What happened to the Voodoo Boys?

I sided with the Voodoo Boys in my first play though. Then they screwed me at the wall. Then I realized the whole thing - Jackie, Evelyn, it was all them. I've murdered them on every play though since.

I love how they shamelessly put on this better than you act even after lying to you twice. The only acceptable outcome is their total extermination.

In Night City you've only got two things that matter, your word and your metal. Someone breaks their word to you, you have the moral obligation to show them exactly what your iron, lead, and chrome are good for, chooms.

I zeroed all of them for trying to set me up.

wait a minute.... we know that AI Alt "eats" constructs to assimilate their knowledge right? If we look at the way the guy describes AI as a genie/monkey's paw and take that as fact, and we know Brigitte asked for safety, what better way to ensure their safety then to make them a part of her?

If you let the VDB's be, Placide sends you a message "Watch out for your back" and then the next message is an error "user not found", which suggests something bad happens that Placide sees as a betrayal.

I think even if Evelyn complied only giving them the Virtu they were still gonna fry her brain such is the fate of a ranyon same in what Placide did to V it seems this is their modus operandi in dealing with outsiders

"This whole situation is bent over, cheeks spread wide" is about how i feel about a lot of choices in the game. CDP really loves those "gray" choices. This feels like the Bloody Baron all over again.

In my playthrough I showed those VD bois who is the real netrunner here and forced Brigitte to commit suicide and burned others brain to a crisp with the short circuit. Poor Placid was first on fire with Overheat and then his synapses were on fire, second after he got controll bullet in head from Comrade's Hammer.... Btw something like that happened to Woodman in clouds. Just don't like massage somebody's ego

I wipe them out myself in every playthrough. I hate betrayers. V for vengeance.

Wow three playthroughs and I had no idea there was a quest associated with the rollercoaster. I'd always just repair it on my own Great video! Excited for what you have coming up next.

I wholeheartedly think they were underdeveloped due to production issues. In a scenario where netrunning is so inportant, having such a small story in Pacifica and either no longer talk to or kill them all makes no sense.

Out of all the factions in cyberpunk I feel like the VDBs have the least content associated with them. All of Pacifica just seems so… unfinished.

Four playthroughs and I've either betrayed the voodoo boys or wiped them out myself, so I've never had to wonder about what happened to them.

The voodoo boys and jefferson quest were the most eerie and interesting, i wish the was more of both

Voodoo boys seemed weak as hell compared to how they are portrayed by other npcs. Just another easily hacked mob.

I took them out in brutal fashion, including Placide. Got a message later to watch my back from Placide... wierd.

Them fools picked the wrong ranyon to betray

There's no exquisite pleasure throughout the playthrough like there is murdering every single one of the VDBs after they use you and discard you

I’m on my 4th play through and I’m still coming across things I’ve never seen before, lurks subtle things that u could easily miss the first 1,2,3 times u play lol still getting a ton of enjoyment out of this game and I hope the new patch brings even more content to discover and play through .. such a great game, that

I just realized NetWatch probably wanted the prototype Relic shard from Evelyn to use Johnny's engram just like the Voodoo Boys except to trap Alt, not ally with her.

Man, did they upload their brains or something? That is deep stuff.

Alt gobbled up all the psyches in Mikoshi so it isn't that unlikely she used some kind of soulkiller-like program on the Voodoo boys to bring them onto the net and integrate them into her AI. That is ensuring their safety

Alt needed Johnny's engram code because its subsystem was written with Relic V2 code, which would be incredibly useful to Alt. Why? With that code Alt could wirelessly take control of a person's body and exist outside cyberspace. Imagine it, so long as the network exists and bodies are connected to it she could ghost into their brains via the net, severe the connection, take control then relocate the body to another sub net access point completely unidentified. Netwatch with all of its power couldnt see Johnny buried inside V's sub systems without a direct link scan like how Viktor could in his shop. So no matter the ending Alt is the true winner of the game. why else would Alt ask the Voodoo bois to organize a heist of the Relic V2 chip? It was always about the chip. Johnny just so happened to be on the chip and V unluckily died with the chip in their head. Now i know thats a no brainer but why would she want the chip? With archival data of all the engrams and Daemons in her system she could amass an army in "IRL" to fight against Saka, Kang, Militech, Governments, and NetWatch. A war on mulidimensional fronts. My theory for this being the plot of future DLCs and god willing a sequel, is supported by the quest involving the mayor where he and his wife are brainwashed by maelstrom orchestrated by what Johnny suspects as a Rogue AI. Just so much lore and i love every second of it.

