Amazed that nobody has mentioned Carlos Jacques! You sign him for about £200k, and every time he slams in 30 a season from the right wing, and gets 9/10 almost every game. Michael Konstantinou from PAO is another great signing; at around £5m.

Some proper legends on there, but disappointed there's no mention of Julius Aghahowa or Cherno Samba. If you could get Aghahowa in the first season you could bag him for around a million, and he'd become the one of the best wingers in the game. If you left it any later, Shakhtar would demand millions for him, and he became incredibly difficult to sign. Samba was just a legendary goal machine, but that Millwall team he was in had a few players who were ripe for poaching. Richard Sadlier was a ready-made bargain-priced goal machine. If you bought him for lower leagues teams he'd basically single-handedly power you to multiple promotions. A young Tim Cahill would become a midfield enforcer who could run your midfield for years, and Stephen Reid was the best utility player to have sat on the bench because he could literally play in any position on the pitch, so could cover every eventuality. Also, yeah, something about the Swedish league in that game. You could consistently find potential world beaters that could be signed for like £250k or less

No mention of Mads Timm? He ALWAYS ended up a monster goal machine. Fwiw I will always have a nostalgic preference for 97/98, but can recognize how 01/02 was the gateway to a more expanded and expansive gaming experience...
