Remember Skyrim's vampires don't need to feed! Full deep dive with lots of considerations here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S_91jK1aAeY.html
Hence why Serana eats bread rather than ever biting anyone. Molag Bal is about _choosing_ domination and forcing others, so requiring his creations for feed would be less about them choosing his way and forcing others vs them just going along with his plans.
Excuses not to prey on people sort of ruins the vampire concept. In the movie "Daybreakers", set in the modern world, vampires have taken over the world and the protagonist is one of them. In Daybreakers they have to work with the rules. Vampires have no reflection so a camera display a picture of the user on a screen i the bathroom. The protagonist is a hematologist desperatly trying to invent synthetic blood to feed the masses since without blood they wither into monstrosities. What little blood that can be harvested from the few remaining humans, that are kept in an artifical coma to be tapped for as much blood that they can survive to be rationed down to as little as a few drops in a cup of coffee. The few still free humans are mercilessly hunted to be captured. But Skyrim got it absolutely right, if Harkoon wins he ruins the world for everyone, including the vampires. Non Harkoon aligned vampires often gets it and may even offer bounties on vampires that threathens the masquerade. But in my opinion vampires SHOULD have a horror hunger. Imagine if Serana HAD to feed and it then would be a question of what targets she would be allowed to choose.
@@thesurvivorssanctuary6561 she’d probs jus go beast mode through powers she gained in the soul cairn or summin along those lines (but still get fucked by the DB’s max smithing and enchanting)
@@thesurvivorssanctuary6561 one has to imagine that her and Valerica are more powerful than Harkon since they are the ones who got the Volkihar strain of vampirism from Bal directly, and then likely passed it on to Harkon
Harkon has never lost. Only thing, he lost is his body. He made pact with Molag Bal, he's son of coldhabour and pure blooded. He's not going to suffer from punishment in Coldhabour, because Molag Bal's disposition is too high. So, he can get vanpire army in Coldhabour, and conflict will go between Harkon/vampires/dremoras and Hollow City forces, maybe cooperated with members of Dawnguard. Once Harkon manages to destroy his foes, he'll find a way to return to Nirn as a ghost.
I don’t think the Daedric Prince would like all of their servants turn to Molag Bal nor do I think Molag Bal would sit idly by and watch his curse to make people suffer turn into a boon. The Daedric Princes would definitely try to intervene because a world full of vampires helps none of them.
There is a problem. In elder scrolls universe daylight is unneeded by plants. Plants existed and lived even propagated long before the magnus escaped. The sun is ONLY the source of freely awailable magic, which some plants could be using. So him winning would mean that plants like wheat and nirnroot would loose their alchemical properties and mortal races would spend many time longer replenishing the mana. So Harkon winning would mean men totally destroying the aldmery dominion.
But if the crops die, if all the plants die, all of the humans, elves, and beastfolk die too. What would the Vampires feed on? It would be like the extinction of the dinosaurs, except worse. The vampires would die out too. That's what I never got about this plotline. Does photosynthesis not exist in Mundus?
Funnily enough in Skyrim the sun is just a portal and not really needed and harkons vampires don’t need to feed though normal ones do because pure bloods don’t need to feed at all mixed bloods (are a product of alchemy ) and will need to feed else they fall in to a coma and he doesn’t care about mixed bloods TLDR Pure bloods (vampire lords/ harkons council ) will be fine and the sun is effortlessly replaceable
There's another RU-vidr who actually explains this. And unfortunately, noone but the Daedric Princes and Gods survive this, not even Harkon himself. It's a really stupid plan because as the mortals die, he also slowly loses his food source... he's essentially forgetting he's apart of the circle of life as well and so he rules nothing and unintentionally kills Vampire kind in the process.
They could hide underground, and subsist off human chattel alone; but ultimately, being the King of a dying world affords you less power then being a servant in a utopia.
Exactly, in desperate times, there would most likely be unity, especially if there's a common goal...or whatever I dunno, I just want to sound intelligent.
*Valerica:* _"If eternal night fell, there are many who wouldn't stand for it. They would raise armies in attempts to return things to normal. The order of the day would be our destruction until every last vampire was hunted down and eliminated."_
I very much doubt the Thalmor and the Empire is gonna to team up. Honestly i think they'll try to blame each other, because people suck, and panicking people are vicious
I think the “bloated sun” we see is more of a magical thing than just realistically blocking sunlight. Even when you do throw the arrow there is still light, it’s not as dark as nighttime. So i suppose crops and wildlife would continue to exist to some extent. Even Serana and Valerica who are against this plan do not mention the crops and wildlife dying, they just mention everybody would go against the vampires if he does it.
