What Happened To Lecrae? | Deconstructing Christianity 

Finally someone calling out this foolishness.

Actually, I came from a small church and there was still a lack of true community and unity. A lot of gossip and slander going on. It was a lot of fake people coming together to put on events for clout and there was no love. So I agree with him on that point.

It’s crazy cuz the youth take his word as bond & he’s leading a TON of people astray with these ideas.

After he deconstructed, now he wants to speak for God about what the church is supposed to be.

Seems my boy Lecrae has never heard of a real church, and assumes the only churches in America are the mega-churches that invited 116 to do concerts.

I remember feeling discouraged about church around Covid.. and i was corrected. The Lord's church will not fail. No matter how much we see that is discouraging regarding the church, it WILL NOT FAIL. 🙏🏾

My wife saw it a long time ago. I used to tell her I see some of the things, but we just gotta continue to pray for him that God would keep them in the faith. I’m glad you’re doing something on that hour long video that I did not want to see.

And my church is literally 20 ppl or less some sundays. Sounds like he’s been to big churches and a little jaded. He’s viewing church from one perspective like this is how it is everywhere around the globe which is kinda sad. It’s important we worship Jesus daily it’s beautiful to fellowship with other believers also help the community. So much good comes out of church. Lecrae should find a small church that’ll be great for him

yeah Lecrae was solid, too be honest though, he blew up quick and after Rebel, things started changing. Not saying he used Christianity to get famous, but I will say, you can see the change where it seemed fame may have exposed his heart. For all that is in the world-the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life-is not from the Father but is from the world.1 John 2:16

In the beginning of my walk of faith I was pointed to the cross by him and Andy Mineo man I will never forget that they were my encouragement , my motivation,to seek Christ and get to know him. I will always give thanks for that but I do pray for him and the 116 gang that they come to Christ and truly trust in him so they may stand on the word of God which is sufficient and infallible to equip us due to its trustworthiness in Christ name . I was commenting on one of the premieres of Lecrae’s podcast where I was saying that when he discourages people from finding others to fellowship with inside a local church he is coming from a place of privilege. The average person finds others who believe in Christ inside that church structure that has been developed. People started calling me a hater and said I shouldn’t be on there just to talk bad, so I said, “Yeah I know you gon’ label me a hater, but inside these people greater than the songs they creatin’ mayne!” - Lecrae

The only thing I can say in any way that gives lacrae a sort of, 'break' (not the best word) would be the fact that it's indeed very difficult to find a SOUND biblical church these days. It's about 90% apostate at worst, shallow and hallow at Best for churches that I've found in my life. We consider it perhaps the biggest blessing we've had, my wife and I; finding and being a member of our current church. So I get that, and that alone. Our church is on a GOOD day, maybe 75ppl, and I mean a REALLY good day. Lol. But I also believe God draws us to where He'd have us go so then again 🤔

Lecrae almost sounds like he’s about to leave the faith completely or going down a progressive route. In that same interview he mentioned about infrastructures needing to be burned to the ground. I almost want to know from him what are the essentials of the faith? Because the way he was talking, it made me think that anyone was invited to the party. As long as you love Jesus, thing about that is, there’s soooooo many different Jesus’s so that was the part that had me wonder where’s he truly going with all of this. I would like to see how he reacts when hip hop is deconstructed . And we start to say it’s not about recording albums, it’s not about gathering people in a building. It’s all about free styling on the corner, graffiti and break dancing. He’s basically saying I don’t like the mega church so let’s burn all churches. On China, if church was legal they would not meet in houses. This reeked of self-centredness.

This is an example when you try to mix the world with the gospel. People come up with crap like this to mingle with the world but don’t realize that they are playing a dangerous game. The church is part of a relationship with Jesus because it keeps us grounded with wisdom from the elders. The Holy Spirit helps when we go to bible study, Sunday school, and communion 🙏🏾💜✝️

I started following Lecrae when he was with the cross movement. You can definitely tell a difference in his music when he was with CMR and now.

From my perspective as a high school teacher let me point this out: a high percentage of our young people have grown up in fragile families, including Lecrae (as his bio will confirm). In God's design, a church is a family of families, but if you've never experienced a safe, loving, stable family, you won't know what to look for in a church. To evangelize the youth (especially those with no experience of family structure or church of any kind), it starts with establishing relationships and community. They are desperately seeking connection.

