Such a shame they stopped airing these in like 2014. These always got me into the Halloween spirit. Without them, October just feels like a regular month. They also stopped airing the little square pumpkin. Even the Christmas specials stopped airing like Grandma Got Runover by a reindeer. All CN cares about is TTG.
Goddamnit dude. You’re the only guy young enough to review this movie with nostalgia. Go through it and break it down please, everyone else that’s reviewed it has no sentimental attachment to it.
I've been saying this for the longest time! They stopped broadcasting it in 2013, but I always thought this could've been CN's own 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' if promoted in the correct way. I know the animation isn't the best, but so many kids that I knew growing up actually enjoyed watching this on CN and would prioritize their schedules just to watch it.
This should be call "Quick history of the Scary Godmother series". It was a very informative video but you didn't really answer the question of what actually happened to the Scary Godmother movies...
Lot's of artists, commercial and not, usually have a story they made that usually has A LOT related to themselves, be it physical, personality, or events in their life. Since this series was more of a personal labor of love and family the got really popular, that's probably the reason.
This movie takes me back to when i was a kid. Such memories like this makes me a kid at heart. All of the characters are so lively well deadly at least lol. All of the characters are so cool and my favorite characters would be skully or scary god mother.
I actually have one of the kickstarter dolls. I know some people where frustrated with the project because there where a lot of delays and problems but I was just happy to support an artist that inspired me so deeply as a child. Besides, the doll is gorgeous ^_^ Friendly tip, you dont pronounce the "r' in macabre, its basically "mah-cob". Sorry I'm not judging, everyone struggles with word.
My local comic shop owner recommended this series as a kid since Sirius published one of my favorite series (Aikiko by Mark Crilley). When I found out CN was broadcasting the show, I was so excited! I think Scary Godmother along with Little Gloomy (Disney Adventures) also helped me accept my inner magical goth. Thank you so much for doing this video. I’ve learned so much! It also would be great if you covered what happened to Mainframe since they also worked on ReBoot. It makes me wonder why they got bought out considering they had a number of hits on their own.
Huh. Who knew there was more than just, like, 5 mini stories. I got a book with a few small stories when I was little, and loved it. I like to get it out every Halloween, and is one of my holiday favorites. Thanks for making this video!
I loved these movies when I was little I’m so upset that they stop showing it I always was happy when Halloween was coming and I could watch it now I can’t 😭😭😭
They quit airing because jill got her liscencing back from the animation company. The newest creation to the series is the scary godmother doll that was funded via kickstarter.
I watched this like 1 month and 2 weeks ago. I love how you covered this in good time! I watched it because of Scott McNeil was voicing the bone guy (forgot his name) and he's voiced a lot of characters from other shows made by Mainframe Entertainment back in like 1990s
This was my childhood ✨ every October i would watch Scary godmother either on cartoon Network or i got the movies from the library. I remember first watching this with my brother and falling in love with these movies ✨
i remember seeing this movie on Cartoon Network all the time growing up. Though i didn't really like it at the time. But i appreciate hearing about the story behind it and it makes me appreciate the creator at least. :)
I think the animation is fine. At the time Mainframe was doing groundbreaking stuff with the CGI. Sure compared to today CGI its not as great but its still very solid CGI animation work. This was a very well done video
I did not know there was so much to Scary Godmother. I wasn't young enough to still be watching Cartoon Network when it came out. I only know a little bit about it because one Halloween I rented the book from my library and quite enjoyed it. I was disappointed that was all they had of the series.
omg i literally watched this movie every halloween for as long as i can remember until about 4 years ago. I loved this movie so much and totally forgot about it
I love the comics, especially Ghoul’s Out (boy was that one dark!) but I enjoyed it mostly for the atmosphere, which predates most of its kind of the fairytale remake, save classics like Into the Woods and The Princess Bride. CATFIGHT!!!!!!
oh i remember watching this movie when i was a kid each and every Halloween but i wondered what in the world happened to the movie anyway and considering how far CGI had come i am sure they could do a revamp of the movie with better cgi animation
I missed the movies as well basically if I couldn't go trick or treated I might as well just stay in inside and watch Scary Godmother and hand out candy to the next generation of kids as life goes you probably know what I mean right Negative Legend?
OMG I LOVED CODE LYOKO!!!!! All my friends in middle school were like "Omg you like that?? It's not 'true anime', so we don't watch it" and I was always kinda like .. but it's good show??
I remember the first time I saw this show just being disgusted by the animation, but when I saw it come on the next year I decided to watch it. I ended up loving it and kind of want to watch it every year around Halloween.
A lot of people don't realize how relatable this show is today for zillenials in college. The wondeful annoyed but very welcoming gay skeleton in the closet, the party-planning and nearly perfect but overwhelmed witch, the obnoxious but beloved glut theatre werewolf, the pretty normal parents and their son with a couple allergies, and so on. And they all were college peers (aside from the kid and wife of the vampire dad, who was in college). They were all just trying to have a little Halloween party in a house 3 of them shared, but a kid is being bullied so they help her out and teach her and the other kids to be kinder and more accepting to things that might seem different or scary. Like- they managed to slip a whole pro-lgbt+ narrative to cartoon kids into the show without anyone knowing before Steven Universe and people still miss this! The animation aged terribly but the characters aged like fine wine.
"Mainframe", that reminds me, what happened to Reboot? Were they gonna make a sequel? Or no, just leave it on that cliffhanger forever? I remember that 5 second trailer happened age ago... (seems they made a live action hybrid show, about a series that takes place exclusively inside a computer... whhhy? Is live action hybrids just where good ideas go to suffer a slow death?)
I (kinda) remember Nanovor. I remember it being a thing, & I remember I thought it was really cool. But somehow I don't remember what it actually was lol.
@@devvynoler322 The basic of it was essentially a virtual pet(more like Digimon) but without the care and just combat. Every grain of sand was a Nanovor fossil that would be resurrected by a Nanoscope (the custom made game device). They are brought onto a digital scale and like to fight so they did. On a scren, every fight is to the death but they just regenerate and fight again. That's at least a crude synopsis of the story. There's actually a lot of games from the early 2000's people don't talk about like Extractaurs or Freaky Creature and Nanovor.
Ya that sounds kinda familiar, & explains why I would've though it was cool. Growing up I loved series like Pokemon & Digimon, so Nanovor would've been right up my ally. Hopefully we could get a video on it at some point. I'm really interested in knowing what happened to it.
Wait at 1:11 did you just say ma-ca-ber? That's not how macabre is pronounced. Well shit I just googled it and this whole time I've been saying ma-ca-ab. But turns out it's actually ma-ca-bruh. Not even joking here...well shit I guess we were both wrong. Well played negative legend....well played.
