I spent 5 weeks in a coma from brain swelling and the Doctors said I was going to be a vegetable if I ever came back but here I am. I have some memorie loss and weakness but I am the exception not the rule. I just got lucky!! Two years and still going strong!
When doctors say things like that its always a prediction (logically. even if they are so sure about it) because anything can just happen and your body can and will do anything for you to function at your fullest.
I was in an induced coma for three weeks. The doctor told me months later that I was the closest one to death in the hospital and that I beat 100 to 1 odds.
My aunt died of lung cancer a few years ago and donated her body to science. It was hard not getting to say my last goodbyes but I’m so proud of her for helping doctors learn about cancer. When she was cremated, my grandma (her mom) put her ashes in little Angel snow globes for everyone in the family and it’s my most treasured possession
I was brain-dead. In a coma before and after I died. Full life support. I woke up without brain damage to full use of my body. Valentines weekend of 2005.
You were _NOT brain dead._ That is an irreversible injury. You had brain damage, yes, probably severe, yes. And your scans probably looked horrific, promising you a future as a vegetable if you survived. Yes. But not total brain death.
I was in a coma from a brain injury for 12 weeks. I was also in a medically induced coma for 2 weeks. I can remember dreams that I was having some nightmares most of the time they were good. Sometimes I have memories that I did something but to find out it was a dream that I had when I was in a coma. The medical-induced one is where the nightmares started.
I can't imagine how that long nightmare felt. Not being able to wake up from it??? Sorry you had to go through that. Do you ever have nightmares about that?
Two months in a coma in 1994 here. Septicemia and septic shock killed me a few times and was trying its darndest to make it permanent. Obviously this video isn’t comprehensive on comas but they did omit something I think is important, there are several levels to a coma going from light to heavy. Your body responds differently in each of them. In fact that’s how they determine the level of coma - by doing physical tests like pain response. My first month was a deep coma where there was nothing. No memory or dreams. Second month it was lighter and there was copious dreaming. I can tell the timeline because some of the things that happened around my unconscious body were incorporated into my dreams. One of my first sets of dreams involved the doctor cutting my throat and I later found out that they put a trach in my neck at the one month mark. I could write an entire book just on the dreams, and I have thought about it. It’s so much more complex than you can imagine.
I’ve been in a medically induced coma. I had bad hallucinations and heard everything that was going on around me. It was terrifying. I even heard my first code. I had to have therapy for it
@@John-Smith02when someone is dying and they are trying to resuscitate them in the hospital, they'll call a 'code' to get the necessary employees into the situation.
This is interesting. How long were you comatose and how long did it feel like you were out? Aside from hearing things were you able to feel and/or smell things?
@@0p4l_3y3z_XD no I didn’t feel stuff. And although I heard things, my brain had to fill in the blanks as I didn’t have the other senses to make head and tail of what I was hearing. I’ve been left with a serious fear of hospitals and I have nightmares about dying and no one can hear my screams. I was out for 5 days.
I was in a coma for almost a week due to a really bad car accident. I was in a dream like place where it looked and felt like i was awake. When i was in a coma i didnt know i was till i woke up and the doctor told me i was in a coma for almost a week. I was really really confused.
Do you have any memories of any dreams from when you were in it? Meaning not any actual memories, just memories like waking up and remembering you had some weird dreams or something
Once the doctor told me I'd been in a coma and I had a few days to realize I was in a hospital. The dream I had was that I was in jail and my cell mate and I decided to rip off my eyelid. I want to say it was at that point I "woke up" came out of the coma. When I realized it was a dream it scared me by how real it all felt
I was in a coma for nearly a year. I felt like time just flashed. I know it’s different for everyone. But I had this one dream about everything collapsing around me. But after everything collapsed I just woke up. It was a very mind opening experience to know everything can literally flash before your eyes.
I was in one for six months three years ago and had to learn how to walk again and my heart is healing and now and still disabled from a Aortic dissection in January was three years ago and almost lost my left leg and lost 100lbs. And God is good all the time. I was 34 years old at the time.
There was a man I once knew who was in a coma, he said that could hear the voices of people talking but he could not do anything no matter how hard he tried. It was as if he was trapped inside his hown body.
Oh boy that's an actual syndrome outside of a coma. It's called "locked in syndrome" and I genuinely can't think of anything more terrifying than that. I can't even imagine being totally conscious, able to know, hear, and see everything going on around me, but NOT BEING ABLE TO REACT AT ALL! The first time I ever heard about it, I was like, "nope don't like that."
In 2011 I had several strokes and all my organs shut down. So I spent 6 weeks in a coma. I still have problems explaining the experience. I do remember being in a place where there is no time. I was outside of my body. I saw something like a river that was like a collective of consciousness? It's very hard to explain.