I even would argue that Scripture shows by way of Paul and others that Sunday did become the day of gathering that we call "The Lord's day." I'm not saying someone is sinning for going some other day but we don't just go on Sunday strictly because of "tradition" as was said in this video. We go on Sunday because we believe the Bible has prescribed it. Scripture perscribes our worship services as far as the reading of the word, hymns, preaching, and the Sacraments. So Scripture does tell us how to do church (not actually where but how.) So Lacre calling sitting on an interview satge mentiong Gid is not how church has been perscribed.

The first problem is that Lecrae needs to be saved. I said that the first time I heard his music years ago.

My question is why are they not wanting to go to a church building anymore? It’s a place where like minded people should want to meet and worship together. This is a spirit of confusion and the enemy playing with his mind. The enemies goal is to take down the church and this way of thinking is going just that. What helped me have a relationship with god was being taught by my Bible based pastor and then continuing to live in relationship as the week continued.

Lecrea's upset because he did not create the revolutionary upheaval in the church that he thought he would and he doesn't like people speaking the truth to him.

I do not believe church attendance is a do-or-die affair. Whichever is your current situation, make sure that the Holy Spirit is leading & in cooperation with you. If/When you do engage in fellowship with other Christ-believing/following/serving brethren, then there must be order, orderliness & the proceedings must be Christ-focused/centered. The type of "fellowship" Lecrae described here, sounds like the type rebuked by Apostle Paul as it regarded the Holy Communion. I, also, don't think a fellowship has to consist of the entirety of the clergy in representation therein for it to be considered a church, if church is essentially the people. *_"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."_* (Matthew 18v20) I don't believe Hebrews 10v25 is a commandment but an exhortation as GOD pulled me out of the one i was well-entrenched in. Kept dragging my feet for years. You can't just be stuck, going through the motions in a church that's not been serving you for a significant while. Afterall, *_"Sabbath was made for man and not man for the sabbath"_* The Holy Spirìt is ALWAYS there to help us, as long as He is involved before & during the journey.

I don’t agree with the current deconstruction of Lecrae but his take on the western church in the beginning is correct, even in biblical sound theological churches the western individualism is right in the church and it’s very hard to connect.

You definitely don't have to go to church, but if with the right church community, it will have your growth help you reach more souls and help you thru hard times

I wonder if it would be helpful to reach out to Lecrae and have a discussion with him. I will pray for him but I do think that someone needs to sit down with him and clear up any misunderstandings he has about the faith including church gatherings and fellowship.

Is this not the excessess of worldly rugged individualism. It must be hard being a famous person and having people getting see through the facade that is your public image. What better way than to create an unfounded lifestyle where you can exempt yourself from the gathering, call that a distortion, and look self righteous for not being a part of a body that doesnt get it right all the time. They at the very least see the need to obey God in this despite difficulties. When you are alone and a stranger to other believers, you will be tempted to fall and will have rough go getting back up.

What he is doing is dangerous. He’s leading others around him to think like him and to go astray. That is dangerous. God has an account for all of us imagine the day we see him and he tells us you led my children astray instead of leading others to their salvation.

Now who says God isn't using Lecrae to reach the world for him?

I’m not interested in belonging to a church right now because I was hurt by the people in the church but I’m still a believer in Christ and his word and I have hope that God will place me in another church in the future

I’m curious where he went to church? I experience community, fellowship, order, and the same people coming to church, for the most part, and there aren’t any “theatrics” as he explained it.

I use to rock with Lecrae, I think I know more of his songs word for word than any other artist. I use to rock with Kirk Franklin. I use to rock with Eshon Burgundy. I use to listen to these guys when I was early in my walk with Christ. But now that I've grown, I've studied and asked the Lord for understanding, wisdom, discernment, to change my heart and renew my mind ... I see them different now. I see everything through a different lense now. I feel like Lecrae and Kirk just absolutely can't let go of the things of the world. One foot in the presence of the Lord and another foot in culture. Then Eshon is so dope on the mic, maybe the best lyricist in the field of believers who rap but I think he's changed his alignment.. I'll pray for the brothers. I'll ask God to provide me with a mind to understand and a heart to love. I could be wrong in my assessment but may God provide in areas we lack.

Systematic theology and biblical theology inform solid application of Gods Word to everyday issues in life. So sad to hear so much ignorance touted as "wisdom" from Lecrae.

