As a Black countryman from Texas, I applaud your efforts. My family has lost 70+ Acreage to the banks and they turn around and sell it to Home Depot or Walmart...Black brother please dont get depressed. They will try to put us in the position of the slaves.
The key is get out of the position where you need a loan. We need to come together as a people Finance the black farmers until they get in a position where they don't need a loan.
Carrie Banks-Wright + That’s a great idea. It’s time we SOS,...Save Our Selves! If we as a people could finance the Black farmers, and support them by any means necessary, maybe we can help them get back on their feet. It’s time to think outside the box.
This should happen for what ever we want to do.Too many lives destroyed. Why should a Man or Woman, need to go to people that do not like or care for you. Insane...
Hi although it's TRUE not only to farmers but many more ...I mean b/n Hollywood and athletes only many more projects that can lift up this community could be done. If you can figure that out ...you are making history.
I'm a black latina market farmer in Ohio. I get a little support in the black community, but we need so much more. If you see a black farmer at a market, stop and buy something to support them.
We need active American national farms. Black isn't a lawful status. Hints the plaguing issue of status upon us as a people. We keep claiming a dead status.
Am from Africa and these sort of stuff Makes me sad. My advise to Black farmers in America is to think about corporate farming in Africa. Plenty of Land, good weather and manpower. Moreover, you can easily self-fund and raise some good Capital by Exporting your produce. Taxation on Agricultural products is obviously less than manufactured goods. This really broke my heart.
This is all true. My dad was a cowboy and a farmer in his younger days. Once we were born, he tried so hard to buy a farm for us. We got run out of so many towns... My dad eventually died to agent orange-related cancer (thanks again, US government) when we were kids. Now I work in a callcenter just trying to scrape up the funds to get some crappy lot somewhere. I wanna try it again. For him and our future..
This is war on our people. The Black upper classes are letting these things happen to good people as your family. I hope you win your battle...Stay Strong...
Wow you got it bad bro there's black banks why don't he go there in southern L.A. . there are many black owned banks..hell what %percent of black rich people would loan him money lol but he going to blame whites gets real .
Black tobacco farmers in North Carolina faced these exact same discriminatory practices. My great grandparents owned a working farm, but that legacy was gone, shortly after their death. It's a methodical and calculated land grab to stifle any attempt of passing wealth from one generation to the next. This type of institutional racism is still functioning like a well-oiled machine to this day,
help yourself. get yourself up by the bootstraps. you are not entitled to anything. you need a loan? go for it.. if you qualify you will definitely get it. Also why don't you guys set up community banks and help yourselves out instead of buying rims and blowing it up on strip clubs and petty stuff.. Nobody helped the whites out. they once lived in nomadic/tribal communities in Europe until they studied, learned and innovated things that advanced them on their own. nowadays you don't need to invent much. you just need to replicate the success around you. you are not entitled to any special privileges.
@HB it's not tough guy talk. there is a thing called reality. go through my post and refer me to one statement that is wrong in it. enough with this victim mentality. it has gotten old and is not helping solve any problems. victim mentality is for lazy, drunk fools just looking for an easy way out. Europeans built themselves without handout. you can do same without always crying for help like a child in kinder if you have what we call dignity
You go home and don’t come back. Your snake ass ancestors stole and messed up land. Selfishness and greed won’t let them allow growth for any one else. But that’s okay. You and no one else can live without Black People! Ha! Face the truth! Steal the land then have to get others to work it because just like your ancestors, you and your kind ain’t gonna work it without the Black Farmer showing you how.

Here's one thing you can do. If you see a black farmer on the side of the road selling their produce. Stop and buy something to support them. I am a black latina market farmer in Ohio. Many times when we set up in black communities, we get a little support, but many more (black) people don't bother stopping to supporting us. I guess it's just easier for them to go to Walmart for their produce.
@@piehamcake1 truth hurts. instead of rebutting any of the points made you quickly resort to name calling. not surprised, it's quite the normal from losers
My grandfather had his farm in Anderson, SC taken by imminent domain, there’s a highway through what used to be his land. He was the patriarch of the family, now all of his children my uncles and aunts have to live in the city. None of us ever needed welfare until we were forced from our land where we used to cultivate everything we needed. In my family farming is a lost legacy.
I'm disgusted and NOT surprised. This has always happened to black families. Hell, the video alone should have more views but it doesn't. It's because any time you mention any black hardship or conflict, no one watches. Why hasn't there been more outreach to help them?! We all know why and as a country, we are disgusting and powered by hate.
I agree with your statement. Let's start a Go Fund Me account for business people like this black family. Victory For Black Farmers!! Peace And Love On Earth. Sandra California
To see this man cry about his father’s legacy is heartbreaking. My grandpa was also a farmer in Louisiana and sold his cayenne pepper to Tabasco. I wondered why he stopped and this probably had a lot to do with it. May God bless them. The bigots will be served justice eventually, some way somehow. 😔
😔These people should not be losing their farm or home. This is wrong n do many levels. How can we...the people, the community..,.get behind the black farmers and support them? How can we create a cooperative collectively so we the people, the community owns the land, farming business and profits? I don’t know what I’m talking about but I know this will make sense to somebody. 😔