I was in an induced coma for 8 days in 2017. I was dead when the paramedics brought me in, and the doctor resuscitated me and put me in a coma to save my life. He didn't truly believe it would work... but it was my only chance. Once he began to think I'd survive he didn't think I'd be "normal" if I woke up... but somehow I was and made a full recovery. It was scary though! The drugs they gave me to keep me under, plus oxygen and glucose deprivation of my brain, caused a drug-fueled 8 day/nightmare of hallucinations and delusions. I lived a whole nother life. Hearing and sight are still intact (as long as they don't tape down the eyes) so PLEASE be careful when around coma patients... they can hear you and maybe even see you! The scariest thing was that I was on a ventilator but didn't know it, and they tried to take me off of it too soon and I felt the suffocation.
According to my experience: It was like lying down on a hospital bed, your eyes are closed, can hear some things that your family says. But you can't react. Then you go back to like sleeping again. GBS Survivor here 👋 🐢❤️❤️❤️🐢
I was in a coma for 4 days, I was on ventilator in ICU. Due to wrong medication and accidental overdose. My so. Found me, non responsive. Due to resuscitation, lack of oxygen to the brain, I suffered memory loss, some brain defects, optic nerve damage, which there is a chance of blindness if it’s unstable. My left eye I’m losing eyesight. But each coma is different. I’m so grateful for my saving mY life, he’s my hero
I was in a coma for almost 3 years after getting jumped at 10 years old at school as soon as I woke up i named the POS who jumped me none of them were arrested until I told the identity of them and I couldn’t walk for a year after waking up and couldn’t move my body for weeks funny thing is it felt like 3 hours not 3 years .
I was placed in a medically induced coma twice in a month and a half. Once on December 6 2022 and once on January 20 2023. Both times were during a mental health crisis. In December, i went into cardiac arrest twice, was on full body life support and had an NDE in which I saw a city, whose rough outlined buildings were surrounded by white light and shrouded in mist. I heard a voice say to me "it is not yet your time. You still have much to do. I will help you return home." When i woke up on December 13, it took six days to stabilize, while relearning how to swallow, eat and walk. In January 2023, i had a similar incident and suffered respiratory arrest. My lungs became filled with fluid and my oxygenation level fell below 70% a few times. I was on life support the second time as well and in the ICU both times as well. IF YOU ARE IN CRISIS, DON'T GIVE UP! It's not worth it.
By the words "mental health crisis", I feel like you're talking about a couple suicide attempts, and if that's the case, I'm glad you're still here, girl! The world needs you here, and you shouldn't go until it is your time. I hope you don't do anything like that ever again ❤️ I love you and I'm here for you 😊
Ive been in a medically induced coma twice. They both occurred in a six week period between December 6 2022 and January 23 2023. Both were after instances of purposeful harm due to my ab*sive ex. I became clinically dead twice in 24 hours the first time. To say im lucky to be alive is an understatement. The total amount of time i was in a coma during that time was two weeks. Im still not 100% but im at least 90% now. Most obvious difference is an increase in ny seizure count and emotional difficulties. Otherwise, im the same. I only know this via people involved with the situations. Otherwise, i have no memories of any of it.
I was in a coma when I was 6 years old due to severe hyperammonemia from a genetic disorder. I don't remember it at all other than waking up with a horrible headache.
I was in a coma for a couple of weeks. Thanks for researching this and putting this all together. The amount of work that must go into these projects is crazy! Lol Love your format so much !You guys rock!
I was put into a medically induced coma after I split my head open, I don't remember how long I was in a coma for, but I swear I had a complete out of body experience which felt really strange
In July of 2017, I found my friend dead after he had been there 3 days from an overdose. I don’t remember much, or a smell from him even though he had been basically roasting in his bedroom. His roommates didn’t even know. My doctor said that I was in shock, that’s what saved me mentally from the odors and the event in itself. I have terrible PTSD and it causes me severe panic attacks. 😔
I'm the most introverted, uncomfortable person in the world when I'm in social situations. But, for some reason, I love public speaking. I'm not nervous whatsoever in front of a large group. In my speech class in college, I rarely even prepared my speech assignments. I knew the topic, and I could just go up and do it.
I REALLY enjoyed the segment about death. The physiological changes that happens after death; as well as the how the autopsy is performed was so interesting.
My grandpa was in a coma after a heart attack. Unfortunately the lack of oxygen to his brain is what ultimately took him away from us :( Edit* thank you all for your condolences. I really appreciate it ❤️❤️
The thought of a rescuer potentially dying attempting to recover my body off the summit of Everest is horrible. I knew the risk and I decided to take it, losing a life for a body isn’t worth it and I’d be devastated to have someone else’s blood on my hands. Same goes for my family member, having their remains would be great but If things went wrong I couldn’t live with myself knowing my selfish want for remains took a life. I took someone away from their family and now they’re in the same position as me with no remains and no closure.
