I am also a Krav practitioner. Krav Maga strategy is never to fight someone at their strength. Don't box with a boxer. He should have done more calf kicks till boxer can’t stand up anymore. Then take his legs out, (or Thai clinch and knee) and ground and pound which he did, but KM guy took risk to box for too long. A better boxer would have close in and Tyson him out.
What do you think if there are no rules and no gloves? Krav Maga attack areas that are forbidden in combat sports right? I have a friend who is also a Krav Maga practitioner. The moves that he showed me are quite brutal if they land. And you definitely needs to run if they lands.
Exactly!! I practice Krav Maga also and you would never box a boxer or kick with a kickboxer/TKD guy or Wrestle a wrestler etc. You leverage your strength against their weakness.
the krav maga guy doesn't use any techniques in krav maga itself, it's like kick boxer vs kick boxer, if you watch krav maga practitioners have techniques like strange blocks that are actually useless, even the krav maga guy only uses boxing punch techniques and kicks in kick boxing, he doesn't use the techniques in Krav Maga itself😂
In order to use Krav Maga, he has to get close to him. If he wants, he can kick him in the balls or gouge out his eye, but he doesn't.@@muhammadvincentdiaz
Something not mentioned here is that the boxer is at a huge disadvantage because of the grass and no shoes. You can get a lot more leverage with boxing shoes on a mat. When you train years on mats and transition to grass you realize quickly that you lose a lot of mobility and power. Now all the punches you've trained to take advantage of the torque from your legs and hips are diminished. When you fight on a mat your footwork is faster and you can really dig into the mat to generate force. The Krav guy is probably more used to fighting on different surface areas being that it's self defense oriented. Krav guy would have probably still won but it's worth considering.
Meh, you mostly train on whatever surface the gym has as a floor and in whatever footwear you bring with you only entering ring for sparring and fights, so it's not like boxers don't know how to move& fight outside the ring. It's just that this guy's footwork and torso work are worse than ones of juniors in my fairly average gym
They were both at this disadvantage and the Krav Maga guy didn’t use all of the Krav Maga moves he kept it simple and waited for the opening so I’d say he did the boxer a favor by not grabbing him and elbowing his face or kneeing him but that’s just my take you should watch some Krav Maga videos it’s crazy what they can do in such little time
In the years I did train it was mostly in shoes. Which is typically what you’d be wearing were you attacked on the streets. I’d say it’s even as far as footing goes.
I practiced Krav Maga for 3 years, and yes krav maga uses some boxes hits, but against a boxer indeed i would explore more what is not his environment, like kicks elbow and in this case maybe taking the fight to the ground. Nice job both of them
@@terron7840 its simplified MMA without the less effective acrobatic stuff as i understand it. In BJJ you can spend years on very advanced tecniques which you will rarely use unless its against a very skilled enemy that also know BJJ, someone that fights in MMA will have to learn that since these are the types they fight in the ring, but the krav maga practictioner wont waste time on that since odds are close to 0 he will ever have to fight a BJJ brown or blackbelt, its not worth spending time on learning.
Krav maga guy looked in his element good win! Shinigami is right, experiencing certain kicks for the first time is mind blowing and if your body is trained you can only receive so many before losing your base for good. That's why Thai fighters take the W with their roundhouses.
It's interesting to see the comments here about kicks, because all the kicks he used aren't even the full frontal and very effective direct krav maga kicks.
It's been many years friend and I'm glad you've never changed. "It doesn't matter how many years you played Street Fighter 2 if you've never thrown a hadouken in a real fight"
@@notproductiveproductions3504 I gotta be real.. that's the first time in awhile I've actually laughed out loud. I don't even have a comeback thank you
As a Krav Maga practitioner, it is appreciated that since they are going to carry out a sports combat, both contenders have similar physical abilities. I'm tired of seeing fights where the MMA representative is clearly an athlete (8h of training and 6 days a week) and the KM representative is the photocopy guy. When the weights and the hours of training are similar, the results of a sporting combat can surprise many people (although Krav Maga is not sports-oriented), and good Krav Maga schools, those that invest time in sparring they can train highly skilled fighters.
