If you want to quit coffee, switch to half caffeine coffee. After a week, reduce the amount of half caff for another week before quitting all together. This will avoid the worse withdraw symptoms.

I quit caffeine 3 weeks ago. My anxiety has lessened, I sleep more and am able to wake up earlier and without feeling awful. I stand by quitting caffeine and the good thing about it is there are a lot of caffeine free products. (update: I haven't had caffeine in 9 months, still worth it) (Update 2023: I Hadn't had caffeine for over a year until I started a new job and started drinking it again, I quit again and It has improved everything yet again) (Update 2024: Caffeine free for 3 years and now back on it. Got promoted in my job and went full time. Started drinking caffeine heavily again. It helps with managing through the day but I find my sleep is suffering along with my mood. Should I quit again?)

Amen brother! Best decision I made was to quit. I feel so much better in mind and in body I am more productive, energetic and feel rested. My sleep has improved tremendously and I wake up feeling energised and ready to tackle the day. My work productivity has dramatically increased. My mind clarity is like never before. I feel calm, relaxed and happier in general. I highly recommend anyone reading this to take the plunge and quit caffeine and see how it goes. I can almost guarantee you will have the same reaction as I have and will make a positive decision of quitting this drug. Ps. I do still consume cacao which I believe has some trace elements of caffeine in it, but nowhere near what Coffee has and I still feel amazing whilst enjoying chocolate.😋😋😋

@@OSS976 Not a good idea for several reasons. 1. All decaf will do is make you wanna drink regular coffee might as well kick the habit and learn to live without drinking it. 2. Decaf has a very, very small amount of caffeine in it. Not enough to notice, but why would you put your brain through that? 3. I went eight weeks with headaches before they subsided, but you are not me and likely won't suffer so long. I'm on day 2 of cold turkey. Yesterdays headache was pretty rough. Had me in bed basically the entire time. I'm shocked now on day 2 how bad my body feels in general. Feels like I have the flu. I'm also fasting, only drinking water and herbal tea, no caffine or sugar. So i'm sure that contributes a bit. I planned on cold turkeying my marijuana consumption as well but given the headaches/body aches I caved. Maybe once I'm passed these caffine withdrawls and done with the fast I'll trying stopping the marijuana. Idk folks i'm pretty alarmed at how physically dependant I am on caffine. I've struggled with other drug addictions in the past, but those were "bad" drugs right? After withdrawl symptoms this bad i'm tempted to lump caffine in with the other "bad" drugs.

I quit drinking coffee 3 years ago. It was mostly vanity at the time because I had broken my leg and arm and was in a acute care center and hated to have to ask for my diaper to be changed. Coffee is a diuretic. What I wasn't prepared for is how much better I slept, and how much less I peed. It's an insidious drug though because I too went back and now I'm having to go through withdrawal again.

I HAVE to stop. I might have pre-glaucoma and several other symptoms of too much caffeine. One thing I remember that helped some, was taking one excedrin (it has caffeine) each day for a few days and that helped with the massive headaches. I gotta look for a pre-workout without caffeine. Felt like I was wired on caffeine for years and my body and brain, particularly my pineal gland needed the rest to catch back up. After the first month, it is great, no caffeine crashes, much calmer mood and steady. My focus is not anywhere near what it was, especially in the gym, I day dream a lot still but it isn't a bad thing, it is just different, I'd say more creative or artistic value in my mind instead of physical productivity. This is exciting, I've quit before when I found I got TOO addicted, but would get back into it then simply reduce, but last time I quit, I had zero withdrawals and simply figured, 'see I wasn't addicted anyway,' and got back into moderate habit. I've not been able to shake my mild blood pressure rise so decided to commit to stopping this drug and hopefully also fix my light sleep/early awakening. I weened off appropriately it seems. No headaches or mood, but it was a struggle a couple times, then I went to donate blood last week and my non-medicated bp was excellent, confirming to stick out my intervention. Then today I needed that midday boost so decided to search the web and found more 'benefits to coffee,' like aging, Alzheimer's and health. Fortunately, I'm suspicious and figured the study was sponsored by Big Coffee. Meanwhile, this video portrays the phases and encourages my marching on. Just say no.

I didn’t know what was wrong with me at the time and I was taking Tylenol every moment I could. I then realized i wasn’t consuming the same amount of caffeine daily. My symptoms lasted about 12 days. I haven’t had a redbull in well over 2 months. The only caffeine I have is one cup of coffee and very morning and I feel great.

I tried to quit coffee for 2 weeks, but nothing really changes. I'm not a heavy coffee drinker, 1-2 cups per day. Probably 2 coffee per day bring me some anxiety, but on the other hand, with coffee my concentration is better. I think everything is in moderation. Coffee has some benefits for our health.

PSA: At 4:18 - 4:22 in this video, the voiceover states that caffeine can reduce blood flow to the brain by 27% (which would mean only 73% of normal blood flow remains). The infographic played alongside this is a bar labeled "blood flow to the brain" draining from 100% to 27%, incorrectly implying the opposite of these numbers: 73% reduction and 27% remaining. On a side note, directly after this statement the video points out that quitting caffeine will reverse this effect (showing a 27% increase in blood flow) but percentages don't work like this. For an easy explanation of this, imagine you have 100 apples. If you lose 50% of these apples you'll be left with 50 apples. Then if your apple stocks increase by 50% afterwards, they will go up to 75, not 100.

