Once upon a time, horror put on its best face, LITERALLY, and was the belle of the fanciest ball of them all. And every little girl deserves to go to the Ball. Just how did our beloved little genre shed the judgment of the people to reach the tippy top of the mountain? Let’s find out together just WTF happened to 1991’s THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.

Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

The books really give you a deep understanding of Hannibal's mind. Once you see the world from his point of view he's not really a human monster. He's more of a higher species and we're just his livestock

Jodie Foster was a perfect choice. Clarice is such a great example of a strong female character. She is the epitome of courage. She is willing to be brave even when she's terrified, she's able to hold her own against her superior when he tries to hit on her. She's a great example of a well written, perfectly executed character

Certainly one of the best films ever made. It played a huge role in turning little 11-year-old me into a blossoming film nerd. So artfully crafted, with every piece falling perfectly into place.

Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, despite only being in the movie for roughly 10 minutes.

I have heard this over the years and ironically just watched it like 3 days ago not expecting joblo to do a video on it right afterwards lol but anyway that’s just not true, he’s really in it 25 minutes all together. Idk why they claim it’s so short but if you look at it you can tell it’s way longer than 10

Loved the book and recommended it to anyone. This film is the perfect book to screen adaptation, it added and changed just enough.

I think Ted Levine should have been nominated, but I guess his character was just too scary & disturbing for Academy members. You watch him in this film & he is so freaky, but then you go watch something like Monk, & he is just so likable & funny.

Silence of the Lambs sequels weren't top notch but still had devastating great scenes. My favorite; when the Italian Detective gets lead on Hannibal Lecter, teaching history in Florence he makes fatal mistakes trying catch him. Dr Lecter not only kills him but goes into Detective's family history. And disembowls Detective just like on his Ancestors.

Anthony Hopkins may have only been on screen for 21% of the time but no other actor could have played that role. One of the most memorable characters from any movie.

Although I have watched your channel on and off for ages I've been catching a lot of your videos lately and really been enjoying them. Coincidently I've just started the Audiobook of this and really enjoying the writing so far. Although the interview / interrogation scenes are quite iconic. I can't get the scenes from Loaded weapon 1 out of my head.

I have noticed something with JoBlo Horror releases this last week: the writing style is different. And not in a good way. I love this channel. I watch due to my love of the genre, and to learn about the movies I love and grew up with. But, the quippy, constant, wink-wink style dad jokes are not doing it for me. Frequency is too high, and the quality is too low. Please, PLEASE, let this be a trial and not a new direction. 😢 PS: this episode is not quite as bad... but, still noticeable.

It must be nice when Directors and actors have so much money that when a studio ask them here do you want hundreds of thousands or millions more? And you say no thanks I don’t like the script

One of the rare cases of the movie being better than the book. The only thing I remember about the book is that I found it incredibly boring long-winded.

Great movie. JoBlo - this was one of your worst WTF presentations. Not sure if it was the poor sound mixing drowning out dialogue when it was spoken, or the narrators cadence and delivery but this was just amateur. Usually you guys have great vids but this one definitely falls short.

I have noticed a change in writing style in the last 3 or 4 videos from this channel. It is as if they are trying too hard to be witty, quippy jokesters. It is annoying and not a good direction, in my humble opinion. Though, I have to say, as one that has been subbed since this offshoot of the main channel began- I would like to think us veteran fans' voices count for something. Additionally, I too, noticed the sound editing was bad on this one. Hell, the script editing wasn't great either... Hope it's just a bad week for 'em and not a permanent change

@@rolmodel12. - Ya, for a long time their stuff was on point, about the movie! Not a bunch of cut-a-ways to 'emphasize' their joke. This one I really noticed the narrator made it awful to listen to.

There’s been 3 different reasons given as to why she turned down the role: Bad script. Wanted money to even read the script. And the character development from SoTL to Hannibal. Never heard about her campaigning to be in it.

Hopkins Lector intentionally acted like a romantic lover and wise father to Clarice because that is what Clarice deeply wanted. Cox Lector intentionally acted like a down to earth friend to Will because that is what Will deeply wanted.
