Easy answer: They milked the crap out of it way to quick until it was just straight up action figures instead of the transforming balls we actually liked.
In 4th grade I managed to get Bakugan and all toys in general banned across my entire school. I had traded Bakugan with some kids who later ended up regretting their decision to trade those Bakugan, which lead to me (I was pretty much the ringleader of anything Bakugan related going on) creating and enforcing a "no tradebacks" rule, which caused students to complain, after which the school decided to no longer allow toys in general. Those days were... interesting.
I remember this was SUPER popular at my elementary school but then Chaotic came out and everyone jumped ship to it in middle school, though people still watched and talked about the tv show. I remember a friend of mine turned into a kind Bakugan dealer and would buy bakugan's from the store then sell them to other kids on the playground for double the price. By the end of the year he was able to buy himself a ps3.
Oh my Lord i did they same thing with warheads, fake beyblade and bakugon damn that brings back memories I was able to buy many Pokemon cards with that money
Sounds like me when I was younger only i sold beyblade parts and remember using some of my money to get Pokémon leaf green near the release date(yeah I’m old) but Ye.
Bakugan has a strange place in my memories. It started when I was becoming already way into Pokemon, so I dismissed it as a ripoff. I never really got into the game, but the video game was pretty fun. But the biggest memory I have is of watching the anime. I really... really liked the anime for some reason. Julie best girl, except for maybe Fabia. I only remember watching the first and third seasons, but yeah I enjoyed it. One moment that's stuck with me, probably more as a meme than anything else, was... Ren I think his name was, having an overdramatic moment where he shouts, "I have chosen... A SIIIIIIIIDE!!!" and it was cheesy as hell but still hype. It would be cool to one day create my own card game to see if I can make a good but crazy story. I stand by the fact that Masquerade's true identity was one of the most intriguing twists or reveals I had seen at that age.
LOL Icon i liked that the seriea was already ahead in episodes so I didn't have to wait as long plus on teletoons they had the unique "we'll be right back" screens which grew on me; I was surprised when it got a new season and it was the second half of season 2 and its end that really made me like Bakugan; all the others had their own depths, and so yeah I grew to like the show for the uniqueness it had By the end of it I realized I liked the villains the most in the series
Jared Thompson Woah, you have the same first name as me! Spelled the same way too! Awesome! And yeah, I didn't know this show was made in Canada... Were you the best Ventus Brawler at your school back in the day too? Man, I miss my Ventus Lumagrowl. I had two full bakucases full of Bakugan and Bakutraps/Bakugear. And then my parents were like, "You're too old for this stuff now," and they threw them out. I hid my Lumagrowl from them, but eventually they found him too and he got sent to the "doom dimension" as well. I was like, "Goodbye...old friend." I had a metal bunk bed back in the day and I used to have all of my Bakugan on the metal bars on the top bunk as I fell asleep. I also used to put a gate card under my shirt where my shoulder was so I could make it look like a Bakugan was just sitting there on my shoulder cuz the gate cards were the metallic ones. Did anyone else do that as a kid? Man, I guess you could say I was a Duelist, Brawler, Blader and Trainer... I also played CHAOTIC! Dude, I've still got my Chaotic cards! Most are Overworld monsters from memory. I miss my childhood. Do you have similar memories of your childhood, Jared? (What country are you from? I'm just curious. I'm from Australia btw!)
To answer all questions, Bakugan was TECHNICALLY an anime made in Japan. The kicker was that it was more popular in North America and therefore had more seasons here. Although it did have popularity in the U.S, it was WAY more popular in America as it aired on Teletoon, which was a Canadian channel. In fact, when the second season was announced, a contest was held for fans to see the world premieres of the first episodes. Those premieres only happened in Canada, so it's safe to say it was more popular here. To answer your question NeverEndinChaos, I am Canadian and yes, I did actually win that contest and go to the screening in Calgary.
Purple Demon Heard it on the end of the video and got chills. It reminded my childhood of the good old times getting my cards stolen from my hands at school and having a friend who was a giant bakugan fanatic with a huge collection of bakugan and cards
Wait aren’t you gonna show the people the SICK INTRO man I love the intro Intro starts:TWO WORLDS COLLIDE ON THE INSIDE Me: yea you gotta for what’s right nene emend yea two worlds collide
I was in first grade when it started becoming popular. Everyone had one and this one kid used to bully me and make fun of me because he would “win” since I didn’t have one in the first place. The week after that I went to target, got Coin Scorpion (yes I even remember the name) bet my bakugan on his (I won obviously because coin scorpion raped everyone’s bakugan at recess) and I won and took his
Regardless of my efforts. This video was copyright claimed AGAIN! Please consider checking out my patreon if you want more of these kinds of videos because I really want to keep making them but I can't if all the money from the ad revenue is going to someone who doesn't deserve it. www.patreon.com/NegativeLegend P.S. Yes, I'm aware the snack was not in Spanish. That's my bad.