Right real Krav maga is Not a sport. In real combat there are no rules. If you can tear off or hit the testicles you should do that. A boxer or kickboxer is not aware that his balls dont dongel very long. In real combat.
Krav Maga has many excellent philosophies and attacks and anyone that says otherwise is obviously unintelligent. Enjoy your Krav. I just do Karate for now but I'm interested in taking some Krav Maga classes in the near future.
Krav maga isn't supposed to be in combat sports. I'm from Israel and while I was in the army we trained Krav Maga. It includes groin strikes, eye gouging, strikes with a rifle etc.
Wow, very good fight. I was legitimately impressed by the Krav Maga guy, who I was certain would be picked apart by the boxer in no time. If he only does Krav, and has no other training experience in other styles/systems, then it's pretty obvious that at whatever Krav Maga school he trains at, they spar regularly, and his instructor definitely incorporates alot of boxing/kickboxing into the Krav curriculum. He definitely did an outstanding job. Well done mate!
Krav Maga is actually like a fusion of lots of martial arts, the firs thing you learn is how to punch like they do in boxing, but you also learn lots of defenses for everything, we also don't do spars training in the classes, it's just that we train lots of different attacks and defenses from differents martial arts
@@gabrielromero2385 if you don't spar, it's time to look at another school. When I did my instructor training with Itay Gil 3 years ago, at the end of every 8 hour day would be 30 minutes sparring. And on the last day would be pressure testing techniques then an hour sparring with 20 minutes of that being grappling. If my previous 9 years before that didn't include regular sparring I'd have failed the course.
yeah i hate when people watch videos from youtube and they say that certain martial art isnt good like bruh do they even think that that is one video it doesnt represent whole martial art
Absolutely agree, and not only that, it is also appreciated that since they are going to carry out a sports match, both contenders have similar physical abilities. I'm tired of seeing fights where the MMA representative is clearly an athlete (8h and 6 days a week) and the KM representative is the photocopy guy.
Mostly because most Krav clubs are bad. It's a buzz word gym that offers nothing, or it's the real deal. Never seen anything in between, and unfortunately far more common to see garbage gyms teaching bad practices. A shame really.
Krav Maga is not ment for these fights. KM is ment for real life situations where the goal is not to engage in combat at all until absolutely necessary.Given such a situation a KM fighter would not fight with gloves in a hit and back up style like this one did. It would be more like endless aggression until the initial attacker isnt able to fight or backs up by himself. The KM guy in this video just fights like a kickboxer...
Back in the day, I went from shotakan to kickboxing. This was right around the time that jiu jitsu was getting popular. We didn't have a lot of real wrestlers in my area (no wrestling programs at schools in my state). I did meet some really talented wrestlers in college. Most of the good ones seemed to be from the mid-west. I got away with a lot, just by learning to sprawl. I stuffed a lot of takedowns, and was able to stay on my feet with just a sprawl. When they did manage to get their hands on me, it wasn't good. I have definitely been ragdolled and twisted. But yeah, takedown and ground defense is a must for a striker.
@@letsdothis9063haha, I also went Shotokan to kickboxing. The thing is I knew what my weaknesses were as a striker, so I took wrestling classes for a while. I was never very good at winning wrestling bouts, but I knew how to escape grapples and bad positions better than anyone. I'm now looking to see if I can actually improve my groundwork by taking up Jiu Jitsu. Karate is still my core, but if I mess up and get to the ground I want to learn how to do more than just escape.
Really enjoyable fight and commentary! Even if he isn't the best boxer, there seems to be a lot here to learn from, like how useful that sweep could be at the end.
@@hb-ol9oc The older I get, I find the more I can learn from anything. Not everyone finds their luck this way, however. Trust you can find your growth as you engage with content, with others, or with your own attempts at development. All the best!
