Trying to watch this while high, about three minutes in and I don’t think I absorbed a single one of those 1 gorillion weird ass names you just threw at me. But I like your face the goofy way you talk, so I’m onboard 🫡
Wow. I was skeptical but this unusually long chain of strangers being interested in Hecktor S. Wilson and replying to each other without actually replying to the comment directly, unlike any normal youtube comment chain interaction, has changed my mind! I will be investing with Mr. Wilson. I'll give him everything I own: A half lit cigarette and a pack of gum with 3 sticks left.
@@alperenpltinum They've started their own news podcast called Morning Brew Daily which I listen to everyday (in the evening, since I'm in Asia). Judging from the people running the podcast... I'd say that Morning Brew is quite a consumer-friendly company. They don't ask for money, only for you to share the newsletter and RU-vid channel in exchange for some cool gifts like mugs, stickers, etc.
Good Work has been crushing it lately. The comedic context belies the effectiveness of communication and extremely insightful interviews. For Random Comments, I'm Keyboard Maniac.
I have been following the OpenAI drama nonstop since Friday, and this is BY FAR the best most succinct reporting yet! I’m floored. Most news anchors haven’t a clue what they’re talking about when it comes to tech. I wasn’t expecting real actual reporting at the depth and understanding you presented it in. Oh, and hilarious BTW! I needed a good laugh after all the depressing OpenAI news lately. Thank you!
i love it when tech companies cosplay as low-quality, over-dramatic reality tv shows! it makes me trust everything they do so much! ps loved the 'what a time to be alive' dan toomey-nutepapers :D
Finally a cool guy doing cool reporting! This is the only style of journalism that makes any sense in the sickeningly absurd society we live in. Satire is the only way forward and whoever doesn't get it is a lost cause! Keep it up man. You rock!
What's so spectacular is the amount of content that people were able to make about this in the 5 days between this guy getting fired and rehired, everyone's freaking out and then the board's like "jk, sorry, we're leaving, he's back, have fun everyone."
Your channel which gladly i found today is just pure jam .... one of the best, if not the best. The way your content is stroctured is just amazing ... down to earth, while providing amazing sarcasm. And i've veen daily visitor of tgis platform since 2010 Thank you.
"If you have a life and care about normal things like drinking water or caring for your children..." AMAZING line. Whoever wrote that, give them a raise ha
I think he was using the word Tribe in its Agile terminology meaning: Tribe usually means a set of squads. Squads are smaller teams of devs, designers, testers working on various projects.
@@irfuel it is quite cringe, I work tech-adjacent and when the journalist in this video said ‘alignment’ it gave me ptsd from all the meetings with tech founders 😂. But I do still find it interesting that it’s become it’s own world with its own language, just on a social interest level.
Wow, Dan, this breakdown is poppin' with tech drama, it's like watching "The Social Network" in real time. The upheaval at OpenAI serves as a poignant reminder of how consequential AI technology is, and that the underpinning personal and philosophical tensions are as consequential as the tech itself. Waiting for the sequel - perhaps your next Thanksgiving dinner will feature Microsoft's new AI division? Keep us posted, mate!
Or it's a reminder AI is a stupid scam that doesn't work. So the hype train it's been put on is going to crash and burn the second capital markets shut off the money faucet.
This has HUGE star wars prequels trilogy vibe. The deep politics, the two sides, a leader that can be reinstated and may get "unlimited powa". Can't wait to see the clones arc unfold
if there's anything important that I learn from my Corporate Law class: 1. As a founder you need to classify your class of shares and define the kinds of rights granted for holding specific class of share (e.g., Class A/B/C stock) 2. Preventing hostile acquisition by having poison pill provision on the company's Bylaws 3. Careful negotiation when negotiating with VC/PE/Angel Investor on the investment terms & conditions
The company started as a non-profit. It created a capped-profit subsidiary to take on outside investment (because training big AI is hella expensive) with the nonprofit still having full control. Sam does not own any shares (of the profit arm) and neither does the board.
the entire point openai was created was so that it wouldn't just be your typical profit-seeking, founder-CEO-dictator controlled corporation (explicitly, not Google)
The dramatic crescendo in this video skyrocketed my anxiety. Why am I having a flight or fight response to corporate governance? This feels how I felt about the threat of the Bermuda triangle when I was like 13.
I am amazed how fast you got this out! You did leave out all of the Saturday and Sunday drama though. Also, was the end a Two Minute Papers reference? Cuz if so that’d be awesome and on topic here.
Legitimately having no idea what this was, opening the video, sipping my water bottle, Right after putting my baby to bed, goes insanely hard. Thank you Good Job
An interesting piece of side commentary I've found on this is the finance world's reaction to this. There is a sense of disbelief in the fact that over 720 of the 770 employees have pledged to follow Sam. I thought it showed a difference in the type of person in the finance world vs the tech world. Would be interested to see you look at Fannie Mae's guidelines on significant deferred maintenance and the condo collapse in FL. Balance sheets of HOAs, reserve studys, etc.
“I have been travelling a lot this year, particularly in the Global South. People know this company because of Djibouti 🇩🇯 “ ….this story is even wilder when you are just reading the AI-generated captions