Negative Legend I saw tutor videos that chaotic and this one and I got to say this is pretty informative cuz I want to know what happened to both of them thanks!
Don't forget that the Beyblade metal franchise came out around the same time and completely and utterly destroyed bakugan. I remember bakugan was the best thing ever until everyone started coming out with Beyblades. I was one of those....I still hace mine
Here after the reboot, the toys have definitely gotten way more complicated and way cooler, not sure about the show or the game but I know sure as hell that these toys are way cooler than my childhood bakugan
The show is completely unrelated to the bakugan we know but it still continues with the same main character Dan Kazou but he's very young. I haven't watched more than 5 minutes so i can't say much about it.
The show seriously got a major down grade, basically decided to ditch the lore, story and interesting characters in favor of just random hyjinx with no actual end goal and school yard level villains, it almost insulting they gave the new characters Dan's name as there nothing alike
I'm just hoping the reboot's animation overall improves. Rewatching the series recently without the nostalgia glasses sorta left me to notice some choppy moments. But i seriously love Bakugan still, if only the story didnt go downhill like it did. Honestly i just hope thw rwboot doesn't go in the same direction as what the story for season 4 was.
Honestly i felt like it died near the end of season 3 cause Those intense power levels is what made it super good, Season 4 was just some mech reboot that went south, sure the nanogear was neat but how does raw energy summon giant mech bakugan, doesn't make sense
Mr.Sloth I've been reaching the Yu Gi Oh anime and had rewatched most of the indigo pokemon anime and I've noticed that with these ad anime the animation is terrible, and with Yu Gi Oh in particular, has terrible voice acting. Though on another note what do you watch it on.
My favorite thing to do was stick a card under the shoulder of my shirt and stick my lumagrowl on top of it and replicate the "floating on your shoulder" that the bakugan did in the show!
I used paper clips or safety pins because they were smaller and you could actually attach them to your shirt. Little less reliable, also because they're smaller, but it looked a little better =)
I never realized how much of a Bakugan fan I was, until you showed all the major toys that they released, and I realized that I had more than half of them. Like seriously, I have the video game, a guide book, a giant trap, a giant battle armor, three giant regular bakugan, every big combination set(Or at least three of them), a battle arena, multiple bakugan holders, a little hand held thing that shot the bakugan out at a card, and probably hundreds of bakugan cards and around 100 figures. And I thought I was a big Pokémon fan.
That Random Banana I realized how much of a fan I was to. I played the hell out of the first Bakugan game and collected some Bakugan as well. I even watched the show from start to finish, despite losing some interest with each new season after season 1
I use to wake at 5 am up playing the game final while my mom is sleeping (yes I sleep with my parent back then) and my dad off at work... is was the most emotional moment in my child hood
bananaman 506 I still remember forgetting my handstrap on the wii controller and once throwing my controller trying to throw the bakugan marble in-game
Otaku drawer very true but the first season was great till the bad guy was one of the main girls like the fuck also great op that was actually pretty good
5:32 "and unlike CHAOTIC!!" the anger is rising 5:45 "WE STILL DON'T A WORD ON A REBOOT OF CHAOTIC!!" the anger is real bring back chaotic i miss it ...i miss hearing...i miss the little bunny underworlder
+Jacob Tuell Why must you remind me of those happy days?! Every Saturday felt like a new adventure in the cartoon universe: Ben 10 (Stopped midway through Omniverse), Pokemon (stopped watching it about 4 years ago, Season 16), Beyblade (stopped after the original story line ended). And of course Bakugan (which I enjoyed so much up until Season 4). Ah, now all the weekend leaves me with is time to browse the Internet. I can't even bring myself to watch any of the new shows on Cartoon Network in fear of tarnishing my precious memories. Ahh, happy days...