I think the problem is the DEFINITION of DECONSTRUCTION. I have seen so many Christians (including LeCrae) have different definitions which has led to confusion to others. Many have claimed to deconstruct which is really decolonize, while others seem have to have fallen completely away which is referred to as demolition. Church hurt is real for some, and being disconnected in fellowships can be a struggle for others. However, we are to press on to not forsake the fellowship. (I do understand folk who take breaks, but our prayer is that they come back) Overall, LeCrae resonates with so many because the message is real for so many. While I love LeCrae and pray for the brother, I am glad that God has brought him back towards the Cross.

Lecrae’s video showed up on the feed under this video and I noticed it is 52 minutes and 52 seconds (52:52). I pull up strongs concordance and type 52. It references the Greek word “agnoia” a form of “agnoeo” which means “to be ignorant”…interesting.

I dont think lecrea is some perfect person, he is a sinner trying to follow Jesus and he fell away from Jesus for a while like a lot of people do, but God pulled him back. I dont think everything he said is 100 percent correct, but he is trying to be honest and vulnerable and sharing an experience and your judging him like he is a peacher giving a sermon. You talked about how the mega church is not the norm, but its what he experience and just becausrme a church has 100 people doesnt mean the doctrine is total sound and at the same time some large churches teach pretty sound doctrine. I really feel like you are taking a lot of things he said out of context. Lecrae never said the early Christians didnt have worship service like u claim he did. He just said it doesnt look like most modern churchs today. I dont understand why we act like Christian artists aren't people that are sinners and make mistakes like we all do. I thing he is doing something that is really hard by coming out clean about his struggles and hardships. I think what you do with this channel is Good but i feel like you could have more grace with this and try to really understand what he is actually saying.

The bible called us to fellowship not for go meeting together. We need to submit to our leaders who submit to the Godhead. Iron sharpens iron, only when we meet together. It cannot do that if when we do not see and fully know those we work with.

Even though i disagree with nearly everything he's said or saying here, i also don't believe going to church is necessary. I've learned more outside of a church than I've ever thought of inside one. And I've been around a lot of churches. I just don't feel like I'm being fed in the churches I've been in. I always leave feeling like i need more and unsatisfied. I think churches can be and typically are great but we also see how many people are being led away in "churches" too. I would love to find a church to fellowship in but i guess I'm having a hard time finding.

Forsake not the coming together of the brethren, however, what does that look like? I prefer the model of the persecuted Chinese church. My less than 100 person church still said the money stuff, still had clicks, and still were only Sunday community. I agree that it's with pastors and deacons, but let's not stop there, we need the 5 fold ministry for the maturing of the saints. I also believe that I can accept discipline on the stage or at the grocery store from an elder.

Everyone have there own walk . The topic on the church. I do agree on crae that church is a community more than an institution but I won’t allow church hurt to stop me from finding a church because I’m currently not attending church or because of church hurt , still trying to find the right one. but I’m following a church on RU-vid and television. You don’t have to go to church to be on fire for God but church is is for fellowship and community with the Body of Christ.I hate the word deconstruct. His takes on church feel very shallow. It seems that he’s biased to one side of the issue and hasn’t looked up what church fathers and theologians have said about the way we do church services today and in the past. My church had a whole class on this before we joined and it was very helpful to know why they do certain things according to scripture. We need more of that in churches. And less listening to people who haven’t researched this.

Man my bro lecrae having his own theology on the church is very dangerous my bro wrong perspective on his views and leading all those who are with him down a wrong path pretty much his own gospel.

Community groups developed necessarily to a changing societal construct. There’s no way to “live” communally with ppl in the church in the way he seems to demand. People are spread out geographically and simply cannot help it. Doesn’t stop members from my church to come way out in the country in my town and bring my wife and I meals for two weeks straight while we’re taking care of our first newborn. It also doesn’t stop them texting us all the whole for prayers and assistance either. There’s nothing wrong with this type of contextual connection within the church and the community groups do indeed help to facilitate that. There’s no perfect parallel from 1st century church adherence to our own. He might as well have a problem eating “crackers” for the Lord’s supper or getting baptized in a manufactured “baptistery,” because Scripture wasn’t talking about that either.

When you meet ppl like this you stick to the Bible. Any time they start trying to make their own scripture you know what’s up.

