I was once told that I would not nor ever achieve anything. I am now a self made man in the winter of my years. Ignoring what others say or think matters not so long as your content with yourself and direction of life. Being severely disabled I got my dream bike, tent, lightweight kit. To this day I go wherever it takes me, disabilities in hand, meds on tap, an ride, camp, video, photograph my journey for a good book soon. My bucket list nearing completion except for a few. However, a 12 week trip around europe will be my biggest challenge yet, I will not be defeated and looking forward to 2025. So, love your spirit, tenacity and courage.

I totally love the sentiments of this video. For years I wasn't interested in motorcycling because everyone I knew who had a bike was just obsessed with bikes, it was all about figures and stats and speed and how great their bike was, a yawnfest for me, I just didn't get it. Then I read a book by someone I respected who took off on a motorcycle journey and it changed my perspective - it wasn't about the bike, it was all about the adventure, the method, not the madness. Then a penny dropped and for the first time ever I became interested in motorcycling. It took a couple of decades but I finally took my test and got a bike, and still I'm not that fussed on bikes, per se, but it is such a good way to see the world and a great way to travel. So, thank you for putting that out there.

Years ago I read a book called “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance” whilst riding from Spain to the UK. The point was to focus on what you’re doing, not on what the problem is stopping you from achieving. Please keep going, your enthusiasm is infectious!

Wow, (tear to my eye moment) you have nailed what biking is about saffy. It took my best touring mate to have a near fatal bike accident end of 2021 on his ZZR1400, losing the use of his left leg, then him buying a vespa 300gts scooter as could only sit on a step-through, me then buying a maxi scooter in sympathy so we can still ride out together for us both to realise its not about the horse power, its about being out there riding through stunning scenery with your best mate. He is still pretty beat up and we had a norway tour booked end of may 2022 prior to his accident and we are now going on the scooters. It will be a struggle, he has metal in most parts of his body, but it is his Everest and we will make the 3000 mile journey somehow. Thankyou for this and i will remember your words. (The Ducati is still in the shed for the occassional sunday blast!)

Nice! I’m a big believer in buying a vehicle and truly owning it. I never plan to sell or swap it in and I find it odd when people do. I’ve even contemplated buying a second bike (with imaginary money) but I’ve never considered selling my first bike, I still have lots to learn on it so what’s the rush. Plenty of small mods can make any bike fit for purpose.

Love all the mods you've done. You will sooo appreciate the hard luggage and being able to leave your stuff safely locked on the bike. One thing to note, is that with it fully loaded you might feel the front end a little light so you might get help to adjust your rear suspension a tiny bit to cope with the extra weight. I'm sure one of your followers could advise on how to do it, if you don't already know.

Great spirit of adventure. Ride the bike you have to the fullest. I've seen friends do sketchy stuff off-roading sports bikes. The only limitation usually is in your mind ("the bike is not made for this; "I don't want to scratch the bike;" etc.). Getting a Supermoto also changed my perspective of what bikes can/can't do on street tires. I may go slow on gravel/dirt on my street bike but I know that it can handle some scenarios whereas I used to avoid certain routes completely missing out on that part of the adventure. Don't sell the SV, you'll miss it! Thx for sharing your riding adventures.

I like your approach to adventure and biking. ❤ you can tour the world on a Honda c90 you don’t need a bmw 1200GS or something expensive to travel and have fun on Saffy. It’s the adventure of travelling on two wheels 🎉

Well you did it all by yourself, great job. That is a good way to learn and get to know your bike. The bike looks good! 👍🏻🏆 And you have a great laugh and it is contagious. 🤣

Really great video. I hate DIY (because I'm rubbish at it) and I've been biking for too many years to remember. I love your honesty and the new upgrades looks fantastic. Please please ride safe out there. Cheers.

All who ride , and work on their own bikes have made a few mistakes along the way . rounding off or snapping old , and new fasteners . usually because ya use the wrong tool . breaking old , and new parts . buying the wrong part . buying parts you do not need . putting parts back on in the wrong order . forgetting to adjust suspension . not allowing proper clearance of new parts . plus misjudging paint colors , god that pink is bright . ride safe , and enjoy . I just subscribed - love your content . that is a good battery , plus always read the instructions , that always bites me in the ass !

