It's always a good laugh watching climbers try and pretend to be overly competitive The moment someone's on the wall instinct kicks in and you start yelling encouragement 😅
Video idea for Catalyst - give Louis a fake mustache and a purple hat with an P on it and call him Pouie Larkinson. Make him coach amateur climbers in the exact opposite style of Louie. He tries to encourage a pessimistic mindset, implies that everyone is failing boulders because they're not strong enough, brags about his own skills constantly. As people are climbing he shouts discouraging remarks and sprays really bad beta. I think it would be hilarious lol.
@@deanraney1049Not that bad of an idea for pranking someone that they know but if it was stranger then it’s really not that funny to just straight up wasting their time.
Orin said there are two things that are going to happen today .... then proceeded to name three things. An opportunity briefly lost to point this out. But then remembering Louis's counting/miss-counting ability 😀
Woohoo! I am a blurry shape in the background my first time seeing Louis in person, and at my local! Big shout out to Big Rock climbing Milton Keynes! Louis, you are legend and I've learned so much from catalyst vids so many thanks, and to keep things even Orrin's top of boulder 2 was EPIC!
Orin and Louis are so fun to watch, their dynamic in this video was hilarious ❤ Great job to both of you, who are way better and stronger and handsomer climbers than I’ll ever be lol
Kind of a shame they didn't get a better route setter, because I think everyone was aware that he kinda messed up in this comp, including himself. There's a reason he ran over to give a hug after the first top, because if no one had gotten it things would become even more embarrassing for him. The problems looked fun, but just way too hard.
Outside of the first one, the other two seemed of a good hardness, Louis got to the zone of the second boulder (and was close to topping it) and Orin almost did, and vice versa concerning the top for the third. I don't think it's fair to say they should've gotten a better route setter, this is basically what happens at the Olympic level as well, some top, some only get the zone, and rarely some don't get the zone...
I was wondering if you could make a video on why a lot of professional climbers "retire" so young or is it just comps are grueling ways to make money and after a while if you have another option you'll likely take it?
Brilliant to watch this and saw myself as a blurry shape right at the end of the vid! Great to see you both down there and get a photo with BOTH of you!! 😂
The trash talk is absolutely hilarious in this one - dare I say the Orrin-Louis rivalry is the biggest thing in UK bouldering since Ben Moon discovering the sport for training
I guess this proofs again that the ability to read boulders well and find the correct body positions fast is what makes a good comp climber. I'd really like to see Louis climb these problems again, but finish them
i think that orrin is stronger than louis but louis is a better climber strenth isnt everything in climbing and louis is way more efficient on the wall, is better at route reading and just has better technique, louis is more precise with his hand and foot movements and doesn't readjust them for example on the red climb where they did the comparison louis only readjusted his hand THREE TIMES but orrin readjusted his hand TEN TIMES louis spent way less time on the wall and was very efficient with his movement only doing moves he needed to while orrin spent a long time on the wall and was not very effitiont doing lots of unnecessary things in climbing people often put strength over technique but thats simply not true, good technique is way more important than technique and because of this i will argue louis is a better climber than orrin
Louis might have been joking there. Also competion grading is different, cause you can have a V5 slab that none of them will climb until they learn the correct beta, at which point it feels like V3. They often try to make the boulders puzzles that you have to solve, and if you don't solve it correctly it will feel much much harder.
