Thanks for putting out this video, brother. I really appreciate it. I am in the editing phase for my latest vid right now, so I should have it up soon. I miss George too, and I think you did a great job clearing the air. I also wouldn't have a channel if it weren't for his trail blazing and encouragement. I had direct contact with George's daughter-in-law several months ago and she told me all is well and that George was traveling, relaxing, and taking some "Me time."

my thoughts exactly. he was always my go to when i wanted to learn something because he has probably made a video about it. he genuinly seems like a great guy and i want him to be happy, healthy, and for gods sake i hope it wasnt people in the community giving him a hard time that caused him to step away.

I hate to think I might not get to see any more videos from George, but I wish him well in whatever he's doing. I've learned so much from you and George and Bearded over the years. The distilling community is by and large a sort of extended family and I love the idea of supporting each other. Thansk for the shout out and the list of other channels. There are a couple of channels on that list I haven't heard of and will definately be checking them out. Have a kick ass week Jesse.

Jesse, you are a class act in your tact in providing this information to the community. Bottom line is it takes a tremendous amount of time develop the skills to create, film and especially edit good content. Very few people have both the skills and personal time to pull it off. Those that do, mostly do it because they enjoy the process. And when the cons outweigh the pros, it's time to get back to one's real life. Props to George and B&B for making the required work/life balances they needed. To the haters, they are not worth your thought or breath. They are people that are unwilling and unable to put in time and effort to gain the skills and experience to make valid criticisms of those that have skills and life experiences. If they had gained those skills and experiences, they would appreciate what you share with us. Looking forward to seeing some more B&B content, best wishes to George and am looking forward to the new batch of content producers.

Absolutely, without George i would have never gotten into distilling myself. He feels like that cool high school teacher who would motivate you and make you believe in yourself, the kind of people you look back on later in life and just be grateful that you got to go along for the ride for a bit

Same here, the insight these gentleman gave us into the craft is what pushed me into making the investment into home distilling. Thanks to these guys I have been able to produce a product that I have enjoyed with friends and family. I’m giving different kinds of distilled spirits away as gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas and now the birth of another grandchild. I really had fun making and enjoying some George Washington Rye Whiskey. I never knew our First President was such a distiller and I loved making it to his original recipe.

I’m a retired engineer, I worked in a weapons lab for the United States Air Force. So I’m close to George’s age, just a few years older, and have similar military background. So that said I really clicked with George’s personality, his physics, chemistry, and engineering approach to distilling. I’m no different than many on here, even now finding out that several of my son’s friends have been watching George, that were it not for George I would not be enjoying the craft of distilling. Being retired and close in age to George I salute him for the work and heart he put into his channel. I wish him all the best, I thank him from the bottom of my heart for what he has given me, I hope someday to meet him, shake his hand, and thank him personally. George I hope you are safe and well and enjoying your retirement with your wife and family. God bless you, thank you for your long military service to this country, and perhaps one day our paths will cross and we can share our war stories. Bill in Mustang Oklahoma

Didn't know bearded, but watched a lot if George. He was pretty entertaining even if you weren't distilling. I think its a neat hobby. To bad in the U.S. it's still federally illegal and illegal in most states. Land of the free ain't always free. Ah well, glad they're both ok.

I remember finding George’s channel and thinking I was an outlaw by watching his videos lol. He will be missed but the break makes sense he had more than his fair share of internet trolls and real @$$hats that would spam comment on his content. Hopefully he comes back because like so many others he is the reason I got into distilling. Also he is the reason I found you (still it) and bearded. George really did make sure others became winners!

I don't know man. I do enjoy the channel and have been following for a year, but you're no less guilty than anyone else when it comes to spreading misinformation. There is *no* reason this should have been so difficult to put out, so no reason for the melodrama. It could have been less than 1 minute in length. "I've received a lot of questions. Using my own relationships and status in the home distilling community, I've learned George is alive and kicking, just wanting to take a break." Done. Instead we get this cagey, weird, alluded to something (but impossible to know what) story about something that may have happened. Or maybe not. But who knows. So, you've perpetuated innuendo and rumor at the very same time you're saying you're not doing it, and chastising others for doing so. Sorry, but a serious swing-and-a-miss here.

