@@claytonstarrjr9788 And !! So what if he was. You think you're the first person to say that. That shit gets old. It doesn't matter who he was talking about, a good song is a good song.
@@hayleyburns.9384 nigga who the duck is you ? Did I call for you? Hell naw so keep my name out your mouth cause you don't know me..you on here defending an DL ...you might be on the DL too!!!
Whatever happened to the group portrait because here we go was my jam and still is to this day I'll never forget when they were on an episode of Family Matters
I love Portrait’s music. They were definitely underrated in the 90s. I watched an interview with them here on RU-vid, they were talking about their 2nd album how that album didn’t get much commercial success and basically forced them out of the limelight. They’re still making music today with two of the original members.
I love portrait oh my God my favorite song from them is day by day and Night by night. I also like honey dip and here we go of course those are just the ultimate '90s r&B moods for me. I would love to watch a documentary on portrait they were amazing. They were on family matters weren't they?! They sure was I'm going to try to look it up
Ribbon in the sky and come inside.... Super classics... Definitely a talented group and Kenny's voice and pen game was second to none... Rest in peace Kenny ❤️
Omg I use to LOVE them! I listened to their tape on my Walkman every morning on my way to school. Then they just disappeared. Back then there was no explanation and ppl would just forget about it. I did not learn about Kenny's background and passing until recently. RIP Kenny
In an interview, Buddy said that they were waiting for Unsung to contact them but, they never reached out. So, that's why they decided to do their own documentary.
I soooo agree with you? Unsung probably don't know alot of information about Kenny except what he did music wise and what he died from. And the family most likely won't agree to do the episode also won't give an okay for Tv One to do it on Kenny.
I remember reading the sister to sister article about Kenny Green it was soo sad one of the members didn’t go visit him in the hospital and he was dying
Me too! I will never forget I read that Sister to Sister article while at work. I read the article in a hospital gift shop ( was on a work break at the time🤭) and I remember feeling shocked and sad about that article interview. He stated he contracted that A-thing from a male nurse he was dating.😔...The nurse didn't have any symptoms but he had it. So sad.
@@yellowsubmarine3725 I can see it too I've always seen it even when I wasn't old enough to be looking I remember the ones from Roni video the live version😁💀.
I still jam both of their albums! I remember that Sister 2 Sister interview. I was glad that Kenny finally got to speak his truth and was so upset when he passed. He was truly the heartbeat of the group. ❤️
I remember I used to subscribe to Sister 2 Sister magazines(amongst others) and I kept this issue and the interview made me feel some type of way. I felt sad for some reason.
Kenny Greene and Prince were the only two artists that when I found out they passed, I literally stared at the wall all day long. For Princes death, I heard Devante Swing did the same thing, and I respect him for it because Prince actually dissed him back in '89/'90 when he took the Greyhound all the way from NC to Minn. to Paisley Park to try to become an in-house producer. It kinda of messed with me that I just found out that Trisco and Jessie D of Force MDs got knocked out the box along with Faith's producer that brought out the ballad material on her '95 Faith CD: Chucky Thompson. Ronnie Wilson, Uncle Charlies (1 of his brothers) from The Gap Band, Desmond Tutu, and Sidney Portier. Grim Reaper is catchin' wreck out here in these streets, guys.
I hope you do stories on Color Me Badd, Tara Kemp, Onyx, Shai, AZ, Today, Groove B Chill, Keith Murray, Mase, Amerie, Horace Brown, 3T, just to name a few
A cop? Wow! I tell ya......these documentaries are nothing short of wonderful. Learning more and more. R.I.P. Kenny. I remember like yesterday receiving the news that he’d died. Another stellar performance, Queen Narrator. 💖💖💖
💔RIP Kenny Greene 🙏 I still listens to Intro. Kenny's voice is undeniable dude can sang like crazy. I love they're beautiful ❤️ version of tha Stevie Wonder CLASSIC "Ribbon In the Sky"
Loooove Intro. That whole album was bumping! They were soooo underrated. When I seen Intro on that episode of New York Undercover, I knew Kenny was deathly SICK. He looked awful. REST ON KENNY G♥️
If he caught it in the earlly or mid 90"s, there were no cure for AIDs . Even with treatment back then, people stil died. In 2001 when he died, they were just being able to treat individuals with this illness. But, I'm more inclined to believe what others posted. Kenny knew something was wrong ,but hid it of fear of rejection. Or, he was in denial.
He wrote reminisce as well and another song on that album he wanted intro to have a similar sounding song so they recorded ectasy of love which was only on the CD version.
I still love Intro, it hurt my soul when Kenny passed. Both of their albums are still played by me and will be forever. Imagine all of the great music we are missing because the genius passed away. 🖤
I remember that sister 2 sister interview shortly after he passed away. Very sad. He is still a legend in my eyes!! He wrote the best songs in that time.
Yes he was bisexual! But it didn't take away from his talent he and the will never be another Kenny! I still listen to his music and those things are still going on today! Rest well Kenny you are truly missed!!
Their first CD was a banger! No skips! The 2nd was good as well. But it definitely was different that their first release. My ex boyfriend was stationed with both Buddy and Kenny.
Intro is why ribbon in the sky was sung in my wedding. I used to think it was their original song instead Stevie wonder’s lol. The producers of unsung need to reach out to these dudes! I also loved their 2nd album too! RIP Kenny ✊🏾
@@vernonnilesjr8752 yes he admitted to being on the down low it was very brave of him to talk about something he could have said nothing about he was honest about who he was .
Man, I always find myself wanting to know what happened to certain artists until I see the bad news or how much they struggled and it makes me feel sad.
I don’t really remember this group like that but, it was easy to spot that Kenny wasn’t “straight”. So sad when ppl struggle with things alone 🥺 especially when they are in the spotlight painted to be something they aren’t. Double struggle.
They were extremely on fire during their time and all the ladies had their albums in rotation you just can't take too long to come out with the next album
For Always on that Tyrese 2, 000-Watts album is one of my favorite songs. Didn't know Kenny did vocals for that joint. It's a great song! If you haven't listened to it check it out! Also just check out that entire album by Tyrese, it's my favorite by him.
Kenny "G Love" Greene & Davante Swing were both da 90's versions of Berry Gordy!! "Don't Leave Me" 6:02 BEFORE Da surgeries!! Neva knew They recorded a 3rd Album.
I D0NT BELIEVE HE PAST AWAY... So Many Reasons and Strung Out are my two favorite Intro songs. I be studying this R&B 90's era like it's a college course and went crazy when I first heard those two tracks a couple of years ago lol
