I think the biggest problem he faced was his own label wanting him to be the next Justin Bieber. I mean, it worked for a while, but as he got older and his fans as well, his market wouldn't be the same as when he started and he would obviously try to find his own direction and sound. In a few words, I just think he lacked originality. I'm glad he didn't sell his soul to that label, but I found very odd that he was selling his pictures in onlyfans.
And to add on that, Justin Bieber even abandoned his previous image and is totally a different artist now so all those artist who can be considered as his copy cat at the time needs to evolve too because the guy that they were copying is figuratively gone.
I honestly think Austin’s career flopped because everyone expected him to become the new JB. While no one realized that he was not Justin Bieber but Austin Mahone, they realized too late that they had gone the wrong way and I’m really sorry because Austin has a lot of talent and it’s really a shame because it could have become very big.
I miss this era of austin mahone! Let alone the music. There was something special about 2009-2014. Music, clothing style and trends. Justin bieber, 1 direction, fifth harmony. Now the industry is all trap rappers with no originality, no more boy or girl bands, to many tiktokers, everybody wants there 15 minutes of fame. Market is saturated with to many personalities. BLAH. I wanna go back in time :'l
Why can’t artist just be artist and make their own art? Imagine if talented artists wrote and produced what they wanted instead of changing for popularity and labels.
The bitterest pill: life ain't fair. I say that in the nicest way possible. There is a lot about this world that doesn't make sense. Take solace knowing you recognize the injustice but please don't allow apathy to take hold. The best thing you can do is to be your truest authentic self. Other's will see that and admire you for it; outwardly or secretly. If everyone was able to be their true self there would be a lot more love going around. I believe that's our mission on this earth. You must find yourself and latch onto it; don't change it but also don't miss out on opportunities in fear you may change. You can navigate the system and remain true in your heart.
That's literally the difference between being independent or signed .you clearly don't understand the music industry. They're not there just for fun..the people who give you money to make quality music and make music videos want a return on investment...and when you can't even do double that then you're making a loss
Artists do that. But they are independent until a big label believe in them and signed them. For example Rina Sawayama. Was doing EP's and singles and she finally made it BUT... In the middle of the pandemic. Her popularity has gone now but her niche fans are still there supporting her. There is this singer Janine, she had a lot of success with her own work, so a big label signed, she dropped her first proper studio album and had a lot of bobs but it didn't seem to attract people, she couldn't give back the investment and the label droped her. She is working now in her stuff and fans still love her. That's how the music world works.
I still follow his music. He still makes music that is actually really good. He also made a single called “you got me” a while ago which is one of my favorites. He deserves to be more popular. He has new music now a project he calls magic city which is out now and it’s fire.
It's such a short window for these guys to make it. It seems like his energy and momentum dissipated at the wrong time. Biggest problem, as others have noted: he was marketed as pretty much a JB clone. It's difficult to break out of that mold no matter the talent you have. Mid-20s now, I just don't see a more mature market taking him seriously at this point. He had his 15 minutes, still has his talent and looks. He's way ahead of most of us🙂, so who knows?
The industry is saturated with acts like his, it’s never easy for artists to transition from teen audience popularity to the adult market. Mahone unfortunately wasn’t a big enough standout to successfully transition. What can I say, the industry is super tough.
I don’t think Austin has been flopping. I thinks the people in Music Industry probably just gave up on him, I mean his blow up big when he was noticed by fans and people. I think the reason why he had slowly fading away, is because he got overshadowed by other artists like Shawn Mendes. Like everybody know and like or loves Shawn and Austin is nothing now, it sad that Austin hardly hit same element he used to give back then.
I agree i hope if he put out new songs or collaborate with someone big, it blows up because I think we all really want him to be on the same level as his peers like Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, 5SOS, The Vamps, etc.