Jacob Tuell In my country, the only remaining anime on Cartoon Network is Pokémon Sun and Moon, Beyblade and Dragon Ball. And fortunately, no crazy schedules of nothing but Teen Titans Go
The Bronze Tank The toys were kinda boring to look at unless you seen the show and could tell what they were. Like "Is this supposed to be a Pyrus Dragonoid or Pyrus Hydranoid?" Because the Bakugan often had subtle differences in the toy and were not limited to what color they could be. Dragonoid could be Darkus, Haos, Aquos, Subterra, Ventus (like the one in my junk drawer) or classic Pyrus and then there's the transparent and clear variants so I just didn't mess with them outside the first 2 seasons and video games. I still have all 4 DS games.
Dude I love bakugan. I actually thought it ended though, not just fell off oops-- I'm hype for the maybe reboot but yeah hopefully its not another Ben 10. I know people complain about this in like yugioh and beyblade, but I hope its new characters. The later seasons kinda stretched them out lol
It's pretty shit. It's slow but it tries to be rock. It's also got a pacing issue with the lyrics like as if they guy can't commit to either singing or rapping. Speed it up, throw in some more complicated words that have more syllables, and get rid of the "ahaa ahaa ahaa" bit and it'd be a lot better.
TheVideoGameManiac Ima go find my Nintendo 3DS now :) Because I have both games *Somewhere* *Update* I found my DS and a charger, I have now beat both games
Negative Legend, I have a few questions: 1. What's your favorite attribute/which would you brawl with? 2. Who was your favorite bakugan and brawler? 3. What do you think of the first two episodes of the reboot right now?
There wasn’t 1 guy at my old elementary school who didn’t like bakugan and brought them to school to play, not to brag but I was second best... ever since yu-gi-oh and bakugan stopped being a thing no one liked me
aww, i wasnt very confident in my understanding of the game so i lost a bunch because other kids would make up rules and id be like « well he probably knows better than i do »
You know what would make this awesome again is if they made a bakugan VR game but make it appeal less to just kids and focus on the battling aspect. i mean it would be cool to see a big ass drago standing next to you in VR
bakuya s yeah and you start whit one bakugan and you’re battling other dudes in order to win other bakugans, we should have the same leaderboard system that they had in the series
And i hope they add back the numbers(adds to the drama, i hated them just throwing card names with no indication of what really happend). Also buff Shun and nerf bloody "Dan the man". God season three and four was really disapointing now when i think about it. Ohwell, if they bring back the show they'll probaly bring in a new cast(or they'll want to capitalize on dragonold(its a refrence) and his sick sales numbers, and we will get a non original just as bad as season 3 and 4 bakugan series)
I remember being super into Bakugan when it was a thing, the toys were actually pretty cool. I lost interest somewhere in the 3rd or 4th series due to powercreep, but I'm still glad to see it coming back.
I loved this show so much as a child. I still have so many of these. There are quite a few I want to keep, however, I am wondering what I should do with the many I have no real want to keep. Should I sell them now, sell them a few or many years later. Also, my favourite attribute was Ventus. In fact, here's a bit of interesting trivia. Bakugan only ever had one official tournament, and the winner was a Ventus user.
I was lucky as a Kid, I litteraly had a belt filed with every element of bakugan, gauntlet and belt clip case for my cards. I wore those to school every day always ready for the next brawl. My friends called me "The Brawling Kid" cuz I was decked out like Billy the Kid only with bakugan.
I still remember my personal hype that surrounded Alice's secret. Since she was a part of the main cast, I always wondered why she never battled but still knew so much about the game. Was a great twist and seeing her finally battle was so satisfying, even if it was brief. Easily became my favourite character in the show.
There was a gacha game on PC there was a bakugan online game where you could either go out and buy the bakugan you wanted then enter the code for it in game and get it or get the in game currency and go-to the bakugan park shop and basically summon/pull for the bakugan you wanted
Whenever i talk about childhoods with my friends, they say theirs were pokemon, legos, game cube, etc but they answer with "wuts dat?" When i mention bakugan. Its kinda sad how underrated it was
It wasn't underrated. There are two things to keep in mind, 1. the show followed beats that other anime such as Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, and so many others followed, and 2. the only reason Bakugan sold well in the States is because of the toys. There is a very good reason for this.
the moment Bakugan turned into a VR was the moment the downfall began. The gundanian war was interesting but had a few flaws and plotholes, as well as it didn't have the balls to kill the henchmen like New Vestroia did (seriously that was freakin awesome). And then...season 4 came, and any semblance of Bakugan being a game vanished. I still can't wrap my head around whatever the hell that 4th season was.
