

Geely Group makes BYD the next Nokia and the next Kodak again! Not just by Volvo and Radar/Riddara, but by Zeekr too. The great thing about the Zeekr 009 is that it looks nothing like Alphard, so no one would ever accuse it of copying Alphard.

Don’t listen to the hype of the EX30. The Zeekr X and my sister car the Smart #1 Brabus both knock spots off the Volvo EX30. They are all built by Geely on the same platform all are 428hp 543Nm torque.
Protectionism (and lack of competition) leads to a decrease in progress, allowing non-protectionist technology and production to overtake its marketability. I want the North American Auto Industry production to remain competitive. Punitive taxation of ANY overseas production is, therefore, IMHO a route to failure as their companies gradually become more successful, both technologically and in terms of global dominance.
Cool, but doesn't anyone know how to corner anymore without drifting? The fast line involves braking late, apexing late, and getting on the gas early at the exit with a little rear slippage. You would be amazed at how long you can stay on the accelerator before braking into a corner. The trick is to have accurate and consistent brake markers lap after lap.
Even though most involved in WWII have nothing to do with our present-day I never buy any product without checking my WWII history...really intelligent point

Australia is more lucky than the US and Canada, at least they have Chinese EV brands there for at least over a decade now. It is kind of silly that in the US and Canada they can have BYD buses and EVs for taxi fleets, but won't allow BYD dealerships here. It's all talk and no action here in North America, they can't even decide on one standardized charging plug let alone their silly statement that it will all be electrified by 2035 !
