Doctors say rapid weight loss can cause a decline in muscle mass, a major factor when it comes to keeping the weight off, and may recommend strength training and protein consumption plans.

It's the same with diets, you gain it all back. You must make a lifestyle change or it's a waste of time.

I agree. It seems people who only rely on not feeling hungry from the drug seem to regain quickly. But if you were able to continue working out and eating healthy, hard better at maintainingZ it was just a tool to help get them there.

I got off semaglutide 11 months ago, at 127 lbs. Since then, I’ve gone down further to 120 lbs with diet and exercise, and held steady at this weight, fluctuating 1 or 2 lbs up during the holidays, but always easily get back to 120 lbs. I would not have lost the 30lbs initially, without semaglutide. Lord knows I tried for years. I credit the medication for getting me on the path… once I started to lose the weight, I started to feel good. It’s been easy maintaining my healthy eating habits and exercise… I know what fat feels like. Glamorize being fat all you want… I know for me, it SUCKED EVERY SINGLE DAY. And I’m NEVER GOING BACK, period.

I am currently on a 12 week session of Semaglutide. I have been doing walking workouts and dumbell exercises from home. I had no control when it came to binging on sweet snacks. Also, being on anti-depressants made it hard to lose weight and have cravings. Now I'm not craving it at all. I hope I can still have control over these cravings once I am off of the drug.

@Honey-ny3zq Hey. It is going well. I stopped taking the Ozempic after 5 months, so I stopped in November. My weight went from 185 to 151. A few weeks after stopping my appetite came rushing back with a vengence but then seemed to level out a bit after a few months. Now my weight fluctuates between 153-157. I still would like to lose about 10lbs on my own, but I am not working out like I should. And I still struggle with eating right consistently. But I am having a bit more self-control so that I won't put the weight back on.

I lost 100 lbs with keto, and an extra 40 with a semaglutide. I was eating 1300 cals and still not losing for some reason. Yes, I weigh my food and everything, but it wouldn't budge. Now I'm at my goal weight and my body composition is optimal with my weightlifting and cardio. People have been taking peptides for a long time before they got popular, there's nothing wrong with them and no problem with doing multiple things. The only people who speak critically about them are people that don't understand them. People who are very healthy use multiple peptides. That being said, I wouldn't recommend semaglutide for people who don't change their habits. Going through lifestyle changes and keto first ensured my success.

Exactly. People having extreme weight loss with these diet pills are likely not eating enough calories and will be impossible to survive on post diet pills. I just started phentermine and was told it was for a month to allow myself to learn to eat a healthy amount and to learn proper portions and maybe my stomach size would decrease in the process which could lead to being able to eat less once I stop them in a month. My dr does not prescribe them for more than a month as she doesn’t believe it to be a magic solution just a helper

Not quite. I'm a big believer in losing weight the natural way - I lost 100 pounds the old-fashioned way - but weight loss medications and surgeries offer success to people by being faster than the traditional way. Many overeaters, myself included, suffer from stress and depression and it's hard for us to stay motivated and remain on a diet/exercise regime. Also, basic exercise is much harder when you've got 50+ lbs already on your frame. The faster you lose some of that weight, the easier it is to work out and make it a regular habit. Often, trainers, many of whom have never been overweight and don't know the physical struggle, don't offer much sympathy for the physical pain that being overweight causes your body during exercise. Just like how some alcoholics benefit from antabuse, some overeaters benefit from this injection. If you make it to your goal weight and maintain it, that's the win. No one's getting there the same way and no one way is superior. If you're healthy and happy, that's all you need.

So your going to take the pill, lose weight, quit taking the pill and then because you haven’t dealt with the root cause, you gain it back … just because you are afraid to do the work, both emotionally, mentally and physically. Seriously, WTF is the point, other than wasting money and taking the medication away from the people who actually have a medical condition and need this drug.

If you have lower weight it is a lot easier to get started on exercise. And if you "starve" yourself to weightloss, the body will try to regain ALL the lost weight plus some more. If you "starve" your body will believe that it needs large energy reserves, because food is in short supply. So as soon as the body gets access to food it will use this scarce resource for its max potential.

What we see is that when people do not make the needed changes for long term success they end up thinner and MORE metabolically unhealthy. This medication class isn’t for 10-15 lbs of weight loss. It causes an average of 18% tbw in anyone that takes this. If you are obese or morbidly obese then these meds are likely for life, doesn’t mean a weekly shot at a high dose, but maybe a monthly dose to maintain effects at the lowest dose. It needs to be medically supervised and tracked.

I agree, I don’t think it’s best if used by people who need to lose 10 or 20 pounds and have the ability to keep their metabolism up through exercise. I’m considering Ozempic and in my case I eat a whole food, diet, Mediterranean style, two meals a day with 16 hours in between. (I Idon’t eat after 6 o’clock and I don’t eat before 11 )I’m not necessarily an over eater I use portion control with my size of plate I avoid excess carbs I don’t drink juice I don’t drink milk and I do not take sugar in my tea or coffee and have had my diet cleared by a dietician. But what I do have is chronic pain which literally keeps me from most types of exercising that would be conducive to losing weight so that’s created a metabolic syndrome, and the only success I’ve ever had through diet and losing weight, is an extremely low carbohydrate (25 or less carbs of the day) ketogenic diet, but it is unsustainable or at the very least, very difficult. My problem is metabolic and hormonally based so literally only a hormone could possibly fix it. And the hope is that once I’ve lost this 30lbs I will find it easier to move and have a higher chance of keeping that weight in balance.

So, as my weight lowers, my diet/fitness regimen reflects a new reality that fits my weight. The thing with this drug, people dont necessarily develop the new reality, at lesst not in a natural way where it becomes a part of your lifestyle.

That’s why people need to learn healthy eating habits & proper weight training. It’s calories in versus calories out, being on a caloric deficit you will lose weight, a long with training 3-4 days a week and cardio 2-3 days a week. Does t need to be crazy 30min walk outside or on a treadmill regular pace. Less is actually more, not the opposite way around. Once you get to goal wait change keep macros the same to stay at maintenance weight, then you won’t lose more weight. Or to gain more muscle/ bulk add only about 200cals more. If people would do their research they’ll learn they don’t need to take those medicines, unless you’re extremely obese. but even people that are extremely obese. I’ve seen do all of this and achieve their goal body. It’s always best to loss 1-2 lbs a week, protein is key 1 ounce of protein per pound of bodyweight, and tracking your macros. people can use chromometer and other sites to figure out how many calories I need to lose weight or to gain muscle or to stay in the maintenance

I lost 100 lbs with keto, then an extra 40 with a semaglutide. And if you don't keep up with your nutrition on semaglutide, the effects of malnutrition and vitamin deficiency will begin to show.

@@garystinten9339 I think in a perfect world that'd be great, but I don't think only one dr should prescribe it, bc that would defeat the whole purpose of a free market economy (also a monopoly will always result in overcharging). There's ONLY a shortage now bc of the company that decided to patent it and they're doing their best to prevent everyone else from manufacturing it. Overall I'm against policing in medical practices; unfortunately people don't make healthy decisions and relying on a peptide instead of healthy habits will always be a bad decision. One thing I've learned is very few people are serious about their diets and don't have proper education on nutrition. I do think you're on to something that drs need to stop giving it out like candy. It's a shame how many drs are pushing it just to get a commission off of patients. Some people need to learn better habits first. This healthcare system is something else.
