Knew he was special when Jerry West hand-picked him for the Clippers. He said that his work ethic reminded him of Kobe when he was younger. He held his own in that series against GSW as a rookie. Still miss him on the Clippers.
Just curious, as a Clippers fan, would you unwind the trade that brought PG13 and Kawhi to you in exchange of having SGA and future lottery picks? Do you think West would've been able to put together a contender core if he had 2 more years of lottery to go?
BRO SHAI IS NOT GETTING TRADED HE DROPS OVER 30 REGULARLY AND HES ONLY 24 and under contract for the next 4 years… HE IS THE REBUILD TIMELINE so the ppl saying he doesn’t fit the timeline just want to make content to keep their jobs…
As a Clippers fan, I love PG, but I can't help but wonder if Kawhi had been more patient with the Clippers team that year (ie. Lebron joining the Lakers the first season) what the duo between those two would of been. Shai already shown he could play with a veteran all star with Chris Paul.
SGA told the Cavs not to draft him. So it's hard to say whether or not they would have drafted him otherwise, he definitely had more upside than Sexton.
Right, the only reason SGA is outscoring him at the moment is there’s no one else who can score on the thunder. Switch their places and Trae’s stats instantly go up. He’s scoring less but winning more because he has teammates who can score. Simple as that
Exactly. It's like people just look at Young scoring 27 per game this season and say oh well he is a bust. Dude took role players to the conference finals ! Something SGA couldn't do with all time great player CP3 🤦🏿♂️
@@bennyboo1596 I hear you bro, but with all that said he has never won a play off series...even when playing with CP3. How much weight does efficiency really carry ?
I didn't think Shai would average more than a steady 16&6 (which isn't bad!). He clearly far exceeded my expectations and kudos to those who envisioned that in him when he was traded to okc.
After seeing shai's first 10 games as a clipper i fell in love with his play, bought a year one jersey from him. Unlucky he had to be in the package for PG13, otherwise we might already had a titlte
@@accordingtodrew7302 well yes it will be too long of a video and there are better players than him but he is one of the best players drafted 30 overall currently in the NBA, the bucks drafted him in 2019
Ayton #1 and I don’t want to hear any thing about the guy from overseas Ayton #1 without question! Quote Steven A Smith I got a look at Luka and thought the Kings can finally rebuild with a SuperStar backcourts getting Luka #2 and then they absolutely floored me when they picked Bagley I had and still have flashbacks to the Jordan draft because Bagley will be the Sam Bowie of this generation with basically the cane career path spooky enough.
He really said Trae or SGA… I thought he knew ball. SGA does have higher upside tho but no one would rather have shai outside of the first part of this season.
@@duffal0 shai hasnt been better for 4 years of their careers... he's looked great this season and could end up being better but saying he's better rn is just silly
@@tape4878 it’s not silly though. You’re praising Trae for peaking earlier, which makes no sense. Would you say Lamelo is better than Hali right now? Because Lamelo started off better but right now Hali is the better player.
@@duffal0 I've always thought Hali was better. Also Lamelo hasn't done a fraction of what Trae has achieved in this league. Peaking early is a real thing and I said myself that Shai has more upside due to his physical gifts but one guy is all NBA and the other guy hasn't even been an all-star.
@@tape4878 well context is very important in that case. If Shai was in the East he’d be a 3 time all star by now. Trae had the benefit of joining a team ready to compete by year 2, so they made moves for win now pieces early on. Shai easily could’ve made the playoffs the last 2 seasons (don’t forget Trae and Shai both have 2 playoff appearances) if OKC decided to trade all their picks to build for now. But OKC clearly is building for the future.
me personally being a huge sga fan i love his game he plays like he owns the court but as of this moment im taking trae young just because we have seen what hes capable of doing in the playoffs. shae made the playoffs two times and not as the number one option either times and got eliminated in the first round. although theres an argument for sga im taking trae young number 1
@@Airuz1 AHAHAHA yeah that was a typo everyone knows that marvin bagly is number 1 brother (okay jokes aside tho luka goes first in almost every draft so no)
I’m an Authentic OKC Fan and I Thank The Los Angeles Clippers Organization for giving us their future 😂😂😂Classic Ass Los Angeles. Los Angeles Sports and their fans are Bratz
tbh I would rather have SGA he's a bigger point guard who can defend and would just fit with more players with Trae you would need to get a defensive SG to even make it work
@@chiyuni9252 Shai has been in the playoffs the same amount of seasons as he’s missed them lol. You don’t have to watch the Thunder, but in the words of JJ Redick, “If you’re not watching OKC when Shai plays, you’re missing a fucking show”…
@@duffal0 bro I am not saying Shai is not legendary, I just refuse to compare him to Trae. If there is a stat that speaks volumes for me it's this one : Shai averages 15.1 ppg in the play offs while Young Averages 25.6 ppg.
Looking back at this draft is insane. Luka Trae and Shai 3 mvp candidates and none of them went first. Also Shai is amazing but let’s not act like he would go second overall over Trae
Huh? Do you watch him play? He’s better in almost every way compared with Trae. He shoots over 10% better from 3 (albeit on less attempts)… the only thing Trae is really better at is playmaking. You’re wild if you take Trae over Shai
@Lman34 they’re both superstar players, just speaks to the quality of this draft. But Shai’s assists are severely deflated. He’s playing with the worst spacing in the NBA. Give him competent three point shooters and his assists are top 5 on the NBA. His potential assists put him as one of the top playmakers in the league. The gap between their playmaking is much smaller than the gap between their defense and inside game. Shai has no true weakness. Trae is great, but he has alot nfl weaknesses you have to find ways to cover up.
@Lman34 his potential assist makes puts him as on of the top playmakers in the league 😒😒. You shai fanboys make up anything it's sad. You right trae has a weakness of carrying a mediocre team to the playoffs, while shai gets every excuse on why he can't make the playoffs 🤡🤡
@@jamesmonge7582 firstly that team with CP3 on it was not garbage. That team was no were near what Trae has ever played with. Secondly in his sophomore year Trae Young basically carried that team to the c. Finals. If anyone says they had a CP3 caliber player on that team would be lying. The fact that Young has averaged 25.6 points in the play offs vs 15.1 points from Shai really is the icing on the cake. I don't even know how someone would rank Shai as being better...what has he done ? Please educate me
& who made the trade for SGA? West. I think LAC made a mistake tho with going superstar route. They could've had SGA, then drafted MPJ, not Robinson. Imagine a SGA & MPJ duo?
People talking about Shai not being able to make his team better don't know anything. Just look at his team, it's not a functioning team, which was done purposefully by the front office. Rotations are random every game with little to no spacing and yet he's that efficient.
Love Shai but can’t be better than Tre until he makes his team better! Great stats but team in the bottom of the league and top of the draft since he’s been best player on the team. Hawks were trash before Tre he’s gotten them to the eastern conference finals.
Wow didn't realize the Hornets traded him for Miles, I guess that was a good trade up until this year where Shai has improved drastically and the less said about Miles the better
This season Shai been much better than trae but I wouldn’t put him over trae in general. Trae has put up better stats then this current season and Shai is having an incredibly good season so far but that’s only been for 20 games. It’s possible trae will pick up and Shai will drop off but we just gotta wait and see. I think in general I’d pick trae over Shai but if Shai puts up his current numbers for the rest of the season, ofc I’ll take him.