All that really matters is, when you're riding, that you have a smile on your face that makes you look a little crazy and a little goofy. So people you twist the throttle by don't know whether to laugh, be worried, or enjoy the fact that you're emitting pure happiness. Ride what gives you the most smiles per gallon

Hahaha, I break stuff too, and I don't learn until the 100th time doing a job! I've spent full nights on jobs gone wrong. It's usually stupid little mistakes that make your life so much harder than it needs to be!

I picked up a brand new '06 SV650S years ago, after having grown up riding off-road. Based on the video's, yours looks like a later naked. Cracking little bike capable of absolutely everything and will hit 140mph on a track without worrying about it (your arms would know about it on the naked though!). I took my S off-road through fords more times than I can remember, and sold it on to be a race bike after 3 years & 75k miles. My SV taught me how to throw a spanner at bikes, and I now ride an ST1300. Keep doing what you're doing! Lovely seeing someone else ride for the sake of riding, and modify their bike to reflect their personality :) PS. That tin can lunch box is awful, I live in Wales, and my SV had a scorpion exhaust with a removable baffle. The ST currently has delkevic headers with stock mufflers. Welsh police used to be really aggressive towards bikers, but things calmed down quite a lot years ago. But of course, you do you. :)

Yes! Absolutely 💯 agree. And love that you're bonding with your machine. I have a 24 year old zx6r that was effectively free to me. Its satin black as its been on its side (a couple of times) with 62,000 kilometres on the clock and it does everything. Its my transport, my hobby, and my ... my old girl. And I love her. I could get another "fancier" bike, but like you it's about the biking, not the bike. The adventure and not the machine. And its ok to swear when you smash your fingers in your panniers.... really it is! Love to see someone getting stuck in and working on their bike for themselves. Best way to learn! Well done that girl!

Your so right, you don’t have to have the newest or most fancy bikes to enjoy riding. And I think your first big bike is always a special one. Teapot one rode around the uk on a 125! Thanks for another great video 😊

Damn girl, you had my eyes tearing up. I know the feeling of loving what you ride. After almost two decades of researching happiness, and after reading study after study about the subject, I and other have come to the conclusion that genuinely happy people have one thing in common, that is that they are very grateful. Some of the happiest people studied, were extremely poor, yet they were happy. Happiness is not about money or other material possessions, but about enjoying what we have and being in the moment. The past is gone and can’t be changed, the future is not here and may never get here, all we have is this moment. We must leen to enjoy the now, enjoy the presence of those in front of us, the things we have when we have them, and always always always acknowledge the little things in life. Most people look forward from one big moment in their lives to the next. When they buy a new bike, when they start a new relationship, when they graduate college, when they get married, when they have kids, , when they buy their new home, and on and on. But life is not full of big moments, they are full of tons of “tiny big moments” (as I call them). The time we spend we a loved one sitting and chitchatting and drinking a cup of tea or coffee with a loved one. When someone gives you a hug, cooks for you, tells you they love you, and so many other little moments that males life happen. I like to say that those little big moments are the glue that holds our lives together. Sadly, most take those routine little moments for granted. I’ve lost my dad, my mom, and oldest sister. I would give anything to have even a few more minutes with them. To sit down and have lunch with them, hug them, kiss them, chitchat about life, and laugh together. If there is an afterlife, may be then I’ll be able to do all that. Enjoying life’s small moments, you know, those moments we take for grated, and being grateful for those moments is the key to happiness. That’s right, those people and moments we take for granted, the mundane things that happen everyday in our lives, are the key to happiness. Crazy, un? I think that you are well on your way to accomplish that and live your life that way. You have a spark and a silliness (compliment) in you that I hope you never let anyone take away from you. Here is an idea that I believe will suite you well. Have you ever heard of 360 Project? Look it up, go to www 365grateful com.

You are not alone: all my attempts at customisation are beset by immovable bolts, rounded screws, missing parts, unintelligible instructions (invariably translated from the original Serbo-croat via Swahili, accompanied by illegible diagrams) and collateral damage. If I have learned anything, apart from greater fluency with bad language, it is to know your limitations and keep within them. But for all the angst and frustration the end result is always immensely satisfying. Well done you for making your bike truly yours and for valuing the ride above the machine and the journey above the destination.
