What were NFL teams thinking? Letting Christian McCaffrey fall to pick 8. Thank you for watching The Halftime Show! If you like this video, it would help us greatly if you smash the like and subscribe button!
You can never have enough great running backs. Imagine a backfield with Derrick Henry and Mccaffrey running ball with Brown catching it. Tannehill can only throw for 2k yards and the Titans would still win a lot of games.
Some were based on need - the titans had Henry and didn’t need a RB. Can’t fault Garrett at 1. Looking back, Mahomes and Garrett you can say should have been ahead of CMC. You can argue coming out of college Leonard wasn’t a bad pick… the injuries really shortened his career and effectiveness. To be fair, in Carolina, CMC had trouble staying healthy too. But, since the move to the bay, he has stayed mostly injury-free.
67 receptions with 0 drops this past season. And his blocking grades out as exceptional. Nothing he can't do. Made $11.3 this year and next is the final year of his deal. Pending health and close to similar production Niners are going to have to up that. Sizably. He's a weapon on offense; at 28 years old I wouldn't let him test the market.
I thought the same thing. Teams don’t take the best player on the board given how your the draft they are and the team didn’t want to trade down too far and miss out on a player they needed.
CMC is Jeep Track Hawk. A super car implies speed with zero utility which is incorrect. CMC is such a special talent because he is easily the best outside, inside, receiving, and blocking back in the NFL which is completely unheard of
Kinda glad my Jags didn’t get him. Probably would’ve had a solid rookie year like Fournette did, but the team blew up after that. They would’ve ruined him.
The Cowboys back in the 70's would always draft the best player available, regardless of position. If they had a good RB but a better one was available, they would take the RB. The one time they did not do that was when they Passed on Joe Montana because they had Danny White. Now teams try to fill a need instead of taking the best player. McCaffrey was undersized for RB and Fourntette looked like the next sure thing RB.
He would’ve went no later than 5th. Mahomes T.J Watt Myles Garrett Watson yes I would’ve took Watson over him. Before Watson decided he needed a happy ending massage he was legit a top QB in the league. Watt and Garrett that’s a pick ‘em pick can’t go wrong depends if u want a DE or Edge Linebacker depending the teams system. Cmac 5th overall.
@@jordankerr1 Yes because Watson also plays defense I didn’t know that. He definitely wasn’t miles ahead of him. Before what happened to him went down Watson was considered to be a top QB in the league especially his final year in Houston unfortunately the overall team was horrible.Never said he was better than Mahomes but definitely not miles away from him. Currently he’s miles away from Mahomes but back that hell no.
Surely those people have carried their teams to a super bowl then? Right?… Mahomes the only one who goes over him. And even then this year CMC has a bigger MVP case over Mahomes does
@@michaelfishe3963 T.J Watt 6 time pro bowler defensive player of the year 4 time first team all pro. Garrett 5x pro bowlers 3 time first team all pro 2 time 2nd team all pro. If we’re comparing overall body of work both of those players had an overall more of an impact. Your superbowl point makes zero sense because CMC didn’t win a superbowl himself. Even this year Watt has 19 sacks yet again and Garrett was dominating throughout the season.
@@shaheemtaylor960 They both got nothing to show for it. They gon be the Karl Malone’s and Charles Barkley of sports. Yo ass better win something if your gonna be considered the best. McCaffery is by far the best player on the niners team single handedly creates victories half the time. And should be MVP this year but the NFL is gonna push the narrative it should be Lamar
First round always a roll of the die. 1&2 get superstar & HOF candidate. 3&4 a gr8 talent but has injury “bug” or ruined by bad coaching. 5&6 a reach, ruined by coaching or just hasn’t got what it takes. Watson and especially Mahomes (falling to Andy QB Whisperer Reid) should be glad CHI did in hindsight the “what were the Bears thinking” move.
The draft is broken. No one understands what makes a standout player. An entire new league could probably be formed out of the talent squandered by this so-called "system." Brock Purdy, Kurt Warner and your entire "What Happened to" series both highlight and underscore that fact.
CMC CMC CMC CMC CMC he'll win a Super Bowl Championship on Sunday February 11th Christian McCaffrey is quite simply put best running back in the NFL 1st Round 8th overall in 2017 NFL's Draft by the Carolina Panthers now with San Francisco 9:19
Correct! He got released. Largely believed to be a locker room cancer, and if memory serves, lazy. He had a great end of the year to help Tampa in the playoff run to win the superbowl. Then came back to camp well over his playing weight, and perhaps proved the Jags right.
He wants to be legendary, not a person that fills a slot. You can tell by the way he runs into people head on and gives 100% every play. He is legendary.
Panthers Fan: McCaffrey had a 1000/1000 season sure but excluding that year and the current 2023 year he has been very injured hints the reason he was put up for trade. It's not surprising he is a stud this year but having him on th team has not been fun. Trust me.
Great show! Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. God bless! Jesus is the way and saves! Psalms 62✝🤍
If you really look at McCaffrey and include his pass catching ability with his running ability, he is the better choice. Mahomes has been great but other quarterbacks have had great seasons and just haven't won the Super Bowl. It seems like getting a RB that is as capable as McCaffrey is harder to acquire than a QB that can put up Mahomes" same stats. It's a tough call.
What? Absolutely no competent GM would ever take McCaffrey over Mahomes. A QB is THE most important position on the field and without a good one you aren't going anywhere in the postseason. RB's have short, inconsistent, and usually injury ridden careers, are easily replaceable, and don't contribute even close to the amount of success to their teams as the best QB's do. A good QB is more important to a team than the best RB in the league, especially the best QB in the NFL.
@@afk2916 Yep, what you said is correct. It sounded like they asked about a comparison between the players regarding where they were drafted. What I'm saying is that it's a bit easier to find another QB that can put up similar (maybe better) numbers than Mahomes, compared to another RB that can do everything that McCaffrey can do. A quarterback is almost always going to last longer and mean more to a team, as long as they're good. That's why I said it's a tough call when asked about evaluating where these two players were picked compared to each other. Imagine if McCaffrey was drafted by a team that was ready to win from day one? What if McCaffrey had been on the Chiefs with Mahomes since they both were drafted? That would be a crazy good team.