I hated the series once it started going on about that interspace shit i recall new vestroia and original being good but I really need to rewatch to know for sure.
Every week or so I would go into this guys backpack in 3rd grade and stole his Bakugan all the time and he would always come in crying cuz his Bakugan was missing.
Well i think it flopped because they kept changing things example We kept Marucho, Dan, and Shun. They replaced Alice, Julie, and Runo every single season. Instead of season 4, we Shouldve had a tournament in which Dan, Marucho, Shun, Julie, Runo, Alice, Chan, lee, Julio, Klaus, Billy, Komba, Mira, Ace, Barron, Gunz, Along with like 10 nee characters compete to see who the best brawler is. Season 3 and 4 were not cohesive like season 1 and 2. And i think that really hurt Bakugan in the long run, as well as dropping fan favorites such as Skyress Preyas & Angelo/Diablo Ingram Elfin Gorrem Tigrera
Bakugan as a show went south so fast. Season 1 -- Pretty decent, entertaining, solid cast of characters, great secondary atnagonist, good premise, strategic fighting despite being kind of bad and wonky rulewise, a few weird inconsistencies. Season 2 -- Terrible "and then there were Aliens" plot, terrible homage to original cast of characters by shitting on half of them and their partners just to build tension, great rework of the fighting mechanics, terrible replacement cast, mostly weak villains/antagonist, too much reliance on robotic alternative narrative Season 3 -- same issues as season 2 especially with the "AND THEN THERE WERE ALIENS" plot, decent fighting rework, decent replacement characters, terrible additions to fighting mechanic, terribly evident and ridiculous power creep that made no sense, retarded origin story about where all Bakugan came from, shorter than any other season. Season 4 -- Worst season by far, basically turned into the worst iteration of transformers I have ever had the displeasure to see, complete nonsense constantly made up on the go that was infinitely worse than season 1. The video game's plot with Leonidas was better than seasons 2-4.
Corinus Richen I'm gonna have to agree with the Leonidas part. I haven't seen very much of the later seasons, but the Leonidas storyline was pretty good. I wish he would appear in the reboot (also, one thing I noticed is that Leonidas and Exedra have similar roars)
Liopleurodon 2000 I consider Leonidas as one of the big three of Bakugan. Leonidas, Naga, and Wyvern. Wyvern is who that brings forth, Naga is the one that ends it, and Leonidas is the one who looks over and brings peace to the souls in the afterlife by fulfilling their unfulfilled wishes, hopes, and dreams. I sorta gave them the legendary treatment.
Andres Marrero Uh...well, none of that is true or close to what they are. Neither "Wayvern" nor "Naga" were assigned any godlike duties. They were literally just Bakugan without attributes who were considered feeble and week due to the lack of an elemental affinity. Leonidas was just born from the suffering of those eternally damned to the doom dimension. The only wish he would be fulfilling would be revenge.
Corinus Richen well Naga got the silent core, Wyvern got the infinity core, and leonidas was born in the afterlife by the suffering of many souls. They were pretty godlike. Also the whole thing about being weak a feeble because they don't have an attribute seemed really silly to me because that means that are can adapt very easily to just about anything and they aren't really weak to anything. A lot of the tricks don't work on them because they don't have an attribute.
The Pokemon Show same. I was into it before Pokémon, and when bakugan disappeared, I guess I just switched over to Pokémon. I have tons and tons of figures left alone in my closet.
Arsh Liquir Yo! That Bakugan from the video game? I liked it too. Having Leonidas made you feel like you were part of the Battle Brawlers, as well as part of the story. *adds Bakugan to the list of games from my childhood I'm still yet to play again*
Leonidas was the shit bruh, I made 4 accounts on the Playstation 2 as a child and played with Haos,Darkus,Ventus, and i can't remember the other. But i played nonstop, Maxed out all my Bakugan and dominated every battle
I always used Haos Leonidas cause I thought his color was dope but my favorite memory was unknowingly having the main characters Bakugan from the anime and all my friends being like your the main character, on the playground we played the game like it was real imaging giant monsters clashing and I always pulled out the win just like the main character lol those were the day's!
Masquerade was cool but they messed up his character revealing that he was actually Alice,I never knew, did they switched genders also? Or how did it worked? Spectra was the best, even his name is badass
Masquerade Oh man, memories flowing back, gotta go on a Bakugan hype binge; I've got a sudden urge to rewatch all the seasons and replay the video game. I think I'll go do that now.
