I have heard, if there is a will, there is a lawyer.

Roll with it. Yep. When my husband's friend died the burial was in another town. It was a biker funeral and since ours wasn't running, we took the back roads. We waited. And waited. We even went to the tavern where the reception was. Then back to the cemetery. Andcwaited. Eventually a pick up truck arrived with two guys in the back and the casket bungie cirded in. The axle snapped on the brand new hearse. On the Avenue of the Saints. The fineralbdurectir was mortified. Those of us who obew him laughed. It was perfect. He was more of a pickup truck kind of guy rather than a limousine kind of guy anyway.

Comic relief. A sign. Dealing with an awkward situation. Life!

The power went out a few times during my father's visitation. Luckily it was very brief, yet it was so cool and kind of fulfilled that nightmare we all have about being alone in the dark in the funeral home. That was 11 years ago, but it still makes me smile that we made another memory with dad, even though it was at his funeral.

Depending on where you are, the weather can be unpredictable, normally services held during the day, but backup power is needed for the refrigeration of the deceased and to comply with applicable laws/ordinances.

Like you said where there's a will ... look at what you have & arrange,borrow etc. Smile & you get through. 🙂

Wherever I've worked there were back-up generators for events like this. If I were in a situation where there was a power outage, I'd have to push forward. I've never used a gravity jar although I've learned about it in mortuary college. The old saying "the show must go on" also applies to the FH industry.

You're videos answer a lot of questions I had and even answers questions I hadn't thought of yet but would soon be wanting to ask. I would like to visit with a local funeral director and ask how Hurricane Irma and Ian affected the funeral home's abilities to function and what extra efforts and inconveniences they went thru. What adjustments they had to make to keep serving the familes that had arrangements made and helping with final arrangements during the power outages that lasted for weeks. Most roads were closed for days. I lived in Fort Myers, Florida during Irma and Buckingham, Florida during Ian. I watched both hurricane's from my driveway. Being a certified storm spotter, I'm used to Tornadoes but watching a hurricane is more like chasing a 🐌 Snail. I'm sure so much takes place that Funeral Directors do I wouldn't know where to start.

Makes sense. I personally would never run off of a car battery. I would have to have several of them linked together and then invert the power into AC rather than DC when all my pro media gear goes into the field.

Hey Kari, i wanted to say thank you for your videos and your peace. My 2nd husband who was only 52 years old died a few days ago in bed and the police and judge had to come out since we didn't live in the city. We are waiting on the coroner to let us know what the COD was and take him to the funeral for the cremation. Im hoping the funeral/cremation will allow me to see him one last time and allow me to preas the button but I don't know what the rules are.
@thaimays6933
@thaimays6933 Месяц назад
Yes the funeral home will let you see him one last time and also yes you can also participate in The cremation you just have to have certain papers signed she has a video on that

Your modernized Funeral Homes today have those Emergency Generators to keep the lights on and the air conditioning flowing. It's just good business anymore and there's tax incentives too.

I'm so sorry, K, but if the power goes out, and it's late, and I'm working alone, I'll just come back when the power is restored.