I didn't realize how effective leg kicks were. I guess since ufc guys are conditioned more to take them they just make them look easy to take but look what happens against regular athletes. Amazing
As a krav maga practitioner. Fighting a boxer with boxing technique is hopeless since he has more experience in boxing. So if krav maga wants to win he could have knocked boxer out at first round by first delivering a few punches and then finisher with a roundhouse kick to thigh or as the boxer is trying to punch him and he's able to read the path of his punches he could punch once and fake another unch then use double leg takedown and an arm bar would be enough to make his punches slow and weak or he would tap out because of pain
From what little I remember about Krav Maga, it was all about kneeing the other person in the groin, over and over. I wouldn't expect them to allow that sort of behavior in a sport.
Pretty much the essence of Krav is to knee to the groin and headbutt with cheeky elbows eye gouging. There are no rules. It is for life-threatening situations, not entertainment, which is why it is not allowed in entertainment sports like MMA. I do not even know why this is happening tbh
Krav Maga is meant to completely decimate and neutralize threats by any means necessary. It's not meant to be a sport. Fish hooks, groin shots, eye pokes, whatever it takes. It was designed with military and police in mind.
It swas legal from UFC 2-14. A ton of self-defense, “anything goes” guys competed during that time. Only one fight in all those events ended to but shots, Keith Hackney Va Joe Son.
In actuality, it’s just whatever martial arts the instructor happens to know combined with a set of mental principles. So there’s no real point to calling this or anything else Krav Maga
Welp, krav maga guy could have ended the fight almost immediately if he wrestled the boxer to the ground, just as it happened right there at the end. It's nice to have shinigami in the commentary btw. I was also surprised about the boxer's willingness to throw leg kicks and even a backfist. Very entertaining match overall
The KM guy really should have known better than to toy with little calf kicks and treating it like sparring practice. He should have clinched up first thing and unloaded knees, elbows and headbutts in a mad flurry and ended the fight asap.
Just like Randy Couture vs James Toney. Double leg within seconds, and ground pound. That would be ideal. But Krav practitioner’s ground game varies. Not all are comfortable to go to ground immediately
Years ago in college I sat and watched a heavy weight karate competitor from South Africa spar with a Golden Gloves boxer from New Jersey. Forty years ago? So memories fade, but I recall both held their own. No grappling, but competitive.
All kickboxing techniques are part of krav maga so he was doing krav maga actually. You must be under the illusion that krav maga is just front kick to the groin and eye gouges
“Krav Maga” Guy is clearly trained in Muay Thai or MMA or Kickboxing or at very least his gym heavily incorporates these concepts. I have NEVER seen a Krav guy (im sure legit Israeli commandos can use if effectively) perform this way. Every Krav practitioner could be obliterated by a high school wrestler unless they are training another legit martial art.
This is a silly comparison. Krav Maga is not a competitive sport like wrestling. It's meant to neutralize threats as quickly as possible. Proper KM training is applied in a "no rules" environment. A high school wrestler would have a broken joint within minutes of a real fight with a KM practitioner. Now, compare someone trained in MMA vs someone solely trained in high school wrestling and the wrestler will get stomped every time.
Until the km guy used a thumb to the eye, throat grab, or elbow to the back of the head. Sport is just that, sport. It matters on the streets. Ending things as quickly and violently as possible
@@boom-bm1kl yeah I hate to burst your bubble but the sport mma athlete can do that too but he can do it better than KM guy because he is used to full resistant sparring. If you cant spar with the technique you WILL fail with it.
Krav maga is a tactical advantage too winning a fight or confrontation as fast as possible using specific moves when struck at or when giving a strike. This instead turned into an ordinary fight.
I am very thankful that I studied Krav Maga. Most of the training does not involve contact, so I've suffered no injuries. The basic fighting tecniques it taught protected me in every ( stupid ) bar fight I was in years ago. Even at middle age, I feel that I could disarm a knife or club. Not a gun though. Not a gun.
