Aside from covid, it appears he's been quite busy (and appreciated) this past decade, so that's great. Rick Beato recently made a vid highlighting Cross's incredible guitar solo on "Ride Like the Wind", wondering why the solo was so low in the mix.
Christopher Cross is an ISFP (artist) character temperament type. I think the lower solo was part of the art. I listen to Rick Beato also. He has a good video about the best Chicago song of the 70's.
I was surprised to hear Chris was high on LSD when he wrote Ride like the Wind.He struck gold in 1980 and deserved every award he got! His voice is amazing! I can't say enough good things about him. Summer of '80, every where you looked you'd see that flamingo emblem, all the nightclub DJ's had copies of it! Laugh don't cry!
I respectfully disagree with the Top Ten at the end of this video. Understated, I absolutely love his music. Here’s my top fifteen. 1. Sailing 2. Ride Like the Wind 3. Arthur’s Theme 4. Never Be The Same 5. All Right 6. Think of Laura 7. Swept Away 8. Back of My Mind 9. Walking in Avalon 10. November 11. Words of Wisdom 12. Praying 13. Long World 14. When You Come Home 15. Dreamers
It looked like Christopher Cross seemed destined for his rocket ride to musical stardom. But Sailing did a much better job at painting a wonderful picture of what it seemed to be early 80's yacht rock.
I don't have all of Chris' music, but what I do have, I really enjoy. I hope he is doing well now, and the future is bright and full of good things for him. Thank you for making this video.
This particular video has a TON of mistakes in it. MANY facts are WRONG. This man is a living legend and an American treasure. PLEASE get your facts checked prior to releasing them. Thanks.