I so agree about the new Ben 10 and teen titans go. I use to like teen titans go but when I saw the original show, I was like "Why the heck did they change the animation, or why did they cancel it on a very vague final episode?" What got me was the fact they made an episode blaming a villain who can controls tv's that he's the reason why the show was cancelled. So I hope the reboot would at least might have the same voice actors if their up to it, and hopefully just maybe the same animation but more fresher if not I ain't watching that series. Though I do hope the toys would be kind of new yet would be the same from before the show was cancelled if not again I won't buy it, I mean if its not even close to a bakugan we see in the original show and toys. Then McDonald's kids toys of bakugan is way better then.
I miss Bakugan so much, and I'm glad you told me that there is a small chance that the series would return. I hope it continues from the end of the series when Dan and Fusion Dragonoid are together going somewhere on a boat. I have ideas for the name and plot of Bakugan season five. It is called, "Bakugan: Islandic Chaos". Plot: Dan and Drago stumble upon a mysterious island thirsting for adventure. They find out that it is populated with humans and bakugan that have become enslaved by a group of powerful Aquos attribute bakugan that have ruled the island and its inhabitants forcing them to do their bidding. Dan and Drago are now on a mission to rescue the enslaved humans and bakugan, fight alongside each other, and overthrow the tyrannical Aquos bakugans. What do you think?
Rowan Mayer Same I unknowingly had the main characters Bakugan Dan was the protagonists name I think I was unbeatable and all my friends called me the main character I unironically pulled out the win everytime like the main hero good times my man.
I remember seeing a video billiam made on bakugan somewhere around April. I forgot about bakugans even though there was a darkus bakugan I still had that was my aunts from I think 2008 or 2009. A few weeks later I found bakugans at a store and decided to buy a starter pack that included 3 of them and a separate bakugan from battle planet. I loved them and about a few months later I started to collecting more of them, but they were from evolutions. Right now I have about 11 bakugans. 14 if you include the 2 Nanogon and 1 Geogon
King_ Hello brother, we must once again rise to the top. We have seen the fall of pokemon and digimon and now is the best time for us to make a comeback. Pokemon is basically officially irellevent now and so is digimon and Yu Gi Oh hasn't seen the light of day in a long time and its community straight up can't raise its popularity. It is time to show them that bakugan is superior over all. All hail Bakugan, the one true card game.
RandomRU-vid Channel Didn't you hear in the video, it's coming back for a new toyline and a rebooted series and maybe...just maybe we might get a remake of the bakugan battle brawlers videogame that's even better than the original. My fellow brotherin we must unite and raise bakugan to its former glory.
I played bakugan competitively when it came out. I was a member of the forums, very community involved. You wanna know the real reason why it died. They kept trying to add new shit. Not good shit either, just useless ass gimmick mechanics like trap bakugan. And they were doing it every couple months, constantly changing the rules on players. So players like me who were sick of re learning the rule book every month stopped. We gave up on the show and toys and just quit. The community at the time was really frustrated It’s sad because they really did have a good thing going. As young justice shows, unless a show can sell toys, it’s doomed to die unless the fandom is strong enough to bring it back. Why buy toys to a broken game. I hope they don’t make the same mistakes with the reboot.
OMGGG NOSTALGIA! XD ME AND MY DAD WOULD LIKE WORK TOGETHER TO DEFEAT THE OTHER PLAYERS AND EVERYTHING. I could probably type this comment for like twenty minutes talking about all my fond memories of that online game and my experiences with the toys, but I'll save you the annoying (and probably uninteresting) details and just say, it was a good time. Several months ago, I tried watching the anime again to see if maybe I'd like it. However it didn't grab me by the shirt and I had a hard time sitting down to watch it XD But I can say that I'm a fan of the neat little toys to this day, just like when I was a little girl 9-6 years ago.
That fucking game made me buy that expensive ass 7 in 1 maximus dragonoid shit and got closed before I was even able to activate it. It was really expensive and now every part of it is lost :(
I found johnny ok for a couple of seasons... It kinda went to shit real freaking fast though (then again cartoon network as of now seems to forget that its audience is ages 8 to like 15... And has shows more meant for 5-8 year olds)
I used to always buy these toys and the next day i went to the store and didnt find them and again and again and still didnt find them.. But its just a store not a toy store