I quit drinking coffee after I had surgery recently. I was having heart palpitations which weren’t serious, but why should I deal with them? I also think my acid reflux has improved since I stopped. That caffeine withdrawal headache is no joke! I’m replacing coffee with herbal teas that don’t have caffeine. 🙂

I gave up coffee and I am glad I did. No more heart palpitations or anxiety. Maintaining a health weight because no more cream or sugar being added. Another benefit is Time no more wasting time making the coffee. I love all the money I have saved too. Eating healthy along with stopping coffee has naturally increased my energy levels and I feel more calm

I agree with you the only weight gain of coffee though is the sugar and creamers as you said however, it does make me really anxious which is why I can’t drink it but in naturally tastes bad which is why people use sugars

Ia have been drinking coffee for many years. I have managed to quit it two times, each tine having bad pain and withdrawal symptoms. I have stayed without any caffeine for months, but the thing is, that I am not an active, energetic type of person. I tend to be lazy and to procrastinate. Even after montha of no caffeine I remained kind if sluggish and needed multiple naps per day,although I work out almost every day and eat good food with vegetables and fruits. So in the end I estimated that coffee outweighs the cons and provide more benefits to me. This is why I started consuming caffeine for a third time in my life. TL:DR I totally agree for a person to test a no caffeine period in their life and to decide how it impacts it.

I've been addicted to coffee/ caffeine since I was a young child. I've grown up drinking minimum 3 cups a day, recently increasing to much more. When circumstances arise that prevent me from drinking caffeine, it can go up to a week and I have withdrawals as described in this video. I just get tired and miss the smell and taste

Thanks for this video. It actually inspired me and I gave up caffeine 11 or so days ago now. I can't remember a time I wasn't drinking coffee or at the very least, soda, in a day and I really wanted to feel how my body feels naturally without it, so here I am!

How is your life now?
@Tstdamo1
@Tstdamo1 Год назад
@@Smattyy It was an interesting ride for sure. So, I stayed off caffeine for about 2 months. More than enough time to "reap the rewards" so to speak. What I noticed was this - I did not really feel all that more energetic and I don't believe that my sleep cycles were any better than normal. Despite this, I did feel overall less foggy, which was interesting. I did notice my teeth start to whiten back up for sure. I did not notice changes really in blood pressure or heart rate. The most interesting realization was this though - I have Tourette Syndrome and my tics got way worse off of caffeine. It was super noticeable and uncomfortable. I generally have a pretty minor case so flare ups are pretty prominent for me. I did end up going back on caffeine after all was said and done, and lo and behold, my tics subsided. I decided after all of it that I'm actually just happier with caffeine in moderation and choose to consume it.
@Smattyy

@@Tstdamo1 Interesting. Thanks for sharing. My story is acctually somewhat the same except the tourettes. But I have some eye tics. I’ve been off caffeine/coffee for about 2 years but realized that I felt better on it, limited use. I wish you a happy life 😊
@Tstdamo1
@Tstdamo1 Год назад
@@Smattyy Oh yeah. So, forgot to mention that too. I did have an eye twitch (NOT Tourette related) and it DID go away when I stopped. Totally back now, so that's definitely a downside to me being back on caffeine. And I hope you have a happy life too! Thanks for this interaction that shows me that RU-vid comments don't always have to be a dumpster fire. A little faith in humanity restored here for me.

I was on coffee for 30 years. Then last summer discovered by blood pressure was lethally hypertensive (like ‘why hasn’t your head exploded’ level). One of the first things to stop was my caffeine intake. Thankfully the heart med I was taking actually prevented withdrawals. I just do decaf now, although I jacked up the amount of coffee grounds so it still tastes like regular.

I started drinking coffee over a year ago, in my mid-twenties. But I'm not addicted to it. When I'm sick, or when I had ongoing dental works, I stopped drinking it for days/weeks and noticed no difference. I think I somehow associate it with the workplace now and I often don't drink any during weekends. I sometimes drink it at very late hours and then just sleep. In all fairness, I don't drink huge amounts, and I'm glad I recently stopped adding sugar. I'd say I could give it up anytime. 🤷‍♀️

Coffee is ingrained into every community known to man, like the health community, the minimalist community, the student community etc. It's in consumerism, in every supermarket and home goods store, on a mug with a sign saying 'I am not me before coffee' or slogan cushions. There are more coffee places in just one city to chose from than we could visit in a year.

Forget the video, it's really awfully researched. So many untrue statements were made, it's just not worth watching it FWIW caffeine addiction liability is considered to be low to none, while moderate dependence liability. The 2 are not the same

I don't think I have a caffeine addiction..I don't really rely on it like a lot of people do. I get Starbucks every once in a while, maybe twice a week at most, I even only have one energy drink a week. Not gonna lie, it's kinda nice having that privilege but for those who are quitting and finding it difficult...You got this and you're doing great!
