I Had A Wonka Bar, And The Chocolate Peanut Candy, Like M&M's Peanuts, When We Went To See Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory Back In 1971, Because They Were For Sale Inside The Theatre At The Concessions Stand . . . :-) I Never Had Any Of Those Candies Again . . . ;-o
ThePopcast, can I tell you something? I hate to disappoint you and Willy Wonka, but I never had a Wonka Bar or a 2005 Wonka Bar in years. My favorite candy are the Wonka Magic Hat gummies.
I tasted both the Original Nestle version of the Wonka Bar and the Exceptionals when I was a kid, (the latter was a bribe from my mother for learning how to tie my shoes). When they disappeared from the store shelves, my mother actually wrote a letter to Nestle and got a response confirming the discontinuation. I still miss Wonka bars to this day, and I wonder why they couldn't bring them back to promote the new movie (Don't get me wrong, the gummies are delicious, but they missed out on the potential of the return of actual Wonka chocolates.)
When Charlie & the Chocolate Factory came out on DVD, I remember Blockbuster & Hollywood video had boxes of bars on their counters at the checkout to buy. I bought a few over the weeks until they ran out. They were well, pretty good chocolate bars!
I worked for Concorde Confections in St. Louis in 1971 thru 1973 when they were making the Willy Wonka’s Super Skrunch, Oompa Loompa’s and Scrumdidilyumptious candy. My first name being Wally, I was quickly given the name Wally Wonka. 😊
When I was a kid I always loved going once a week to Walmart, seeing the signs to win a golden ticket and getting the chocolate waterfall Wonka exceptionals, never won a golden ticket but it was always so special being able to be a big fan of Wonka, and being able to have a real life Wonka bar.
I had a Wonka variant in the days of Nestle and it tasted like well, what you'd expect a Nestle chocolate bar to taste like. I do regret I never got to have a bar in the days of Quaker Oats, and we never will.
When I was a kid every time I would go into Toys R Us I would get a Wonka bar it was so exciting and it was the only place I knew that sold them they were so good. I would have bought it if they brought it back for the movie release. Even if it wasn't as good. I think that would have sold better than gummy hats.
Bro thanks so much for making it clear. I’ve been on a internet man hunt for these things, at least I know there’s no point since there no longer made, for now at least
how did Wonka bars lose to a Hershey's bar? I remember I would go to summer camp every year, and carry a Wonka bar in my backpack. I miss this e days :(
Theres a petition online to bring back the Wonka bar. The problem is that they think ferrero chocolate owns the name not ferrara candy. Yikes.(*edit*) ferrero own ferrara.
Thank you that was very entertaining and informational. I had no idea about role dolls tragedies. I feel sorry for him now I love the Gene Wilder version. I can’t wait to see your Wonka version but I’m sorry I just don’t like Johnny Depp version. I did have a Waka bar I tried the peanut butter kind and the toffee kind, they were both Wonka bars and I thought they were delicious. I thought they came out at Christmas time. I’m sad to see they’re gone. Thank you for the fun.
I wish those Wonka Bars which Nestle and Quaker Oats made came back under the Ferrero brand. Especially the flavors from the 1971, 2005, and 2023 films, respectively. Including the Macaron, the Eclair, the Hoverchoc, et al.
Im really not a chocolate person and usually will have a Kit Kat bar every two months or so but if Wonka was actually a main chocolate brand that would change everything for me
Something I noticed but have never seen mentioned. While the US release was called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory some International releases called it Charlie and the Chocolate Factory eg. Charlie und die schokoladenfabrik «Germany» and Charlie og sjokoladefabrikken «Norway»
I’ve had the oompas but it was fruit flavored. I really miss the Wonka brand. I was able to pick up a few bars before they went out of stock. I wish I would’ve known that was the last time I would see them. I would’ve bought the whole box 😮
the wonka themed bars, were actually bitter, as they had little to no actual sugar in them. i prefer things like a Mars bar or a snickers bar or even just a chocolate bar.
To be honest you can buy any chocolate bar and call it a Wonka. Outside of the packaging paper they are all basically the same. The individual brand names are what you are actually paying for. There isn't a need have a Wonka brand on the market. It has already been tried more than once with underwhelming results. The legacy of Wonka is in the movies and books. Releasing a limited edition of Wonka bars to celebrate monumental anniversaries of the films would work better than having a Wonka brand chocolate bar long-term competing in a market that is over saturated with more well-known brands.
I remember getting every wonka bar I could find.... I loved those chocolate delights.... and now I may never taste one again.... boring hershey's it is...
I want a you get nothin Wonka shirt. Because I am still waiting for my Orville shirt that you guys promised me during the live cast. And I have not received it yet 😢
Even if Ferrara did make the wonka, bar it wouldn’t taste like the original because Ferrara changed there coco when they bought nestles candy they changed there coco and now the butterfinger doesn’t taste the same
I was just looking up if there was one 🤣😭and ran into this video after finding out they were discontinued in 2010 or 2014 lmfao not to sure cause it says both years
The fact that it didnt "catch on" until video still doesnt really make sence considering kids of all generations saw it and went bonkers. I mean 75 or 84 its the same movie.
There was a promotional bar for the 2023 premiere not sure what company made it tho ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jaB9HVM22vc.htmlsi=fbHArQ3zGa6RdCu2
I Was Extraordinarily Lucky To Watch The Original Gene Wilder Willy Wonka, And The Chocolate Factory Movie In The Theatre, Back In 1971, As 9 Year Old Child, With My School Class, Which Went To See It, And I Have Enjoyed It Ever Since, And I Have The DVD Here, So That I Can Watch It Whenever I Want To . . . :-) Rest In Peace, Amazingly Funny Actor Gene Wilder . . . Thank You For Your Amazing Body Of Crazy, And Side-Splitting Funny Bone Cinema Movies . . . :-)
When Charlie/Chocolate was released in theaters in 2005, they had a line of Wonka chocolate bars in their display windows and were for sale. I bought 2 of them and they were delicious! So I think I speak for all of us when I say: BRING THE WONKA BARS BACK AGAIN!
I will never forget my Aunt taking all of my cousins and I to Blockbuster purely to get Wonka Bars. They were fantastic. Like a Crunch bar but if Willy Wonka made it
I never ever seen them in stores, i wish they bring them back if only for kids imagination. I gave my son a Wonka party and brought the candy Winka labels and fizzy lifting drinks online, he loved it. I saw all 3 Wonka movies and it never gets old. Yes please bring these scrumptious chocolate bars back to life, who wouldnt want to walk through a chocolate amusement park and buy Wonka products, it be a kids dream!
Chocolate bars are hard to compete in... I tried and loved all the wonka bar varients.. it's hard.. the main world flavors are covered.. Chocolate peanut butter..reeses..orange chocolate.. Britain has that.. lighter chocolate bueno..and just fattier chocolate as cheap as can be..hersheys..what else is there that can be widely consumed and financially realistically put out and desired in mass????
I didn’t get to try a Wonka chocolate Bar. I didn’t get to taste it either. But I really think the Wonka Bars deserve another chance, because they were delicious and popular. Once the Wonka bars come back, I’ll try the them all. Like the original Wonka Bar, the Scrumdidilyumptious fudge mallow bar, the Triple Dazzle Caramel bar, the Nutty Nut Surprise bar and the Chilly Chocolate Cream bar. I never tasted those four 2005 chocolate bars in years ever since they came out.