Fml. Missed this cool side mission because I was too eagerly simping for judy knowing I could never romance her. Did all her missions as soon as chapter 2 started. Did a few side missions but mostly ncpd and gigs in between. Can't believe I missed out on a roller coaster with my favorite rockerboy

I have 600 hours over 3 playthroughs, and I've never returned there to see this dialogue, thank you.

In the end, Netwatch are the good guys. Having "Free Ai" run wild will be a nightmare. And the VB caused power outages and make holes into the firewall. Also they are behind the death of Evelyn, so they allways have to die

I hope the DLC will open more into lore happening with the AI, because there's huge potential there. Johnny touches upon it during the Perales side job conspiracy, but apparently there was a war that involved AIs. The entire reason there is a corpo controlled, Net, and also Netwatch, is not to keep people like the VoodooBoys out from beyond the blackwall, it's to keep those rogue AIs out. We also know that Delamain, the AI taxi service, came from the blackwall. He was just a taxi service, and we got a glimpse of the potential havoc he could cause if he went Rogue. Johnny suspects that AIs were the ones manipulating the minds of the Perales family, then finally there's the Voodoo Boys, who were seeking to escape to the blackwall, in the hope of aligning with the AIs on the other side, believing that a war was coming. Then there's Alt, who presumably is leading them now that she herself is an AI. The one big thing she, and most of them were probably afraid of, is Mikoshi, basically a prison for AIs. If Mikoshi was complete destroyed, and the Corpo net is brought down...man things would get ugly and I'd love to see the game explore that

it's a shame that the VDB's are basically just interactable for one quest or so, with some tiny fragments of side content, it really seemed in the trailers that gangs in general would be more interesting, meanwhile in the VDB base one song just blasts on loop

This whole interaction between netwatch VDBs and the alt gave me the impression that there's a AI apocalypse coming

Was just strolling around the other day and did the rollercoaster mission by pure chance In my headcanon those teens would repair the ferris wheel as well and make this neighborhood a better place. Making it a good nice spot in a wretched city.

Is it possible you have enough footage to piece together the 6th Street and Valentinos "Romeo+Juliet" story and what the aftermath is? I seem to recall the leaders of these warring houses, if you will, end up dead or dethroned after what happens to their children but it's been a while since I did a 100% run myself.

For a bunch of net afficionados the Voodoo Boys died pretty fast to my quickhacks. These arrogant bastards die each and every playthrough no changes in the future intended.

Now that the expansion is out, there really is no reason not to screw over the Voodoo Boys, they aren't even scratching the surface when it comes to manipulating or being in good terms with AIs beyond the Blackwall.

I wish voodoo boy’s return. I was hoping they would seek revenge after I killed them or Brigitte returns offering me a job to destroy Netwatch. DLC could really add more I hope.

So the rollercoaster quest can only be triggered before judy sends you to pacifica and this NPC will be there only if you have done the rollercoaster quest? since i dont remember him sitting there when i would repair the rollercoaster on my own without the quest... Shit, i guess i have to find an excuse to go to pacifica before the main quest sends me -,- thats gonna be hard to pull off in my immerssion focused mind... Shame this quest cant be triggered after you get rid of the animals in GIM.

Ya know I was gonna walk away and just continue the story until that lady said that stupid “you’re in my world now” threat and I just can’t help but unload on her everytime I play through that part

I don't trust Alt looool. She was just as manipulative as Johnny in his younger days. Johnny eventually grew out of it through the positive influence of V but Alt became worse.

Everytime I see a bunch of VDB on the street I know I'm going to drop some bodies.

Don't get me wrong, VDBs are pricks, but i hate CORPOS more than them, so my choice was to let them be, i figured it's better to let your enemies fight eachother, killing two birds with one stone.

After finding out what they did to Evelyn and what they tried to do to me, I do NOT care one whit what happened to them.

I wonder if the way you interact with the voodoo boys has any impact on the story with the Peralez since Johnny mentioned that he thinks it's a free AI that brainwashes them

I let netwatch attack voodoboys then i killed placide and i've got a message from him later in the game saying watch out for your back, or something similar. After that it showed contact deleted

I got pissed off at these guys. But know they protected an entire community of refugees made me sympathetic to them

She probably absorbed them like she does Mikoshi. They'll be safe that way. Alt at that point is just a sentient version of Soul Killer.

I think Jack Nicholson’s Joker put it in simpler terms…they “got a little hot under the collar” lol seriously though, the thought of Alt frying them directly after they try to betray V, and Johnny’s subsequent approval of them being oft, has pretty much meant that’s the only path I have ever chosen. It’s so much more…Night City…than the alternative

I let that corpro dude track them down, but before escaping I non-leathaly took the main dude out. Several days later I get a text from him saying 'to watch my back'. Before 1.5 update nothing has happened. Even after 1.5 update nothing has happened.

