I'd love to see them release decoy armor/pretenders for the rest of the prime masters that never got one as a generations select set.

Consider me one of those "weirdos" too. I was really disappointed when we didn't get that shell with Grand Maximus. I thought for sure it was going to hit the mark and if it didn't it would be offered separately. I overestimated the popularity of Grand Maximus I guess.

So I'm guessing a remold of Titan Class Trypticon into Gigastorm will just stay a dream?

I loved the decoy pretenders too Proto! Was so upset when they didn’t release an official Waverider/Diver to finish off the original Masterforce crew. I like having the Pretenders at a “humanish” scale.

I hope we get a Legacy Titan Classes Decepticon Metrotitan And Decepticon Omega Sentinel

It frustrates me Hasbro isn’t making use of Pretenders in the RED line.

Had Takara-Tomy waited until Hasbro unleashed their HasLab from years later, I think this could work. I mean if Unicron, Vic Saber and ultimately Deathsaurus have their funds completed, why not give a redemption story to Grand Max here? I think it can be possible after the 40th anniversary passed so this gotta work. And for the Pretenders, there's gotta be smart thinking to make it work.

I'm genuinely a little surprised this hasn't been redone as a gen selects yet. Seems like it would be a hit with how popular Black Zarak was.

I'm guessing the latter half might have something to do as to why Legacy Metroplex didn't get Drillbit, since every Titan class before him did include another figure

Personally, the decoy armors didn't provide enough transformation for my liking. I'm a much bigger fan of the current take on pretenders where they're merging the shell and inner robot together. Frankly, I'd take them all at deluxe class in this style. I loved Legacy Skullgrin.

Prime Masters/Decoy Armor: I liked them, but too often Hasbro coasts on nostalgia to make the sale. From Titan Masters to Weaponizers, Modulators and Fossilizers, they never give a reason to care or collect. I could imagine a scenario where the Primes are still around but not on Cybertron. They are now being hunted and to avoid capture they underwent this 'Pretender' process. The decoy is through off the Prime Hunters. The Primes are split in two. The Prime Master has that Prime's mind and memories. The Prime Core is the square cube that contains enough power to rival the Matrix. Instead of those useless Baby Bjorns, specially designated deluxe and voyager class figure would be Prime versions to character. And they would have a Core compartment to insert a Prime Core. An example, you have PotP Jazz, but there would also be a Jazz with a space for a prime master. Something like that to make collecting them worth while

People keep asking about this re-color but it really was a dud...I had an opportunity to buy it and I passed on it. Took months to actually sell out via online retail. And I had paid for an LG Metroplex instead. Those decoy armors were a dud too..even though I knew what they were...but they were these little cheap figures that clogged up hooks in Target and Walmart.

As someone that snagged a Grand Maximus from TFSource after the preorder stuff around 2020, I never even knew there was supposed to be a pretender shell for him. Wow.

In (almost) that vein, does anybody know what happened with the Premium Finish line? WfC Shockwave and Wheeljack were teased, yet never saw the light of the day.

I would've loved a wave 4 of decoy armors and wonder who all they would've made 🤔

Not to mention Masterforce is coming in 2023 Legacy. i do have a fact that there will be more pretenders for us (Especially the look of Dauros, which is Skullgrin but he's robot mode is filled in with Japanese G1 Continuity.) As for Autobot Pretenders, I'd expect more, like Diver, that Orange Aircraft thing, and a car...

I will say that there are 3d print frontplates. Iirc I bought a bunch of them from a guy on Shapeways and made customs of a bunch of the old pretender shells. I'm particularly fond of the custom plate for Bugly that I painted up. He came out spot on to the original

For everything happening to Grand, I'm surprised we got Black Zarak to be made. Otherwise, it would be quiiite ugly in terms of the same situation.

It sure sucks being in the US and not getting a Selects Grand Maximus despite getting a Selects Black Zarack. Who am I to pit him against? Shoulda lived in Japan, I guess!

Sorry to correct u Proto, but on Shapeways, there are a bunch of 3D printed front pieces for these decoy armors. They did just about every pretender. So if u want more, and can paint, Shapeways

Thinking about the pretenders and how we have only gotten stupid core and dlx chrs cos they cant figure out how to do them.. We got primemasters with pretenders shells. And i have to be honest id love a 6/7 in red style action figure of them

I expect the next time they decide to revisit Fortress Maximus and Metroplex, it will likely be Haslab, thou I could be wrong! With the Pretender charcters, I rather have the shells that are the robots, similar to ROTF Bludgon or Generations Thunderwing and more resently, Skullgrin, I rather them do that with the cons, where's the Autobots, I think the inner robot modes were actually better looking as desgins, of course, with the POTP Pretenders, the fact they had very limited movements and were pretty much just oversized weapons, actually hindered their sucess, Micro masters, they kind of suffered from a similar problem and a few bad desgin choices, thus the A game wasn't bought to those figures, thou I think the scale of the Micro masters can work, if they were actually able to truly interact with a larger robot, as they were doing back in the Armada days, thou that is my thoughts on the matter!

Is the size the reason for big Transformers not selling well in Japan? But take a look at the DX Soul of Chogokin line. Granted that there has only been a few in this line for the past ten years, Bandai is still making them every other year. The latest one, Mazinger Z remake, sold out in many places. Perhaps each retailer only has small quotas? It is interesting what Japanese collectors in big cities in Japan choose to display in their rare real estate.

Could they not do both Metrotitan and Great Maximus as Haslabs? It would give thema chance to improve the molds for both.

i think the main issue was that they were selling accessories as a standalone and they were all functionally the same. if they had sold them with figures they would have done much better, similar to how they could have sold the micromasters with the base modes and people would have enjoyed those more