Ive always hated the "plants will die" theory, it comes off as a cope Its like they forget that novice mages can create balls of light that can hover over anything they want
@@EA_SP0RTCENTERagical balls of light probably arent the same thing, and the change in climate would clearly be a deathblow to majority of crops, leading to famine, rioting, and geneal disorder. So no, its not cope. All the light bulbs in the world wont help if the sun is blocked. Ffs.
Imagine a union between the empire, stormcloaks, aldmeri dominion, and every vampire hunting faction in Tamriel just knocking on harkon’s door one day 💀
we'll call it "The Last Alliance" and it'll happen to end the 4th age and usher in the 5th age, but we'll call it "a new age" just to throw people off. then todd howard will pay-to-win the whole game and hire the entire marketing team of EA to turn everything into microtransactions.
That would have been a cool Season Unending alternative. The Empire, Stormcloaks, and Thalmor all agree to a temporary ceasefire to band together against Harkon
No they wouldnt. They havent done much of anything throughout the millennia of the races murdering one another or discrediting one of their own newly made "gods", nor did they do anything when the demons ran rampant across the continent or world more likely. And giving them credit for what WE do as the protagonist is an insult to the countless people who played the games.
@@carastone1897 erm Akatosh? Shezzarine? Kyne giving the Thuum? Pelinal whitestrake?!? Your statements are just wrong. They have intervened time and time again. Constantly.
I'm sure someone will defeat him, whether it be the Ebony Warrior, Alduin, or Ulfric Stormcloak. Harkon is powerful, but there are others who wield a greater power.
@@k-rodkev-dog7449 Ulfric knows the Thu'um and has an army on hand. He only loses after being ambushed and then by a stroke of luck gets a second chance thanks to Alduin, whereupon he only loses because of the Dragonborn opposing him.
Dawnguard ranks would suddenly swell. Meridia herself would also likely take great ire with Nirn being ruled by undead vampires. Every empire in Tamriel would likely put aside their differences, realizing no one benefits from infighting and Castle Volikar would probably get wiped off the map
You're the first I've seen to mention Meridia. Why isn't everyone else taking her into account? If the world was ruled by vampires, she'd go bat sh#t crazy!
*Valerica:* _"If eternal night fell, there are many who wouldn't stand for it. They would raise armies in attempts to return things to normal. The order of the day would be our destruction until every last vampire was hunted down and eliminated."_
The existence of life in Black Reach pretty much discounts the "killing the sun kills Tamriel" theory. Yeah, it might be cold, but Vampires are undead and resistant to Frost
@EndoScorpion Apprently they don't need to feed on humans. News to me. But humans do need to eat, which would significantly decrease the population overall
@@EndoScorpion I don't think they need to feed at all, it's just something they do because they Feel Hungry it's not that they actually are hungry, I mean they're Dead, it might Drive them insane or feral but they can still exist without it, to my understanding
When a vampire blood soaked Arrow is shot at the hole to Aetherius(the sun) the Daedric powers of molag Bal within the blood lessen and even begin to overpower the Aedric presence of Magnus, thereby lessening the sun's negative effects on vampires. On the other hand, when a sunhallowed arrow is shot through Auriel's bow, at the sun, not only is the arrow getting boosted by Auriel's power himself, but also by Magnus and Aetherius itself as the energy from Aetherius rain down on your enemies. Lore wise, it effectively turns your arrows into nuclear weapons, but we obviously don't get that in game because it would be busted.
they are truly a dying breed, created by unnatural means. the natural world will ebb and flow to equilibrium which in rare cases means diluting until it's no discernible difference.
It might not cause crops to die if it's only blocking out the higher wavelengths of light. It's still letting the red wavelength through, and that's where most plants absorb most of their energy from.
@@swampdonkey1567 effectively, yes. the effects of auriel's bow blocks the magic that harms vampires. it'll allow vampires "eternal night" which would probably evolve into making them enhanced like a blood moon on earth.
@@thevashfan12392 it would still cause world wide panic. Entire armies would rise against the threat of vampire taking over the day. The one vampire chick said so herself
I wish there was a 3rd option to this dlc a dawn guard that allowed vamps and were-beasts and helped those who wanted a cure/to control them selves since there not all evil just all the ones we run across apparently
Theres actually a mod about Harkon Winning in Dawnguard. It gives you a time limit and if you dont complete the dlc, you get a special game over. You cant play AFTER he wins but still. It's called "End Times of Dawnguard" on nexus mods (a spinoff mod of "End times" which does the same for the main game)
As Valerica says, there would almost certainly be intervention by the outside world, but what really matters is that exceptionally powerful organizations such as the Psijic Order or the Imperial Elder Council would likely intervene, against which Harkson stands absolutely no chance.