Damn I never knew about the quest to repair the roller coaster. I know you can do it yourself, but I wish they'd add it back in once the animals are dealt with

I side with the VDBs everytime as there's no way my V would ally with a corpo guy from Netwatch, if V is already so anti-corpo. I don't even wait for the conversation with Bryce to be complete. He gets put down every time. I can deal with the VDBs double crossing as it's all part of life in NC. They have their own set of anti-corpo priorities and I can respect that. I just leave them be, no problem. While I can see Evelyn's desire to escape her life as a doll, I have no love for Evelyn at all. She lack the self awareness to realise that was out of her depth, betrayed most of the people she was working with, and tried to turn V against the fixer. She had one simple job; to record the virtu. If she'd kept her mouth shut about her knowledge of the Relic, and done that one job, she would still be alive. The VDBs would have no reason to spike her as, to them, she wouldn't have known what they were after.

this is just my theory but i think the guy was right when he said AI´s give you what you wish for. I think the voodoo boys became part of Alt in the same way as the souls in mikoshi. they are save behind the wall and will help the AI´s, just not how they thought it would turn out

Well if you want to know what happened to them just ask Placide. I heard he just went unconscious one moment and then just woke up to see all his friends' corpses at his feet. Very strange. Darn tragedy.

What happend to them? ANGRY V HAPPENED TO THEM. They killed Evelyn so V grilled the VDB.

I'm just starting my third playthrough and I was going to do this side quest to get this dialogue for later, and then I realized that I could really give a flying motherfuck about the voodooboys considering I'm going to wipe them out either way.

In my third playthrought, I just emerged from the tub naked, poped tactical camo, pulled out mantis blades and just left them in pieces, lol

i have always sided with netwatch for the simple reason that they are the cause of my current predicament and the death of jackie and the suffering, state and eventual death of evelyn, and i realised that them getting fried by alt is the most painful way for them to die. i say that since i belive they die the same way as tbug, described by her friend as getting stabbed by a hundred thousand knives. a suffering well deserved in the mind of my charachter.

Im on my first playthrough got tired of them trying to play me for a fool even when i tried to stay loyal to them soon as my player woke up out the deep-net, a whole bunch of unpinned grenades came out of nowhere and all the voodoo boys just disappeared 🤷‍♂️

Huh, I never got the roller coaster quest first time around. Lucky I haven't done voodoo boys quest yet on my current run.

Alt may have allowed them to continue existing as personality subroutines within herself. They still exist as conscious beings. But are no longer independent ones. The same probably happens to the engrams she takes from Mikoshi.

So in either case they get the short end of the stick. Either the Ai (something that doesn't think nor operate on the same level they do) Consume them, or they got lost in the black wall. Assuming that Alt kept her end of the bargain, I do not see the AI keeping true to it. The way the Blackwall is described thorough the game, going there is like traveling theru the Warp without a Gellar Field. Yeah one of the Chaos gods might tell you they will keep you safe, but the other ones might not comply. In short. Alt was saying I'll keep you safe.... From me! That or Netwatch finally deals with them once and for all. I think it would have been nice to have access to a net Runner Voodoo boys ending. With you ending as some sort of Cyber Saint like figure. Would add a new level to the quest were you meet the mysterious Monk.

IF you take out most of the VB without killing them and let netwatch frie them you can sneak up to placide and take him out without killing him later on he will message you watch your back

In future playthroughs, the only reason I might not side with Netwatch would be so that I could roam Pacifica myself, applying lots of evolutionary pressure to a gang that would happily turn traitor to the rest of the Human race when or if rogue AIs decide to take action. The VDBs want to be on the side of the AIs, because they have no faith in humanity to survive. If I were to go into Pacifica, start walking past one of their beach parties, and they're smart enough to not pull weapons, they live another day. If they pull iron, they can eat lead, quickhacks, and monowire. delivered by the camouflaged spectre of vengeance.

I didn't trust the Voodoo Boys from the very start. All 4 of my playthroughs I've massacred all of them in the last mission. To me they come off as an underground terrorist group.

In one of my play throughs I had V wipe them out because of their betrayal. I mean they did kill V afterall and she had no intentions of letting them get away with that. Especially Placide.

They tried to fuck over the wrong choom, that's what happened.

If you believe Jean, and his skepticism regarding AI; you may come to a horrifying conclusion, that what Alt means by promising them safe Voyage beyond the Blackwall the same way she does for V and the Mikoshi constructs, integrating them into herself. Exactly what they asked for in a sick and twisted kind of way.

Played through this game twice and apparently there's a great deal going on that I just didn't understand. Oh well...that's what replays are for.
