Other than TOS Enterprise was my Star Trek show, I loved it from the moment it hit the air and enjoyed it until it's early end. It should have had the seven year run as the other Trek series.
Ratings for DS9 and Voyager were often similar but Voyager actually had more viewership overall, it didn't just rival DS9 but often surpassed it especially in regards to season openers. According to Nielsen ratings. Pilot episode Caretaker beat Emissary by 3 million. Season 2 opening of Voyager was 1 million higher. Season 3 it was DS9 who beat Voyager by a million. Season 4 Voyager beat DS9 by two million. Season 5 DS9 beat Voyager by only small margin Season 6 Voyager beat DS9 by a million. Season 7 Voyager was ahead by 3 million. Finale episode Endgame had almost double the numbers of the finale to DS9. The trend is pretty clear, Voyager beat DS9 in terms of rating, not rivaled. Both shows showed similar trends in rise and decline and did at times fluctuate in the ratings but Voyager was the clear winner. But not saying it was a better show, just got more numbers at the time of they premiered.
Always liked Voyager. Had the action of DS9 but on a ship. Wasn’t a bunch of folks playing classical instruments in their spare time. A ship in basically uncharted space having to navigate different cultures and seeing new worlds for the first time like TOS with a badass no nonsense captain. She was intelligent, cunning, but also empathetic not only to her crew but also to those in need. Also 7of9.
Heh, heh, heh. Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously? Two-Pock, how-ever the fuck you spell it, Kurt, a forgettable one, and a drug user Heath are impactful. We both live in different realities then.
I wasn't a fan of this at all and didn't appreciate it until much later. I wanted to see post Dominion trek so bad it made me resentful of Enterprise. Not my favorite by far but i enjoy it now! Even now I'm definitely not a fan of the opening song.
So heartbreaking to find out how life got for Jennifer Lien, and to hear of the strained relationship between Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan. Having said that, I think it was a 100% Janeway thing to do, by taking full responsibility for that issue, in the way Mulgrew did. This epic series helped me come to terms with my own issues through the character B'Ellana Torres, so thank you so much to The Popcast for making this incredible biographical tribute to Star Trek: Voyager.
As somebody who is a fan of Enterprise its one of my favorite Trek shows, behind TOS these days TNG just looks far too dated to me now days, so DS9 brings up 3rd place. But Babylon 5 is the best scifi show, second is the Expanse. So on that note.. longer stories is what Enterprise should've had from the start. Episodic television had been progressing out and Voyager and DS9's best episodes had been longer parters. So a whole series arc from the start would've been much better as the first season felt like it was finding its feet- which to be fair all scifi series feel more or less, but it felt like "lets throw every writing idea at the wall see's what sticks" For example if the minefield episode had led the first episode to be into almost every other episode running into Romulans and them having to chart out the border of Romulan space in a small way it could've been pulled back later "looks like that border we put is out of date now they're claimed three more systems, and drove off a federation vessel"
Dewdz this 1 of my faav showe yo! My fav episoode was when Sikko an Doxx go baack tyme an meat Kerk yo!!!!11 Thin Kurk makkd on Duxx yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111
I loved Trek all my life but was burnt out by Voyager so I never watched it. After years of hearing how sub par Voyager and Enterprise were, I finally decided to watch them (also because I needed great classic TV better than the new garbage). Both are fantastic. I even read all the re-launch novels for both series. STAR TREK FOREVER!!!!
I never really paid attention to ST until Voyager; usually passing glances as someone else watched. As an adult I finally watched DS9 and loved it as well; and realized that I didn't like it as a kid because I was too young to fully grasp it's situation. Great video.
I guess that I suffered from Star Trek fatigue because I never saw the end of the Enterprise or Voyager. I completely ignored all of the New Trek shows. This RU-vid piece has made me want to go back to see the last two episodes of Star Trek Enterprise. Thank you.
In LatinAmerica there is a common phrase: "NO HAY MAL QUE POR BIEN NO VENGA" (EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING) . And for my money, STAR TREK VOYAGER is a perfect example of this. It was awful for Kate and Jeri, and sure everybody else in the crew, to be inmersed in such an antagonistic dynamic; but if you come to think about it, it was THE BEST THING that happened to that show - a true blessing in disguise. WHY YOU MAY ASK? Because it laid the foundation for an interpersonal dynamic we can all relate to in everday life. One the one hand, Janeway was like a divorced mother: after a number of years still coping and trying to build a new life of her own amid the consequences (economic, personal, loss of friends and perks, etc.) of the separation and no one in sight to partner with, living in let say Tulsa Oklahoma. Seven of Nine, on the other hand, was the bombshell 14 year old daughter who after the divorce had stayed most of the time with dad at the Porsche Tower in Miami, did whatever she wanted and was never told NO... until dad re-married and Seven of Nine had no choice but to go live with mom. Try to imagine yourself in either one´s shoes and chances are you are going to be pretty frustrated and stressed out. Again, you have a mother that wasnt prepared to actually perform as such, and a daughter who just couldn´t understand how to please her. Here is an example probably everybody remembers: Janeway was trying to diplomatically hammer out a deal with the Hyrogen on the wormhole array and Seven of Nine - without blinking an eye - simply electrocutes the poor fella; Janeway goes "WTF" and Seven of Nine says "he was not responding to diplomacy". I wish someday, at any convention where Kate and Jeri are present, somebody presents this proposition and see their reaction. Just a thought.
Voyager is a frustrating show, because while it was good, it could have been great. A lot of the decisions feel too safe, but because of all the things riding on the show, its understandable.
My first Ghostbusters were the characters from the Filmation series with Forest Tucker and Larry Storch; I like the current series of movies because the producers seem to realize that, if you count the first show, and the cartoon series, Ghostbusters has been a spooky, family-friendly, YA property longer than it has been a dark, edgy, effects-driven comedy; I’d love for them to continue that tone; in fact, given the expansion of the lore during Frozen Empire, my dream project would be for them to somehow incorporate the characters from the Filmation shows into the ‘canon’ series, and continue to make fun, family-friendly movies and shows under the Ghost Corps imprint
I watched a lot of Voyager over the years and always had opinions that seemed to differ from other people but pretty much every opinion I had seemed to be backed up by some behind the scenes thing you described in your video (like the weird relationship between Seven and Janeway just not really working). It was good to see a distant retrospective of Voyager appearing to line up with my feelings over the years. This was a nice good bye to a part of my childhood. Thanks.
my favorite voyager is when the 24th centery admit, and a DNA officer created the most advanced more work in the 22nd century seven 0t 9 had to teach him. "one"
My opinions on Star Trek has changed so much through out the years. I've always enjoyed the original O.G... I was raised on it innthe early 80s. And ive always liked Next Generation. Voyager and DeepSpace have always been a uhg. Although i remember Deep Space did have some really good episodes. And after that i stopped caring or onnly seen a few episodes of each one after Voyager. And now, i started watching Voyager and others and i deeply enjoy them. Im not some hardcore fan, but a fan.
Tuvok was my favorite character in all of Star Trek. I feel like he captured the essence of what a Vulcan would truly be like more than any other actor has to this point.
"First Black captain in the franchise." *Captains Terrell, the captain of the Saratoga, Captain Tryla Scott, Captain Silva LaForge, and Captain Kasidy Yates entered the chat to encourage Ben Sisko* "He means First Black series lead, y'all. Give it up!"
The best Star Trek Show!! My favourite ST show, watched it after the birth of my first child. The road trip vibe plus my favourite captain and the best Borg tie in. Really a classic that has aged well, it was a joy after completing TNG.
