Zeller actually got drafted because of his athleticism, idk where you got that he was "unathletic". He had a Top 5 vert in his class and had the highest vert for a big man in the previous decade. Also had agility and speed.
@@renzocabarco472 yeah. He just didn't have the skill set of a Top 5 pick as a big. Wasn't a dominant scorer or rim protector and went to a team that pretty much needed him to be dominant lol.
Sad to say he's done... His injuries were far too significant. His athleticism was the biggest part of his game. His ability to blow by defenders and create space. He's still very crafty, but he can't create his own shot the way he used to be able to, without having a defender hanging all over him. The dude was legit on his way to superstardom. I remember watching the first round series Cavs/Pacers in 2018. Oladipo looked like a top 5 player in the league. And his transformation from the prior season to that current season was insane. He was a clear cut number 1 option and there was no question. So it's sad to see. Really is.
it's always interesting looking back at drafts and wondering if some players didn't live up to their potential because of their own limitations or the team/coaches failing to actualize it. I'm not sure Giannis develops the way he has in any other environment.
As a bucs fan, I obviously remember this as the best draft we've had since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. However, at the time I was fucking pissed because I had just got off watching Alex Lynn at Maryland and I was super mad that the bucks didn't have a chance to draft him because I thought he was going to be the next great center. Oh God how much I love how wrong I was
That's actually not a bad take considering Giannis was meh as a rookie. But idk if he would have been the player he is now if he was standing in LeBron and Kyrie's shadows.
@@guesswhonot1620 yeah giannis is the player he is now because pf how the bucks helped him develop and his own hard work the cavs aren’t helping anybody
Giannis was never THAT skinny. A well-proportioned frame. Pretty much what most players look like at 18 years old. And he STILL is not at all heavy. IN SHAPE, yes, but that is something of an optical illusion that ALL body builders are aware of. They might drop as much as 30 lbs. in the weeks before a contest, and look BIGGER. I doubt if he is any more than 30 lbs heavier now than when he came into the league.
usually if oyu are drafting top 5, you are 2 or 3 players away from solid playoff contenders. why these guys wouldnt take a shot on giannis is a shock to me. i think Chet Holmgren will have a similar career path to Giannis, maybe more assist oriented though.
I like video, but I would like to write the name of the players and their stats on screen, since you speak pretty fast and it's quite easy to lose track. All the best.
Not sure if you've already covered it but i definitely would love to see the video about players selected before Jokic? This would be like...an hour long right? 🤣
Shaq once said that Giannis is himself in the modern NBA... That dipper dunk that he executes so well tells me that Giannis is more like Wilt in the Modern NBA... and that is scarier than you think, since Milwaukee had Kareem, who played against Wilt early in his career... No, Milwaukee just went and made a modern day WILT
A better story would be the 1986 draft which at the time was considered by experts to not only be the deepest draft class in years based on the amount of NBA level players available but also had like 45 or some odd players selected ahead of Dennis Rodman......tell me what the hell happened to those 40 some odd players who all were deemed more valuable than Rodman was in his career to his teams....outside of all star Center Brad Daugherty who went 1st overall.....I would say most of the players picked before Rodman never had close to the career success on a basketball court as Rodman
Bro… like what happened to athletes this year… wasn’t 2013 the ej manual led draft for the nfl. Like at least you got 3 above average players at least in the top 15… 😂
bro timberwolves are stupid i still wonder why i root for them we passed on curry TWICE and passed on giannis and also traded now a nba champ and a great player andrew wiggens and we traded half of our team for rudy gobert also keep jimmy unhappy trading him also trading kevin love and cant forget zach lavine
Fyi to the maker of the video. Great video overall. Gianni or Yianni considers himself Greek he speaks Greek fluently and speaks English with a Greek accent. His parents were immigrants he was born in Athens Greece.