You made some great points. But the one thing i keep saying and asking, he keeps bringing up Trevon Martin & Michael Brown. Trevon was killed by a hispanic guy, noy a white guy. We know who pushed the lie about this being a white and black race issue, but he still defaults back to that. But then the whole Michael Brown thing is the biggest thing. Under a "black" president, and investigated by a "black" attorney General. It was proven who the agressor was. But he still choose to side with a lie and remain prideful on this issue to this day. He talks a good one about justice, but at the same time taking part in a lie. You would think he would repent and man up and say "man, i have gotten this wrong and been lead astray by my emotions". But when people was calling him out back then "i was one of them", he wants to call it as hate or something. But we seen what was taking place and no christian should be apart of that. I prefere biblical justice everytime and not emotional worldly justice.

There are some churches, both big and small that I would not attend and have left. Some small churches behave like cults, mega churches are largely theatrical. I’ve seen unbiblical teaching in both. It’s definitely not cut and dry.

Biblically...if we put our faith and trust in the teachers and the "organization"... it CAN lead to those that claim to do all kinds of things and even putting His Name to it...and Jesus tells these folks that followed a protocol...that they were workers of iniquity and that they never knew Him. If your sins aren't forgiven...then you aren't "holy" and without sin. Jesus died for the sins of the world...(not just a select "chosen few" that despite Jesus suffering for the sins of the world AND God SO loved the world...that He tells them the truth and offers a way to a right relationship with Him and it wasn't based on a manmade system... We are told to preach the Gospel in and out of season to the ends of the earth...and we are also told to not be concerned whether someone "hates them" as the Truth is offensive to those that are not on that side of Truth... Theology by itself CAN be the same thing that can lead to all the various different denominations that see God differently than the Holy Spirit is teaching (Scripture states that the Holy Spirit guides us in all truth) AND Scripture also claims that God is not the Author of confusion.... Rewind to the tower of Babel and these folks were all on the same page with eachother (like-mindedness) yet in opposition to what God desired (commanded) the remnant from the flood.... How many denominations are there? While Jesus prayed for His disciples to be with Him as He is with the Father..(in the vein of Not My will (as a son or in flesh....but instead submitting to the Father in all things....) God won't tell us to do something He can't model and DO Himself. We are told to die to the flesh...(old nature) as Jesus was transformed and given a body built in glory (as we are promised as well as born again believers).. We are still in a Spiritual War and God states His people die due to lack of wisdom... He is not slack...but patient not desiring that ANY PERISH...but that all would repent. This isn't forced. And not some hidden behind the scenes hunt for who the "chosen" are... We are either gonna be gathering with....or scattering. Let's not forget about context ...cuz there is an enemy that has his con text. He is subtle. The knowlege and wisdom come from being sanctified. How does that happen? (Not by religious rape)... The HOLY SPIRIT convicts the sinner (of which we were all in that camp of "fallen short of God's glory".. all those people that claim to not give pearls to swine forget we were all swine... Don't let grace be used as a license to sin. We are in a season of grace... see, son? Anyways... before the Holy Spirit comforts us and guides us with our walk with Jesus... it IS up to the people in how we respond to this loving conviction of our relationship issues with sin....IF we choose to agree with God on this matter... HE will hold up His end of the deal... AS He won't leave us...nor forsake us....but so often in the churches I've been to...they claim the folks in building are already saved and they hardly talk about sin...except for "outside their camp". Bible also states that if we say we have no sin...we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.... We have limited access to the things of the heart of man and God sees the inner politician trying to walk a fine line between loving Jesus and loving the world's system... God's Only Son Permits Eternal Life! 😇🙏💪 We are being sifted and tested...are we gonna be found standing and continue to stand? OR are we gonna claim some worldy "truths" as for "our identity". A real relationship requires both parties involved. Jesus IS The Alpha and Omega. He IS the firm foundation. Church buildings full of people can be more concerned about running the church like a business and instead of being a Good Shepherd...they are in it for the money...and they end feeding their flock...goat food... cuz they'll eat anything set before them... We should all be on the same page with Jesus...and know our Bible... Help us Lord Jesus! Help us to be who You are desiring us to be...and not what we "see ourselves as".. leaning on our own understanding.... The Holy Spirit will never hang up the task of convicting us of sin (even after repentance) Cuz the old nature wants to rule and reign in the vessel it once did before Jesus paid off the debt we owe in full....
