HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN 8 STRING BASS ONLY HAS HIGH OCTAVE STRINGS
In my multiple stringed bass journey, I have had many ideas that have let me express my love for guitar and bass at the same time.
The sonic possibilities for me always take me to a kind of Trance land of musical soundscapes that really help me create that other side of music I love.
Meet the LAR80
I wish you guys an awesome day you totally rock M

Recall when Stanley Clarke did this experiment almost fifty years ago. Refered to it as a piccolo bass. A standard bass tuned an octave higher. His first one was made my Carl Thompson. Two octave bass. In this case, he tuned it like a cello, which are tuned in fifths. For the electronics, it had a pickup from an old Harmony guitar (what was available back then). Stanley ran it through a Maestro electronic box some sax players (Eddie Harris) used to make it sound an octave lower. Gave it a thin, fuzzy tone. Stanley used this on "Concerto for Jazz/Rock Orchestra" from his album, Journey To Love.

Ok, now I get you. I knew there was something kindred about you. I was a guitar player first and was taught the bass to understand the interaction between the two. Now I play both and can write on either. So, to me, to hear a rhythm guitar part on a bass is like "Sure. Why not?" A challenge would how to track the normal 8 string bass part with this and not step on each others toes. Just a thought for the MOMO master class.

@@themomozone Thanks man! I wonder what would happen if you added an octave pedal to the mix... like a POG or Boss 0C5?? Could be a massive sound similar to what Mike Kerr from Royal Blood is doing... but different at the same time!! I'd love to hear it! 🙏

@@themomozone sorry if I came across as if I was being snide or denigrating you loved the video the bass tone and the way you played rhythm guitar on a bass reminded me a lot of their bassist/singer Peter Steele and the way he played and wrote I’m sure they’d give you some great inspiration!