When something unexplainable happens. People naturally balme the people they don't trust. So yes. It would cause a wedge between the factions. Because they already don't trust each other. Now add the sun being taken out of the sky. And there is even less reason to trust anyone. Happens all the time in real life
@@theonlineanimal6009 what would the stormclocks or imperials gain from blocking out the sun? they both need the sun to grow their crops, if anything i can see them blaming the thalmor
I think plant life would adapt. I mean, most living beings in Nirn are magical in nature, so surely they'd adapt to the dark magic of a constant red black sun over time.
But fast enough to save the human population? And feed it amd feed their animals. With an increase in vampires, and vampires essentially rampaging .....
Red nirnroot. It will proliferate across the surface, chiming everywhere, to the point everything eats it only to get rid of the sound. Life will be saved by the red nirnroot invasion alone.
All mortals wouldnt die. Stop spreading this nonsense. The sun is blotted out, not blocked. The rays are still gonna feed the plants and bring warmth. All the red blot does is stop sypressing vampiric powers.
Line from parody of Skyrim called The Senile Scribbles: “…not my fault you’re following this stupid prophesy” “I-It isn’t stupid…” “oh really, let’s see you’ll take away the sun which will kill all the plant life which will kill all the animals and then all the humans and eventually kill all the vampires?” “Wait wait, can you say all that again, but slower” … or something like that, it’s a beautiful parody love the guys parodys in general.
Eternal darkness means no life (animals, crops, human, elf, etc), which means no food (blood) for the vampires. Do they need the blood to survive? If so... even they will fall.
Harkon's strain grow stronger without blood, they just become more visibly vampiric and less mortal (while weaknesses and strengths both become more pronounced). This wipes out both mortals and other strands of Vampirism so it's actually a clever move.
@@xChaosFlowerIt certainly is, but that's the way of his whole Clan. They all seek gratification in the short term and rarely plan well. His plan is clever because it achieves his short term goals, but those goals in of themselves are not very clever, if that makes sense. He'll end up with a dead and barren world with a hunger that can never be sated.
Glad someone pointed this out. As we see in the caves and blackreach , some plantlife can survive without the sun but not enough to support a massive population. Odds are that as men/mer populations start to dwindle, the vampires would turn on each other to secure the remaining supply of blood.
@DEEZ GUTS Someone already mentioned that was very short sighted of Harkon He could have tried to pit Tamuriel into continous war, making opportunity for Vampires to thrive while going unnoticed or not having the troops to deal with them. Play the kingdoms like puppets. But I guess the main take away from him is, he's crazy, and crazy for power lol 😆 😂
Nope. Harkon's strain grows stronger without blood and only needs it to imitate mortals and repress urges as the gameplay mechanics show in Skyrim. ESO and Oblivion have differing strains that work differently to demonstrate this.
Bit off topic, but a short you guys posted a bit ago talked about the dragonborn being sent to continue the cycle rather than stop it. I believe I have found some rather obvious in-game proof of this. When talking to Paarthurnax about dragonrend, he will ask, 'Why do you want to learn this Thu'um?'. To which if you respond with 'I like this world. I don't want it to end.' He will say this in response: "Paaz. A fair answer. Ro fus… maybe you only balance the forces that work to quicken the end of this world. Even we who ride the currents of Time cannot see past Time's end… Wuldsetiid los tahrodiis. Those who try to hasten the end, may delay it. Those who work to delay the end, may bring it closer." I believe this is Paarthurnax saying that killing Alduin will do nothing but get the gears turning once again, hastening the end of the world. Now for a bit of a mid take from me: I think in TES6, either the Thalmor, a cult (similar to the Mythic Dawn cult) or both will be the antagonists. The Thalmor may use the next incarnation of Alduin in order to reach aetherious by 'destroying' Nirn or even wilder, the void of oblivion itself. A potential cult leader may try and use the next incarnation of Alduin and destruction of the world to become one of the new gods of the next world. Cultural gods in the event of the destruction of the world (this is if nirn, the moons, planes of daedra and oblivion itself are destroyed and remade) would cease to exist, or become a 'old' or 'forgotten' gods, influencing the world but dwindling in power due to lack of worship. Other gods based on concepts like sithis, akatosh and arkay, and the magna-ge (would be forgotten but would be worshipped as the sun) would likely survive. Of course, this means another 'save the world' plot, but I would hope TES6 would have better guilds, sidequests, world building lore, and eventually dlc making up for such a predictable plot.
Whenever i start a new playthrough, i always kill Harkon 1st, Miirak 2nd, and Alduin 3rd. It's what i think is canonically weakest to strongest, so it makes more sense to kill them in that order.
