As a pro athlete, Michael has been on the other side of the camera and knows what it is like being peppered with questions from journalists. You can see how compassionate he is here, with the boy and his mother. Instead of forcing the boy to relive the attack with question after question, he quickly changes topics....to that of the boy's recovery.

I belong to a shark research organization and I am super glad that Keane survived the Great White shark attack. He kept a cool head and saved himself really. BRAVE KID ! Even though it can still kill a person, an 11 foot white shark is like still a teenager. Adult white sharks are usually 12-22 feet or so. Plus Even though an attack like this could happen to anybody. You should know the water you swim in to lessen your chances of a dangerous shark attack, Once again glad Keane is still with us and thanks for the upload.

“Diving for lobsters” that’s your answer as to what exactly provoked the attack, which likely was NOT an actual attack but a curiosity bite. People don’t understand that when sharks ATTACK, it’s legitimate attacking, they’ll thrash, pull, drowned their prey and not let go. Very few species of sharks just bite without being curious about humans/boats/etc. Yes, this kid did get slammed by this shark from what they all say, but as the mom states; it’s so very rare (seriously look up how many fatalities are caused by sharks yearly vs things like driving and texting. They just crossed paths and again, the kid was diving for lobsters, the shark most likely used that area to hunt for mammals that eat lobsters as well as boats that catch and may toss bad ones back down. Easy meals. Glad the kids okay, but come on folks; don’t avoid the ocean, are you going to avoid driving because of car accidents? No you won’t. So why avoid something as beautiful as the ocean? Just be aware of wtf is going on around you.
