This brought me so much peace of mind man... I am in this exact situation. I am already enrolled for the fall semester and have submitted my veteran certification request to receive funding for those courses; however, I am for sure going to fail one class that I have taken this summer and was worried about how this would affect these fall courses that I am expected to start next week. Thanks for this video. You're a life saver!
Happy to relieve some of your stress, Chris. Failing a class isn't the end of the world (or your benefits). It's just important to learn from it and don't let it happen again, cuz it could leave you in a bad spot if you run out of benefits before finishing a program.
I have two online classes (6 credit hours total) I started them and was doing fine but I stopped doing any work because it got too much with my job and family.
I don’t want to pass the class. I do not have time to do any work. I started a new job and it was easy at first then got to be a LOT. I just don’t want to be stuck paying for them when I Fail. It’ll be the first classes I’ve ever failed in my GI bill or ever for that matter.
So even if you fail all your classes but you show up all the way till the end, you won’t be penalized? You can just take them the next semester but i might run out of GI benefits before I graduate unless I take extra classes every semester and summer. Correct?
Hopefully this is a hypothetical example... You're very likely to run out of benefits if this happens. If you fail with a normal class load, doubling up is only going to make the problem worse. If you find yourself in a position where you're likely to fail multiple classes in a semester, I would call 888-GIBILL-1 to ask for their best advice and confirm there will be no penalty. Failing every class is a different animal than just one.
Question: do I still have to take 12 credits during the summer to be considered a full time student in order to get the BAH ? ( I’m planning to take the 10 week term during the summer )
Negative. Full time is different in the summer because the term is shorter. Check with your education counselor at your school to find out what is considered full time.
I'm taking one 11 week graduate class and because of covid it went from a hybrid class to a zoom held class. It is 6 credits which makes me full time and receive 100% BAH. If I were to fail the class would I owe anything back?
Based on it being part of your degree program and assuming you finish the semester and take an F, according to VA guidelines you won't owe anything. You'll just have a zero productivity rating for your GI Bill that term.
I’m in horticulture and landscaping they had me taking liberal arts math and that requires that you have a C 70% for passing D letter grade is no longer suffice
It's automatically applied to your first withdrawl of classes. So just make sure it counts and you drop from all the classes you need to withdraw from. I messed up by withdrawing from one class, then a few days later withdrawing from 2 more. I should have done it all at once.
What happens if I fail two classes in one term. I’m praying I get at least a D in both of those classes, but in the event I end up failing both classes what happens? I finished them both, but I’m just nervous about running out of benefits like you said
Hi, I am taking an 8 week class and my 3rd week into class, I have decided it wasn't for me. I am suffering from health issues, and the class is too tough for me. I feel like withdrawing since I am now having to choose between my health and the class. I want to take the class again, but at a slower pace where I don't have to do 5 or 6 assignments a week while doing a part-time job. Should I withdraw?
This is a tough one. You really only get one chance to withdraw with no consequences. Have you used that one chance already? Is might be worth taking the F and redoing it. Maybe getting a passing grade is still doable if you play the health card with your professor. Watch this video before you do anything - dropping the class might be an expensive mistake ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I7iYwXRYp9I.htmlsi=z1SI40udJn5hRS8S
@therealjasonburds Hey, thanks for responding to me! I withdrew one time from a class before getting the gi bill. This is my first time using the gi bill, and I am taking another class as well, which I am passing. The course that I am struggling with is also taking time away from my other class. I am one class away from my degree, but if I withdraw, I will be two classes away. I am planning on going to get my masters degree, so I have to choose wisely.
YOU JUST APPLY WITH THE TROOPS TO TRANS. THEY'LL DO THE WORK. UNLESS IF YOURE OUT THE SERVICE THEN YOU MIGHT NEED VA APPROVAL/VERIFICATION LETTER WITH THAT DD214
All classes?? Well, from what I understand as long as you continue to attend and keep your GPA above 2.0, the same is true. However, if you drop below 2.0 you go on probation and benefits may be suspended.
But what if failing a class means I'm not a full-time student anymore I passed 3 and failed one. I heard I will have to owe all the money back. I'm a post-9/11 gi bill student by the way
Failing a class doesn't change your enrollment status. If you started the semester as a full time student and began failing a class middle of the semester, as long as you finish that class and finish the semester with all courses as a full time student, you should be fine. It's only if you drop/withdraw or stop attending classes that you will need to pay back.