Discovered him through banga banga and use to be huge fan ever since then but then he stopped putting out music and i fell out of love on his music. I think his “this is not the album” project is solid. And say your just a friend is still a banger til this day
I just don't think he cares anymore. He's enjoying life and living it up and choosing what he actually wants to drop instead of labels pushing him to not be himself 🙏🏼
In my view ,Austin mahone failed to give atleast one mega hit song, like Justin Bieber's baby , Shawn mendes Stitches , Charlie puth see you again , Kesha tiktok , not all songs needs to be popular only one song can give artist an exposure which rising artist needs, but due to no mega hit songs I think Austin lost popularity by the time and eventually lost from music industry, he had the persona of artist like Justin Bieber but no megahit song collapsed him.
Yeah, he's hurting if you compare him to where he was, but as far as a musician goes, his net worth is still a million, and he owns his masters. What you missed is the blow up of Dirty Work in Japan. He was actually signed to Universal Japan for a while because of that song. But again, he couldn't sustain it. Still, though he lives well even if he's not pulling in 200 million a year.
He may not have wanted to be the next JB especially when you look at Justin's life and the struggles he has had with stardom. Unless you are exceptionally well grounded, usually by having a good upbringing, the industry can eat you alive.
It's sad to see where pop music is heading to like producers don't care about the music they put out. Making seem like they doing it to the pay the bills. Yep, pop music definitely changed over the years💯
i loved his song shadow. and i feel at his peak Bieber was jus on his way to the top and dominating and he had no chance to rise imo. Hopefully he makes a comeback
I don't like TikTok but please TikTok community make Austin popular agaaaaain. Now (2023) that pop boyband style of music is coming back so I wish Austin can have another chance...
I think what happened to Austin, is that he got overshadowed by other others. Like Shawn Mendes, along with Camila Cabello. Not saying that’s the reason why, but that’s what I think. Ever since he had dated her and Becky G too, as Austin kind of went downhill and Shawn shut up. As Shawn fake relationship with Camilla is sky rocketing.
I felt bad for Austin when the harmonizers bashed him because he was only trying to tell the truth about his pr with Camila. I think I'm the only Camila fan who still love him. I still love and support him because he is such a nice guy tho many harmonizers found him arrogant which is not the case at all. Flop or not I love the fact that he never gave up music. His music has really improved and he is currently working on a new album. I'm so ready 🙌
He has awards. Big awards. He has talent I just don't get how he has the money he has and just breezes through life. He's had a huge dry spell till Charlie Puth was nice enough to give him a song. Which went well with his voice. He's made other songs after that but wasnt as heard and were only alright. He's living life but idk how he's where hes at now, living the life he is, without making a memorable splash anywhere. I thought after Why dont we and that Galore shoot that it'd be his starting point to popularity but no. He's a nice guy but his humble nature has gone out the window
He has a great voice, he dances and also composes great songs, he has alot of talent, whoever said otherwise is cuz probably they've never listen his songs! The thing is, we live in a different era in which just having talent is no longer enough and the proof of that is all these people who come from Tik Tok 💁🏽 most of these people are not talented, but they have a pretty face and that alone is enough to attract the attention of thousands of fools and most of these Tik tokers want to be singers even without talent 🤷🏽 unfortunately this is the music scene nowadays!
One thing that’s probably played a big part in the decline of his career was his management people forget he was signed to Birdmans Cash Money Records which honestly I don’t think labels that primarily work with rappers really know how to market pop artists especially preteen pop singers Justin being signed to Scooter who already worked with a lot of young pop acts was the perfect match for his career plus having a major artist like Usher guiding you in your career probably played a major role in his success as well unfortunately i don’t Austin had all of that at his disposal not saying Birdman doesn’t know how to market his artists but working with a rapper I’m sure is totally different than working with a teenage pop star who’s fan base mainly consist of teenage girls
Soon he will have it he says he’s coming out with his album in a couple of months so let’s hope and pray I love his music to I love his sound reminds me of all music that was back then really good music that I loved so honestly he will get there OK just wait and see
Actually, his songs is really good to listen while you're on the road trip. He is so talented, can dance way better than Justin. He will be big one day, his time will come. The difference is Shawn, Justin and others were promoted by big people in music while Austin was dropped and was left behind. Imagine how hard it is for Austin.