I agree with you on everything other than the RU-vidrs working for "free" part. You're literally getting paid from ads for our time. It's our time that pays you. You don't owe us anything, and we shouldn't expect anything other than good content for our time and what keeps bringing people back. If George wants to take a break then he should be able to as much as he wants. But when you put yourself open to the public you're putting yourself to the mercy of some of the fools of the internet. Not saying what they do is right or any of that but it's more than just a black and white thing though.

I believe George is retired? So why wouldnt he be allowed to take a break and enjoy himself. Just hope he is well. I will say that I have had 2 successful distilling runs and I am working on my 3rd thanks to George and his knowledge. Even ran my still successfully with a PID controller that he showed me how to build on RU-vid and I thank him for that.

George is Epic and loved the way he would breakout the whiteboard and go through everything. I picked up a lot from him and it was a light switch of a difference in final drink. Love the list of other channels and chuckled because I already watch 3/4 of them. There is another startup guy that's going through some stuff called The Proofing Room. he does things that are low budget, DIY..

George is a wonderful person and I count myself lucky to have had interaction with him. He deserves a break no matter. His material is so in depth and the collection so large you could study for years and years and still miss things. He did that massive collection out of love for his craft and love of us. He is not obligated to interact at all with us but he did and that was also out of his kindness. I miss George as much as anyone and I miss him all the time. I always told George he so reminded me of my grandfather. He was so smart... both men the smartest I ever knew. George was not just a shiner, he was a scientist. He had all the numbers laid out for us. Explained the process in depth. He was an inventor and an innovator, but more than that an artist with a hell of a sense of humor. Toward the end I watched things go on that quite disturbed me. This is not second hand this is I saw with my own eyes. I watched some trolls bully George and it really disturbed me the way individuals act. There were also over the top fans that were being obnoxiously demanding expecting him to be at their beckoned call. He is a gentleman and didn't have a mean or rude bone in his body and put up with a lot of nonsense. Everything you need to know is still up on his channel. Everything you need... all the science and the numbers that are so crucial. I hope he enjoys his peace and solitude in retirement he deserves it. That I suppose is all I have to say. George if you are reading this... THANK YOU for all your years of service to us! One last thing... when trying to weld stainless to copper use the acid based stay clean soldering flux ;)

Love George! However….. IF I had a popular channel, and I wanted to take a break for a bit, I would simply make a video and say “Hey folks, I’m tired & I want to take a break.” This would be the best way to handle it IMO. Just disappearing is unfortunate and a disservice to his fan base.

I started watching George way back when I first started home brewing, really enjoyed his content and detailed explanations. A while back there were some ads on social media using some of his content and I imagine that had something to do with him taking a break. Looking forward to seeing bearded back whenever he can. I was thinking about George the other day, mentioned it to my friends since I am a home brewer, just not sure about getting into distilling but enjoyed his videos. Nice call outs to the other channels, City Steading is what got me into mead and wine making.

Thank you Jesse, I wouldn’t have started myself if it weren’t for these of you guys. All 3 channels have literally been my education. And I have a question for everyone to weigh in on. Not trying to change subject but there are a lot of folks focused here and I respect everyone’s input. I’ve been aging a small batch initially on used lightly charred oak, then replaced with toasted pecan. It holds its own on the nose and palette warm or cold, however if you add ice it changes everything very drastically. My question is pulling the wood and bottling. Has anyone ever pulled and found the flavors fade due to pulling to early? If I leave it on, what is the chance if over doing the wood profile? Jesse, I’ve watched many episodes where you’ve had this same question. How did you make your decision?

I think the bigger question is what happened to Jesse #1 and #2, there were clearly 2 other Jesse variants in play in the early days. ..and who's the guy in the channel header? Jessepe? so Jesse #3, what happened to Jesse #2 (Short beard) and #1 (Long beard)? Where'd all the non-black tops go? why the off/on beard growth? where'd all this confidence come from? but most of all, where's Jessepe from 5 years back? :) Much love dude, hopefully YOU keep on doing this RU-vid thing.
