@@miarawks i was snorkeling in hawaii we started to swim to look for sharks and this big tiger shark swam right under us and the day after we were watching the news and the same area and same kind of shark took a woman's snorkel
Humans are the Apex predators on Earth beit on land in the air or in the sea. Shark attacks are extremely rare (once every 5 years on average) in Japanese Waters because of shark fin soup.
“Stop worrying”. You must of took that as meaning-nothing to worry about, but that’s not the same statement, panic princess. Don’t worry about death honey, does not mean you are not going to experience it silly.
Nichole, it goes along with the saying “ if someone tells you that you don’t need a gun, you need a gun.” Happy you made it back, though, you have a nice smile.
I would never go into water where there were tiger sharks (shown in the video) or bull sharks or any other type of shark known to attack humans. People could call me a coward or whatever - no amount of bullying would make a difference.
Definitely don’t swim where I live then. We have tiger and bull sharks and to make it sweeter we are the”Shark Attack Capital of the World”. I won’t swim here.
The poor mother, I can’t imagine what she went through and will continue to go through for the rest of her life. My heart goes out to the entire family.
American Jones My dear, you know, animals have plenty of habitats... some of them are, for example: A park, you are walking through every day, a water you drink, a food you eat... so, tell me.... What the fuck you just written?
Steven Hamburg I don’t think you should avoid it completely, I just think you should be more aware of the territory that your in when you enter waters like that. Also don’t draw attention to yourself by wearing anything shiny bc sharks tend to get attracted to that and in a shark attack, it basically a fight for your life and just like that man said at the end, sharks have sensitive spots, like their snout, mouth, and their eyes so try giving the beast a couple punches in those areas and he will retreat cuz sharks don’t take fights, they like to go in for the easy and quick kill, so if you put up a fight with them their gonna retreat fast bc they know your not to be fucked with
Caleb Stewart yeah everyone can make their choice. I went snorkeling a few times in the Caribbean- never again. I believe the eco system has been compromised and sharks have been coming closer to shore looking for food.
VICTORIA TERJANIAN that’s kind of a lame thing to write. I’m pretty sure it’s a rare enough occurrence that she and her family may not have been mentally prepared for 3 to go at her - but I don’t think there is blame to be placed here, in any sense.
My friends and family always make fun of me for not going in the sea. I guess it’s kinda extreme but I’m bloody terrified of sharks and the feeling of being vulnerable in the water. Instead of learning about what to do in that situation I save myself the time and just avoid the sea altogether :/
same here, everytime I go to the beach I only go knee deep anymore and am super cautious. if i sense anything off im out. i def dont submerge or do snorkling or anything of that stuff. i don't like that feeling of knowing a 12-15 ft monster with teeth is right underneath me and there is nothing i can do to get away...
You could never relax and enjoy yourself anyway if you're that anxious. I'm more nervous now than when I was young and it's too anxiety filled now sharks jellyfish flesh eating bacteria people poo n piss aw forget it
@jDUB1 I e caught 10,000s of thousands of sharks cut the gin off and throw em back. If they were smaller we would air drown them but it’s cut and pitch.
It's hard to hear her mom had to see the attack and then pull her out... My heart goes to this family but especially for her mom! May God gives them strength on this difficult time...
What do you say in a situation like this? I mean...what did you need to hear or appreciate hearing after losing your child in such a sudden traumatic way?
Steven Hamburg yeah, no offense but Tourism is The Bahamas’ primary source of income telling people to straight up not go there is a terrible thing to say. How about just advising more caution to divers?
It amazes me when so-called "shark experts" give the age-old advice to give the shark's snout a whack, or go for the eyes. First, awareness is crucial. I would think you'd have to have some time to muster up the courage to do so. Something this poor girl did not have at the time of attack. She was literally blind-sided, and had nothing at her disposal. Face it, all things would have to line up just so. Also, shock comes into play. Sure, these objectives work, but only if time and opportunity are on one's side. Again, something she did not have. I feel deeply for her mother, who was mere inches away when her daughter met her fate. Kudos to her for getting her daughter to the beach. Finally, my deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends, and loved ones as well. My story
Yeah but I'm not fully convinced there were three sharks in the attack. I'm big into shark conservation and shark research and I read about a lot of shark attacks and this is the first time I've ever heard of multiple sharks attacking a person so it makes me highly skeptical especially since there were so many conflicting accounts of how many sharks were involved... It may just have seemed like there were many but it was repeated attacks from the same shark. tiger sharks are solitary and they do not swim in packs or hunt in packs
This happened I bit ago, but my heart ❤️ still goes out to her family!! And especially her mom , I can’t even begin to imagine seeing this happen and being so close but still not being able to protect your daughter!! And then having to get her to shore!!! ❤️
I grew up on the gulf coast of Florida and we spent so much time out on the boat, swimming, and snorkeling, how lucky we were. I’m so sorry for this girl and her family.