So ok ive been in a coma and it just felt like i slept. I wasnt aware of anything. I died for 4 and a half mins woke up a week and a half later not aware of anything that happened up until i died. Also death was just like saw a white flash (like if you've ever been punched) saw black till I woke up a week and a half later.
I have been in two separate month long comas. The first one was drug induced after a serious car wreck and the second was due to sepsis. The second one was the most serious as my kidneys failed and the rest were trying to fail. I was even on a ventilator to breathe. Not only do I have vivid memories of weird things that felt so real. From stories my friends told me, a lot of the weird memories seemed to be based on something that went on around me. The weirdest thing is I had a memory from the second coma that was a continuation of one I had from the first coma
Being in a coma is like having sleep paralysis ten times worse, you're consciousness is awake you can hear and feel but you cannot respond back to anything because your brain has your body on shut down.
There's that one boy who ate that snail and got an infection and he was in a coma for like 15 years. And they didn't know it they thought he was brain dead. He heard everything that his mom said he watched every show he had to endure all the abuse from his caretakers he was fully conscious and awake but his body would not respond to anything. It's an amazing story
I was in a coma for two days. I only know because the woman I'm with mentioned the said he didn't know if I would ever wake up. I commented to someone exactly what you said. Best sleep I ever had.
So are we just not gonna talk about the fact that the first story in the video is the story they talked about in the thumbnail? Since we all know any other video wouldn’t have even included the story mentioned in the thumbnail but instead would’ve click baited? Yea okay… THANK YOU GUYS SOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING THE STORY MENTIONED IN THE THUMBNAIL THE FIRST STORY IN THE VIDEO ❤🎉💯
Recently in the end of March my dad fell into a coma after getting into a modern cycle accident, his healf is rapidly deteriorating and he's still stuck in a coma. Unfortunately Ives got the painful news he won't make it till the end of this week because his liver, lungs and kidneys are all failing. It doesn't help he was a drug addict and smoked cigs as well, his lungs have collapsed a multitude of times.
Regarding donating your body: At least in Maryland, it's just a short form you fill out, no blood tests etc. To donate organs, that's another matter. But most of that is after death.
It amazes me to think that it took so long to discover that proper hygiene…or anything resembling cleanliness…was so important. I don’t know why it seems like a common sense thing.
No one has ever reached the bottom of the ocean so there is no way of knowing exactly what happens to the body at that depth. Even the Titanic is nowhere near the bottom - it sits on a shelf several leagues below sea level.
25:00 I want to point out there is actually a difference between coffins and caskets. A coffin has that well known shape with 6 side. ⚰️ A casket is rectangular.
I am a spiritual person but sometimes I question the believe since you literally feel nothing in a coma. Just pure darkness. I thought your soul is supposed to go somewhere when your body is out of commission like in a coma…..
Bajau actually is from Sabah Borneo. They origin from Philippines migrated to north Borneo during Sulu era. They are always live nearby shore. And yes they hold breathe longer than ordinary people due to practical practice from their youth. Trust me that lower lung is not optimal by us but Bajau are expertise on this.
I did 4 days and honestly same. Its funny when people ask if i saw anything when i was "dying" and i tell em a whole story of how i saw the angels picking up my body and taking me to this land and then i just tell me loljk all i remember is blinking from my room to a hospital bed 4 days later time travelled
Don't need to Google pressure ulcers...I've seen some you can put your arm in. And have put my hands in others. Some are unstageable. And some are so far gone the smell isn't even there anymore.
Y’all remember that lady that was in a coma for like 12 years and became pregnant? I think about that case from time to time. One of her doctors knocked her up. It’s pretty fu*ked up
My uncle heads 3 aneurysms in his brain when they took care of the first one, he went into a coma. Now, when they took care of the second one that they found in the back of his brain. That's when he went into a heart attack. Hey, finally the third one taken care of he was walking around with the third 1 in his head.
@Crescenciowashisname-o I'm not a queen and I dropped no crown - if it not for the True and Living God - it wouldn't have mattered what ANY medical science did I would have not survived it - I was completely helpless - He told me Himself ' Many you were just in- waiting - I want you to bed here...' while I was sitting in a wheelchair being prepped to learn to walk again- to say the least of it EXCEPT what God the Creator SPOKE
Concerning the bathtub... Wasn't there a man during the era of the French Revolution that basically lived in the tub? I can pronounce his name, but will likely misspell it - Moreau.
