A clear exposition of the effects that should enable anyone to begin to grasp how manipulation of variables can refine the end result. The time you go to thinking up and producing instructive videos puts you in the "most valuable" class of you tube assets for film photographers. May you never tire of instructing! Regards, Paul Gough.

It is interesting how all three were useable negatives. I'd be curious to see how stand development compared to those negatives.

lower contrast negative, therefore you would need higher contrast paper.

Here is a question: I am into scuba diving and photography, I have a few Nikonos and Sea & Sea cameras. C-41 films usually gives me good results but B&W gives me extremely flat contrast sins all colours are muted under water etc. (I do use a flash). In short I am in a low contrast and low light environment. Anny tips on how to expose and develop to build more contrast (getting harder negatives)? I use mainly ID-11 / D-76 at 1+3. One thought would have been to shoot Tri-X 400 at 200ISO and develop as a 800ISO film, but that would be “overexpose and overdevelop” and according to some would result in flatter contest. So again any hints, tips or tricks?

Thank you very much for this video! I can't have enough of the darkroom content. I have a question: would you recommend changing your agitation pattern to increase the contrast? Or would it be better to just increase the time? After shooting in very low contrast scenes during winter I tried agitating every 30 seconds instead of a minute, keeping the developing time the same. I believe it helped, but I am not sure if it's adviced. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. I am seeking deeper blacks and whiter whites. My negs and prints are often flat. So I should under dev and boos printing contrast?

It sounds like you are already under developing. If boosting the contrast doesn’t work, develop the film longer next time

This is really interesting and helpful but isn’t it just sort of stumbling into the zone system?