Fencing in the ocean not good for the that environment as well as the boundaries take a way from the experience. Knowing that sharks are around is a fact, I do believe the snorkeling companies make that known. Some ppl are even intrigued by that.
People keep saying it’s rare for sharks to bite people. But it keeps happening. Twice on the big island within a couple months. Same beach, then 1 month later happened in Maui.
Well looks like another idiot. 10 fatal attacks in a year will nearly 8 billion people on earth is an incredibly low chance of being attacked. You would more likely be struck by lightning, die in a plane crash or get killed by literally any other animal.
Smmhs Pro yeah that’s all the statistics you find on the news and internet. You are more likely to get killed by a vending machine than a shark. Funny I haven’t seen anyone dying from vending machines. But a whole lot of shark attacks lately.
OmegaAlphaTau you can record people getting killed by vending machines. That’s why hospitals put “cause of death” and not every shark attack is recorded. Lots of divers go missing too. I’m not saying shark attacks are common, just more common than the news makes it to be.
2 in a 7 billion chance i cant believe you people waste your life being afraid while other people literally sail the world with a little wooden boat and yes there is sharks there pussies... btw there is a higher chance of dying by having a coke falling on your head in the grocery store
The fact is that the Sharks don't always attack people and because of that they believe it's safe, or relatively safe, well if it's one in a million she was the unlucky lottery winner.
I'd go for the Shark, they won't eat you they just want a taste (humans aren't on their menu) they just want to see what you are. The lion with tear you limb from limb and then eat you
I am a trauma therapist and I seriously hope that family, particularly the mother, seeks psychological treatment because that is an absolutely horrible thing to experience. My heart goes out to the entire family
Sharks live in the ocean! Humans don’t! Humans are responsible for their own actions! You take the risk, you also take the consequences! Sad for the family, however humans are visitors in a sharks world, deal with the outcome based on your choice!
Yes, some survivors of shark attacks report being able to get away because the shark let go of them when they punched it in the face. So it can be done. Not saying it would be easy, but people have succeeded at it.
The tourists are swimming with pigs in the water and the media isn't talking about it. It's like they don't want to hurt the tourists industry. I'm sure the tigers are looking for the pigs like they look for seals and they got to the girl first.
@@efed.221 i highly doubt you are serious, as other species of fish feed on the remnants of their prey once it falls to the ocean floor. If you were too kill them off, other species would suffer as well.
OmegaAlphaTau I’ve never dived but my mom and Dad did they would take my Aunt and Uncle and several of my cousins, nieces and nephews lobstering and on wreck dives. My dad was a commercial fisherman he would take the dive team out off the coast of Florida several times a year. I never had time to go. My aunt and uncle were dive instructors operating out of west palm beach so they offered free lessons and equipment at cost to anyone in the family. My Dads fishing boat was at Cape Canaveral.
as sad as this is, the risks are there...I was snorkeling in the Dominican Republic and was nervous the whole time, even though it was unlikely, I was on the look out. My heart goes out to this family. RIP
I’ve watched a lot documentary programs on tv recently, those expert say shark is nice and friendly, people are misunderstood, they are not savage. Now I see, do not trust. When you are in water, you are just another big sardine.
pete L they’re not saying that sharks are “nice and friendly” they are well aware of their apex predator status. Sharks are simply just misunderstood creatures.