People could easily hunt down all the vampires, they are barely anymore powerful than mortals in skyrim. If this was say- The Witcher that would be different
I'm pretty sure plants would be fine. No WAY they wouldn't think about that. My theory would be that the process would simply corrupt the sun into putting out different magical energies or removing certain traits or wavelengths that aggravated their vampire blood. If we are ignoring magical Influence and think purely scientific than I would remind you photosynthesis uses red light the most so I would imagine the reddish glow would still work fine. We don't know the exact wavelengths put out so it's not for certain but at worst some full sun loving plants would suffer and shade loving plants would be fine.
I believe the Senile Scribbles described it best; “Without the sun, it’s gonna kill all the plant life, which is gonna kill all the animals, which is gonna kill all the humans, which is eventually gonna kill all the vampires.”
Most likely scenario, with the Dawnguard's immediate knowledge of the Volkihar clan's plans in fulfilling a prophecy to darken the skies, the Empire, Stormcloaks, Admeri Dominion, and just about any faction who is bothered by it will be tipped off about the cause and eventually a coalition of Tamriel's armies would come knocking on Harkon's doors
No sun = No Plants & No animals & No humans. With creatures that don't need to feed either and are pretty much immortal like dragons man had the worst idea ever, & since we're specifically on his victory, dragons will just come back because he killed the Dragonborn he can't kill a dragon properly.
Harkon would be gangbanged by every faction in Tamriel and beyond. Does he really think the aedra or Daedra like Meridia would let him live? He's gonna get himself dead....again.
They don't need to feed to survive. Vamps are undead, and drinking blood only relates to their abilities and comfort, not survival. Look at the game mechanics and the psychology of Molag Bal and it all makes sense.
Only some strains (like the one in ESO) *need* blood; Harkon's (which extends to all throughout Skyrim generally) only craves it, but grows stronger and less mortal through asceticism and abstinence.
Help me out here, isn't the sun Magnus, or the hole left by Magnus? And where Magicka comes from? Would plunging the world into darkness also cut the world off from Magicka?
Stars exist. But beyond that, the sun going out in doesn't effect magicka in game, so you could either take that as what it was, Bethesda validly not feeling the need to implement that as a mechanic because its extra work and/or wasn't considered, or you could choose to take it as evidence that magicka is still coming through the sun.
Huh, I remember having this discussion in a forum. Apparently, most organic life in Tamriel would die, which would be bad for vampires as well as they would have even less people and creature to feed on, so its highly possible the world would just slowly die unless the divine beings intervene.
If one wishes to be the most powerful, the smart choice would be to limit the power of others. Harkon would have indeed caused power to others whod likely become rivals whod threaten his power.
I believe that the sun is affecting vampires power wise so that they cant use their whole power. Imagine a Vampire given blood directly by molag bal with no sun rays of magnus limiting their magic. They would be mini bal's running around
That's only if he used it all the time. He could use it I'm seasons. Weakening the human race so they are never strong enough to over throw him. But he would give them seasons of sunlight so crops could grow so his entire food supply doesn't die. It's like having a nuke and telling everyone to do as you say or you use the nuke. Even if it kills everyone.
The only thing that would happen is that everything is destroyed. Vampires would be in paradise only for a small time. No crops, no livestock. No livestock no humans. No humans, no vampires
I had absolutely no connection to the family before finding Serena in that tomb. Bold of her to assume I'd just take her side over the older and more experienced vampire. I was already a vampire. Maybe I want to fulfill the prophecy with Harkon.
So I’ve never played this DLC so excuse my ignorance, but if vampires block out the sun, wouldn’t all life cease to be, and thus, leave all vampires in a perpetual state of unending hunger/list for blood? Idk how vampirism works in-game (I’ve only ever been a vampire in Oblivion, and even then, it wasn’t for very long), but I’m pretty sure you gotta feed on victims fairly often. So wouldn’t this vampire just be condemning all vampires to what would essentially be unending hell-on-earth for them as their insatiable hunger grows to levels unknown? Seems like a dumb plan lolol
Oh really? So if he defeats the dragonborn then he automatically wins huh? You know...there's another character out there, who's inmortal in the sense disease and age don't affect then that might take offense to the Sun going black, and return for the first time in over 500 years. Of course I'm talking about the Nerevarine, or did everyone forget about them? Last we heard of them they went on an expedition to Akavir and simply haven't been heard from since. That was during the Oblivion Crisis...and since Corpus prevents aging, there's a really good chance the Nerevarine is still alive. I highly doubt Harkon could defeat him...Sure the Dragonborn is strong, but the Nerevarine was much stronger.
Without sunlight, crops dies, cattle dies and so does humans. With only vampires left, they’re going to feed on each other? Harkon, the King of Nothing.
