First video of the year! Often forgotten as arguably the best to never win a major. His mid-short iron accuracy from 2007-2012 was incredible

He just can't keep up with the driving distance of the young guns. He tried a much more aggresive swing this week at wentworth, but only managed 295yards with 50% fairways, which compared to his competition is quite underwhelming.

This is a great video. Luke took the loss at Merion hard in 2013. He should have continued to play as he had before instead of changing his swing. Extreme swing changes is a common thread among derailed careers. Gary Player has said Tiger Woods would have won 20 majors if he hadn't allowed various swing gurus into his head, and I agree.

Players peak at different ages. Luke has had an awesome career. He's now 44, so most players are past there prime at that age. Luke was really smart how he branded himself when he became number 1. He can play in tournaments, hangout with his family and enjoy his life. He can get his game in shape for the Champions tour, and do well out there. Lets keep this all in perspective, Luke was the best in the world at what he did. How many people can say that?

I believe you are 100% right about the huge mistake it is for top end players wanting to change their natural swing when they are at their best. A trend I first saw coming with Tiger Woods, when he went from Butch Harmon to Hank Haney, and he was never quite the same again, and something I’m afraid Rory McIlroy might be doing now (and specially in Rorys case I truly hope I’m wrong).

Good vid - well done. Luke is in Bermuda now - made the cut but 6 or 7 back. I don't see Luke's "slide" as a self-inflicted tragedy, though. He had some bad breaks and the path he chose to recovery was not necessarily the best option available. We all do it and eventually learn that you have to swing with the one who brung ya.

Luke Donald should be in the conversation for best player without a major, but he isn't because he never really had any near misses. My memories of him are putting together phenomenal final rounds when he was just too far behind.

Not sure where you get your “facts” from but the reason Luke’s dropped down the world rankings is simply because he was not hitting the ball far enough to be competitive any more. No matter how many swing changes he made Luke was never going to add those extra yards he needed. Short hitters no longer has a place in modern golf….period