I think it is kick boxing vs kick boxing. In krav maga, you kick the groin, break the floating ribs, and then crush a brick onto your opponent's head. The guy without the shirt may be kraver, but he is not using krav maga. What I mean is that this is not Krav vs Kick Boxer. Street fight (and Krav Maga and other combat techniques) is not about who is more skilled with jabs and round kicks or Jiu-Jitsu style tricks, it is about who causes severe injury and trauma first. That is the main difference between today's martial arts and fighting (combat or defense) systems.
Me as a boxer I went into boxing learning jujitsu and also before doing boxing I was doing jujitsu and kickboxing so I do have a little bit of experience to not letting the fight go to the ground and if it does I’ll be OK if it does I think if you’re gonna learn one martial art you should try to learn more than one
yes if you go down in KM, the first thing you'e going to do is keep one leg firmly placed and get some kicks in with the other or make yourself small and protect your head at all costs. The boxer seems a bit in shock once he went down and failed to protect himself
I think the Krav Maga guy throwing those lead pendulum-style leg kicks would utilize them a lot better as a countering/intercepting "stop hit," sitting at kicking range, waiting for the other guy to start to take a step in to close space for punching distance, then step in or to the outside and "sweep the leg, Johnny." LOL. If you want to see a really good predominantly boxer/ju-jitsu leg-kicker, check out one of Nate Diaz's most recent fights, I forget which one, but he uses a punishing leg-kick follow-up with some boxing combos. No-can defend, leg-kick style. Sawadeekhap!
A punch is a punch and a kick is a kick. Doesn’t matter what martial art you start with, it’s all mma really now and it’s all down to the individual fighter not the art
Nice to see a review on that German promotion. I like it a lot because there are some fighters with potential but it is relativly small and they still fight outside without a cage. This specific fight was good but as a krav maga practitioner by myself I do not get the point of training krav maga for a sports event with MMA rules. There is a lot of stuff you cannot use in MMA from specific areas of attack to tactics, multiple attackers and weapons... but anyway nice to see the progress of Malte.
Both tough guys. The boxer fought straight up, very little slipping or head movement. Ate a lot of straight right hands. Early Tyson was a master of bob, weave, then counter punch.
The crab mega guy isn't even doing crab mega. He's just boxing like the other guy. He can't even catch an arm or move out of the way and drop him. They're both boxers it's boxing
Not a fair fight . Krav maga teaches throat jabs and eye pokes and gouges and knees and kicks to the balls and elbows etc etc . That’s not being allowed especially with gloves so Krav Maga can’t fully be used in “ competition “ . That’s why it’s designed as self defense on the street to survive . Can’t be measured this way . This is boxing purely . Which obviously gives the advantage to the boxer .
It's a sports fight. I didn't notice any kicks to the crotch zone, for example. It works well for accepting hits or orienting yourself in combat. But this is not a typical krav maga fight.
Awwwwwwwe MANNNNNNN! ALL i see is KICK BOXING! (i just wanted to see what it felt like to be a youtube troll master/armchair warrior for a brief moment and say EVERYTHING JUST LOOKS LIKE KICK BOXIN).
I took a couple of years of Krav Maga and would have taken more if circumstances had allowed me to do so. My sense of the Krav Maga ideal is that if one is still fighting three minutes after the first punch is thrown, one hasn't really accomplished what Krav Maga is intended to do. I had a couple of police officers in the first class I took, and they both talked about how they couldn't afford to be exchanging punches for three minutes in a real encounter. I don't say this to put down what this gentleman accomplished. He fought a great fight, and I congratulate him on his win. He's clearly done a huge amount of training and sparring. I would never have been able to fight with him even if my health hadn't failed. I just don't see what he demonstrated here as typical Krav Maga fighting. Both of these guys did a great job and are to be commended for their dedication to their work.
