@@discendos Can you ask them to change it? I dont like it. All my characters are named Tav and it is hard to tell them apart in the load screen. I would prefer a name generator.
"If you kids don't put that knife away and get out of the dirt, I swear to Mystra I'm turning this quest right back around! And no, we're not getting Baldur's Gate on the way, we have Baldur's Gate at the nautiloid!"
I love Gale lol. Come to think of it, I don’t recall a single moment in the game where he legit panics about anything. We love a calm and collected king.
Yk after becoming a literal walking bomb and as a result a complete liability to everyone around me I really can't imagine my panic response going off at much else
"If you use that knife, I will incinerate you." "And your friend too? Hardly." ... Asterion, if you use the knife it would mean you killed their friend, so the incineration is definitely a *you* problem.
dude, he's a wizard. what other spells? i cast fireball. I DON'T CARE HOW MANY PARTY MEMBERS AND INNOCENT ORPHANED CHILDREN ARE IN THE BLAST RADIUS! I DIDN'T ASK IF I WAS IN THE BLAST RADIUS, I SAID CAST FIREBALL!!!!
Getting murdered while your friends stand back hits different when one has a revivify scroll and the other can incinerate the person holding the knife.
Due to my crippling gamer fear, I never used a single revivify scroll. I'd lose a fight and come back with a new plan first. What if I needed them later? Same reason I finish every Resident Evil game with 50 magnum bullets. What if there's a secret bigger boss?
@@Pro_Butcher_Amateur_HumanI think it's gamer OCD to be exact lol. But I feel you. I'm the same way with max revives and elixirs of any kind in pokemon
@@Pro_Butcher_Amateur_Human I'm usually like that with items but for BG3 managed to break the habit in a fight that went badly in act 1. Never had a need for Revivify scrolls after that.
I can just imagine it; Astarion: "don't try anyt-" Shadowheart: *pulls out scroll* A: "What's that?" Gale: "THAT, is a scroll of Revivify... drop the knife if you DON'T want to be incinerated" A: 0_0
You get unique dialogue with each person if you bring them to this interaction. Like if it was just shadowheart there she wouldve said something instead of Gale.
Iirc she says something like "I need that one". Astarion's reply I remember very poorly, but iirc it's something among the lines of "then co-operate" except far more extravagant and sassy, of course.
@sarahno4748 if he does bite her OR gale it has some very funny effects (made better by the fact that when they find out he's a vampire they both have lines saying how he shouldnt try/wouldn't like the taste). This game is so PACKED
@@CassandraCarter Or perhaps you're completely missing the point. If he kills they're friend then why would it matter if they would die when they incinerate Astarion, it is DnD though so I suppose it does matter for resurrection purposes. Either way you missed the point which was that I was making a joke at what Astarion said in a continuation of the bit you did, not an insult toward you.
I totally forgot about Gale, he had been chillin in the portal until after I defeated the goblins lol. I found out after a friend was mentioning Gale a lot and I was like WHO THE FUCK IS GALE?! Yea completely missed the guy.
Same, First playthrough I believed I " examined " the portal and judged better to leave it alone, before learning thats where Gale is 😅 then I went back lol
Dude same. Killed the entire camp with just Astarion and Shadowheart, took two long rests to do it, and then turned back cause everyone was talking about how the wizard you rescue from the portal was really useful. I didn't even know he existed. He definitely would've made the camp easier.
Nah Gale is a evocation wizard. He’d keep the gang safe so I have no fear lobbying fireballs at a hoard of enemies with my Barbarian Tiefling in the middle of it all 😂
Do you centre the fireball on the tiefling so it looks like a mini-sun exploding out of them? Surely that should at least add advantage for any intimidation check by the Barbarian.
"And your friend with me. Hardly" ...that's... that's why he said 'if you use the knife.' Astarion, what did you think he meant by use it, cut a steak dinner?!
How the fuck is it possible that Astarion could be holding us at knifepoint and yet I still get butterflies? Dude literally just has to say anything and I have the constitutional reliability of jello.
I'm sad I never got this knife to the neck scene. My half wood Elf Druid passed some sort of check and was able to see him sneaking on her before he could grab her. 😳
I got the knife to the neck, failed the dexterity check to roll away safely, but did manage to succeed the follow up check to headbutt him in the face to escape. Best and most hilarious introduction of all time!
Karlach in the background when tav defuses the situation is probably like that meme of “oh it was a joke then? (saying this, she casually throws aside a large rock)”
This seems more like a "What happens if you meet Astarion and Gale is in your party", because 'Last' implies that you've Lae'Zel, Will, and Karlach already at camp. I love both Astarion and Gale so I'm fine with this content anyway :D
Or, because the combat is literally turn-based, just hop into turn-based mode, wait for Astarion to pass his turn, then everyone walks up and stomps him.
I had a character pass that perception check, then just turn around to Astarion just standing there awkwardly holding a tony dagger, pretending his plan didnt just fail and hes still super threatening. While it was pretty funny, I did miss the fun dialogue you get when he actually manages to ambush you. Recently saw some of the ones you get if you have Karlach or Wyll.
I love Gale so fucking much because he looks like the generic Wizard you would expect in D&D but it's really just a front. My man is a sarcastic asshole who will kill you on sight if you step out of turn and then consume your equipment.
i played my first run 100% spoiler free, had seen just one trailer and promotional stuff... so there i was, almost at act 3 thinking "when do i get to meet astarion? :(" caved in and searched the internet and ofc he was right in the first few minutes of the game in the only spot i didn't notice i could go to LOL
Hi! Yes, Astarion, but if you use that knife, Gale will hypothetically not have to worry about said friend. :) I know the hair is from Tav's Hair Salon, but how did you manage to get that armor?
I love how Astarion is actually kinda panicked by the 2 other people staring at him, Gale said, if you use the knife you get incinerated blah blah, and Astarion thinks Tav being there will save him, but if he uses the knife on Tav, Tav is dead and Astarion has nothing to bargain with
yeah feels like the interaction could've played out in a way that Gale will incinerate Astarion before he can use that knife, but more like a oversight.
me during my first blind playthrough getting him after level 6 because i didnt know he existed and eventually googled “white hair knife guy baldurs gate”
Gale’s default subclass is the evoker, which allows area of affect evocation spells with dex saves to not damage allies. He later says that the tadpole has weakened him (he’s a former arch mage) and he’s only just received it. At this point he may be under the impression he can still hit just Astarion with a fireball.
I went through most of Act I before realizing that I had accidentally bypassed Astarion at the start. Had to double back and get him. My friends were baffled because they thought he was unmissable
According to the Wiki, Astarion's starting Charisma score is only 10. Neil plays the character in a way that is way too vibrant with personality for this score to be so low.
Much like a player, the NPC is minmaxed because Rogues don't need CHA. It's stupid, but that's what we get when we use point-buy instead of random rolls.