Man,the trauma that mother must have. Having to watch her daughter being attacked by sharks, and then pulling her body to shore. My heart goes out to the whole family
this makes me so sad, she was too young and I truly hope because of all these attacks as of recently humans fully comprehend how aware you have to be while swimming in the ocean. This is not our territory and we are no longer apex predators, so it truly pays to get educated on animals around the area to know how to better handle the situation it arise so we don’t lose another beautiful soul. My heart goes out to her family, stay safe guys❤️
sadly, people are having a revenge mindset with this situation. this results in the senseless killing of random sharks around the bahamas which is more attracting to other sharks than even just blood in the water. it is very sad what happened to this beautiful girl but we need to remember that retaliation can and will make it worse especially in this situation.
no thanks the sea is the best place of the entire world you live about 80 years why use that time to be a coward? i am actually moving to the mediterranean because the swedish oceans are so dead and no animal life at all it feels like so bye dead ocean hi alive ocean with sharks
I recently read that its a common misconception that being on a period will attract sharks. There is so little period blood that the sharks are more likely to be attracted to their actual food sources. This girl was probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Remember all the "nature lovers" who would always say..... "Sharks dont want to attack people" "it's just mistaken identity" "they are curious" etc.... Don't hear them running their mouth so much anymore.
This is so unusual, three sharks attacking a snorkeler at a popular diving spot with other people around. Its like they beelined towards her, otherwise she would have seen them circling around I wonder if she was menstruating.
@@kimberlybates27 Why would you think I was being sarcastic? I mentioned the unusual circumstances surrounding the case and gave a possible explanation. Do you think it's impossible that she was menstruating?
@fro k I dont think people understand, the beach isnt your backyard and the ocean isn't your pool. You swim out into the ocean, you're no longer the apex predator. You're a wandering sardine.
The problem is since the 1980’s you have people chumming in the Bahamas. They have people doing it that people don’t even know are doing it. It attracts sharks. I went to Nassau and if I had known they did as much chumming as they do, I would probably would have not gotten in the water.
That guy that they interviewed that said he sent his condolences or whatever basically tried to blame it on her . Practically saying they should know what to do and what not to do . How pathetic . That's so fucked up . He wasnt sorry .
It sounds like the Bahamian Tour Company is somewhat Negligent in having the vacationers that are NOT accustomed to the local waters 🌊 snorkeling 🏊🏻♀️ above a healthy coral reef where there are known sharks 🦈 that hang out. Sharks 🦈 are NOT tourist attractions!
@Oscar Asso'o Driving a car is dangerous. Do you drive anyway, trusting the manufacturers to make the car safe enough to protect you in a head on collision? The family trusted the company. Not saying the company was at fault, but only making an observation.
@Oscar Asso'o its not the same. Millions of people scuba dive each year they dont't get eaten by sharks. Its an amazing experience. I'm so sorry it proved fatal for her.
God this is so horrible. I always see stories of people on vacation and losing someone and I just can’t imagine having to return home minus a family member.
I've been hearing so many shark attacks I wonder what it is what's going on with the sharks or are they in distress. I feel bad for the mother for witnessing her daughter died in front of her hope the family keeps strong.
It's because seal populations are increasing and since they stay in coastal areas they see us as food. Not just that, many of their prey are going extinct and they have to eat something you know.
aimee glatt yeah when one min they claim they are very intelligent hunters then next they say they don’t know we aren’t food. Course we are food to them.
I've been to the ocean only a select few times in my life. Every time I think to myself "I think I want to go scuba diving" or, "I think I want to learn to surf" I hear stories like this and they keep changing my mind. This is a shame too because I've wanted to go to the Bahamas since I was a kid. I've still never been. 🙁
This is so horrible. Poor mother who has to live with such a memory. Three sharks, I wonder if the girl was on her period. Unusual behavior for a swarm of sharks to attack. Rest In Peace.
We never know what life has in store for us ahead of time, she was just enjoying her life! It's chances every day, even the everyday tasks are risks, driving, walking, etc.. This is so heartbreaking, so tragic!
You’re in the fight of your life. That’s stating the obvious. That’s the best the expert can tell you. Geez doesn’t sound appealing to me. The eco system has been disrupted. The sharks are coming closer to shore. Stay out of there I say. My heart goes out to that family.
We are all focused on the usa and shark attacks. They are Chonking like crazy allover the world. We don't hear all of the attack nightmares in africa, s.america, and many others. Something is very wrong, and not much we can do.Don't go into the sea anywhere on the east coast!!?
This is horrible! But last few weeks there has been at least 3 shark attacks but each time they are isolated icentants. I know they don't want to kill their tourism money but they have a responsibility to keep public informed and safe!
Every human must know sharks are in the ocean and sharks kill. That's all the information you need. Now make an informed decision about snorkeling. You don't need a company to help you with that.
@@cocofluff I just find it funny that these particular sharks have been tagged. There trying to keep that quiet. My question is, they knew how close to the shore they all have been, didn't they have the responsibility to alert the proper authorities?