“Way better than Justin” when he was tryna be him so baddddd from the hair all the way down to the song choices he’d cover on RU-vid… yeah right. ALSO Justin started from nothing got discovered randomly by scooter who no one knew then was mentored by usher just how Austin was mentored by Pitbull like Austin just lacked originality which is why he’s not big today or ever will be and is currently showing hole on only fans!
@@bizzlesctrl8007This is the comment. It’s so easy to shit on JB simply because he’s still one of the biggest in the industry 15 yrs after the fact. He’s been able to evolve etc. Austin also had push like you said, he’s just not original and definitely lacked charisma. Sucks to sucks but just because Austin didn’t make it doesn’t mean you have to put other artists down.
He is not doing marketing work for what sells but going for what likes. That doesn’t work from cultural stand point. But I do think he is more artistically talented than JB, both singing, dancing, athleticism, and his feel of the scene.
@uclaxlhuang disagree. Especially with Justin’s new album, it’s his most vulnerable, his producing/writing, etc. He also has charisma which Austin lacked and he’s able to reinvent himself more than people give him credit.
Many people in the music business have to stand behind your talent and promote you for years. The market is now congested with talent thanks to social media. Makes talent less valuable because it seems everyone can sing and dance. There is always someone younger and fresher coming along behind you.
Naw bro. The reason he fell off is he got caught up in the partying scene too much and then his dating woes turned off some of his more rabid female fans. Female fans are extremely fickle and will turn on a pop star for anything these days.
I used to like Shawn Mendes music but now I found him boring. I think Austin is a good artist, I found him complete; he plays instruments, dance and have a great voice.
won't lie, I found out about him just recently. Not being shady but 5H, Vmps and Shawn Mendes opened for him and got bigger than him. I mean.... anyways, jokes aside, this guy seems like he could do something. Hope he finds out his sound and get big
I’m REALLY late but I think that Austin is talented, but he is something you commonly see in the pop industry! He doesn’t have the star quality that Justin & Shawn have, and he doesn’t know how to keep up with the ever changing-trends of pop music. Plus, his record label basically trying to make him JB 2.0 didn’t help either. He was a lost cause from the get-go, but I wish him the best!
I guess people dont see him as an artist and get overshadow by JB debut..i wander what if he debut first before JB came out.. he must be on top right now
Easy to understand why: Starting as the "next" of someone who already exists is the WORST marketing strategy. EVER. Secondly his formula was a decade late. People like Ed sheeran, Adele and Billie eilish. By the time he tried to be "the next bieber" people were over the industry plan artists and the heearthrob formula no longer worked: even one direction flopped. Yes Bieber used this formula but in 2009-2012 it worked. Even bieber adapted (kinda because he's definitely struggling to remain relevant as well)
i think austin is no special top singer but is not justin biberic, austin should focus on the model world, he is a very handsome man, and the model world is good or the film world but no music stuff is good. I wish him success no matter what he does now
Lol I'm just now watching this but there is an episode of a podcast called outta pocket podcast and he explains what happened to his music and everything with him. He's a very talented person, he was just done wrong
The problem is no one believed in him. The labels were losing their pull due to streaming and the were betting on the people with the most clout. He was robbed of his own identity very early on so the only thing he needs to do is believe in himself and keep putting out music because he's still so young. It's a numbers game. He just needs to utilize social media better really. Anyone can get famous and the kid already has clout so do the math Austin. He's talented, but his window is closing for music if he doesn't act fast.
Austin Mahone follows me on Twitter and he’s still around and just now he posts on Instagram story June .20,2021 , and really we all thought he would become the second Justin Bieber ,what similar between me and him we got green eyes .
Just bad timing just like Jessica Simpson versus Britney Spears, but Jessica has been #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, Sony is a major company, Jive for Britney is a smaller company with a typical european sound by the swedish producer Max Martin, Jessica album was created by the former singer from Color Me Bad, Sam Watters, an american producer, and to be honest Jessica have a powerfull voice, Britney was a good performer
❤ if music 🎵 not for him it have acting , a model for brand name clothes. He will do gr8. He has alot of potential. I love him don't want to see him disappear.