My Grandparents were Corn and bean farmers, my Dad left and moved to California. I am a Black Northern California Nut Farmer, I had one of my Friends apply for a Loan, he basically just signed his name. I needed a new picker and a new shuttle cart.. I applied and was approved, but not the amount I would have liked. I did purchase equipment but used at a generous price from my friends. Good and durable equipment, just not the new.. I was displeased, and felt disappointed, but its Liberal California for 1, and I have much bigger problems with water rights..Also the biggest problem with disappearing Black Farmers is the push back from families. My dad constantly calls me a black red neck, and black people arent supposed to be where im at. Cant just be proud im successful
When this brother start Crying on his father grave I just couldn’t hold my eyes from tears .. really is Very hard for real person to lose his inheritance special a land
Macadamienutz you’re right! It maybe already too late for Black farmers and small Black Greenhouse growers to get into Marijuana trade. They’re purposefully keeping the wraps on nationally growing it. By the time they finally allow it nationwide Black people applying for licensing and loans, it’ll be oops! Sorry guys nothing left for you! Watch and see. They maybe one or two medium to large Black growers but they’ll be the token ones! Book it!!!

You have nothing to be ashamed of Sir! Young black men need to listen to your story. I wish that didn't happen to you! I pray for the return of the black farmers!!!
I urge everyone to listen to the Provosts' story on the NYT 1619 podcast which provides better context than this short video. What's happened to them, and other black farmers, is criminal.
I really like this new channel. Very informative. I’m learning things I have never even thought about. Thanks for making us aware! After watching this, I am mad af. This guy has worked his entire life! No one has or had the right to do things differently because he is African American. Why does race continue to be a problem in this country? People are people. No one should ever be treated differently because of race. I’m sick of this shit.

What is happening, is happening to all farmers. Big Corps. are squeezing them to death. 14% is not much, so it don't take much squeezing to be extinct. Not to mention the unspoken barriers of racial prejudice so prevalent in this country.
This is such a tragic and all too common story of black Farmers in America. I'm an aspiring young black Farmer in Eastern Missouri and this doesn't dishearten me, it gives fuel to my passion to farm and have something to pass on to my children and grandchildren children in spite of the adversity.

@@Jabooty_Williams Not really caring about what's happening to the farmers in South Africa isn't really an endorsement of what's happening to them, y'know. It's just that this kind of shit is always happening in 2nd and 3rd world countries, in places the least likely to affect me. All throughout the 20th century they were killing farmers in an effort to collectivize farms. Now a few countries in Africa are doing it *in the name of* racial justice. These are impoverished countries. That kind of shit just happens there. I'm more interested in what happens in my country, where I have the ability to affect political change, and where the politics of said country can have a direct affect on me.
@@Mechaghostman2 if you want to help these farmers in America buy their crops. Not only that vote for pro capitalists. Not just Republicans but capitalism in general no matter if they are Republican Democrat or centrist. Capitalism supports private farmers like these black families. Socialism just takes the farms under government control and profits off of it. Look at any socialist country. All farms in these countries are government ran and maintained. They snuff out any private farmers by over taxing grain and seeds. You also must remember farming is a very difficult profession. My grandparents lost their farm and they are white here in America. I dont see anyone trying to help them out.

We as "melaninate" people have to find self love in order to come together as a group of people, trust each other to pool our financial resources together, build our own financial centers and in this case, our own cane manufacturers. I want to support these farmers, not just my words, but with action. However, like some many people who desire to help, we lack the know-how, the $,$$$,$$$ to act. But this I vow, I want to indeed learn! Anyone know how to get a list of Black Farmers in Louisiana?

Don’t give up June! When God closes a door, he opens up a window. Keep your head up Farmer. You are needed. Be blessed. You have skills. Don’t give up Brother. Pray, Pray, and Pray. God is with the righteous. Have faith, and keep the vision of 1000’s Of acres of Sugar cane growing on your new and improved farm. God has acres waiting for you to farm. You lost a farm, you will get another, and it will be better. I pray God blesses you and your wife; with a massive bounty and a mountain of sugar cane! When a husband and wife pray together, they can overcome anything, with the power of God behind them, in front of them, beneath them, and around them. You and your wife will be victorious!
All the things discussed in this are the same things happening to most farmers I know. Farmers of any race. These problems are not unique to "black" farmers and not because of racism as a whole. The people that buy commodities don't know what color the farmer was. Commodities prices are set by supply and demand and grade or quality of the goods. It is entirely possible to raise a crop that will not sell for more than the cost of producing that crop. The more a farmer is operating on borrowed money, the more his cost to produce the product. To start from nothing, and buy land to farm is impossible and has been for some time. To borrow enough money to buy the land to farm would cost more to amortize the loan than the value of the crop....in most cases. All that being said, I know many successful farmers who farm land owned by others, using their own equipment and bearing all the production cost and almost every one of them has an operating loan....and if or when they can not repay the operating loan they are out of business, regardless of what color they are. By the way..... the split for farming another persons ground is usually 60/ 40 in favor of the land owner. Some would call that share cropping.
I stand with you in prayers . No weapon formed as you still prosper . may God lace his hands around your and the land that your ancestors fought for and died for May God walk with you through this journey. Like Bob Marley says don't give up the fight all blacks need to unite God got you man the struggle is definitely real