I knew it! I knew if it went to the ground, the boxer would be done for. I'm not surprised that the boxer landed more punches, but thats because he is a boxer... Krav Maga has a number of techniques that can be pretty affective outside of the ring... and nearly every Israeli knows it. I'm not too sure how effective Krav Maga would be in combat sports. I guess that all depends on the practitioner.
@@hozza0411 The big puffy gloves only soften a punch, so if Tyson could easily deliver a knockout with those pillows, just imagine the power on a chin with a smaller glove. I'm quite confident that even today he could take out most intermediate fighters with a jab. Don't forget that with his neck being the same width as his whole head he could, can take a punch too, not just give.
This guy is probably less than my level of Krav (2-3 years I have) my coach knows too much. This fight would be over in seconds. He wouldn’t even need to box. And remember. Krav Maga is to deliberate or kill. They are sparring by right now Edit: and Krav still won. I also do MMA. In fighting. I think they are both equally as effective maybe Krav more so slightly. In real world street scenarios. No comparison. Krav is one of the best, if not the best martial arts.
Krav maga isn't a sport though, it's a self defense system; so it would consist of kicking the boxer in the balls, kneeing him in the head, then leaving. This was two boxers who threw in some kicks, and ended with some grappling. They're both skilled and it was a great match, but not an accurate krav maga application.
What fight were you watching Jerry? LOOL Boxing guy did well but was never winning, he caught Krav dude a few times but Krav dude landed just as many important hits if not more, and was far more varied in attack. respect for admitting bias via edit comments though I respect that.
Was the Krav Maga practicioner allowed to do everything he learned? Like knee kicks into groin and balls? Using ellbows? Grappling? Or was he just allowed fist punches and kicks, which is max. 20% of all Krav Maga skills...he might have ended the story much faster otherwise😂
Probably pretty standard MMA rules. So elbows, knees, grappling all fine, but nothing to the eyes, throat, back of the head, or groin. Still confused why he stood up and kickboxed with him most of the fight though. Lots of trading punches, and that's not something I'd be keen to do if I knew I was fighting a boxer. If he'd have gone in for a solid single leg or clinched up and thrown some knees, things could have been much different, as I don't know if the boxer really had an answer for it.
KM isn't the kind of 'protected' form like muay thai or BJJ is where you have some specific requirements to call yourself "instructor". You or me could open up a Krav Maga training center tomorrow without knowing more than how to spell the name. The fact that a lot of wannabes sell bullshido that way is the reason there's so many people getting their rears kicked.
He did use krav maga here, krav maga has striking and grappling techniques from other martial arts. There is no such thing as a krav maga technique only krav maga principles. Every technique he used is part of every krav maga schools curriculum
Boxing is a gentlemans sport with rules. Krav Maga is a fight for your life fight skill. My trainers told me to learn every fight skill but perfect boxing with all the physical strength from other fighting skills you learn. You become a shadow when striking the vitals with combos when perfecting the distance.
As an Israeli I always sort of root for Krav Maga, but honestly I was betting on the boxer and sort of surprised the KM guy won. Why? Well, ppl forget KM is not a competitive sport, its sole purpose is to end real world melee as quickly as possible (whether by escape or deescalation or severely injuring an attacker) and the moment you are in a ring with rules in place, you're already out of your element. The KM guy won because he had some training in leg kicks, takedowns and ground work. But you don't necessarily have to be good at any of those, or even taking or throwing punches to be a good KM practitioner. You're trained to break fingers to get out of grapples, then gouge eyes to end the fight. It's not a sport, and with sporting rules you're crippled or you're on your own relying on how good of a kickboxer or grappler you are.
No they say black guy is the boxer, he hasnt seen any kick in his life obviously. Or beginner level and his boxing is no more than 5 months either i believe. At least i was at his level of boxing after 5 months of kickboxing, my kicks have been always better than my boxing tho.
@@yagzyalcntas553 leg kick. Jumping knee. Hands held like a kickboxer rather than a kickboxer. Naw. Not a great kickboxer or boxer but he’s no pure boxer.
