People are likely watching the Marvel Shang-Chi trailer, or the Jake Paul fight, or Drag Race like us WITH THE MUNCHIES THESE DAYS! I have been thinking about the neurophysiology of quitting weed since being stuck at home, it's more of a habit. It turns out the brain changes a lot with weed, also there physiological symptoms I didn't know before, and all the science is not cutting edge. This video goes through the scientific evidence of how your body changes after consuming weed.

I'm on my last joint, it's midnight and I'm going to sleep next. I'll make a small summary: I'm 22 years old, I've been smoking for 2/3 years, basically every day. I started smoking when I was heartbroken, I feel like my life has become numb, cloudy, I think I'm addicted, when I smoke I like the effects but deep down i know it's pulling me down, I wanted to avoid my emotions and reserved myself, I became antisocial. I want to quit because i want to change my life! I have goals that I want to achieve! I need a wake up call. I would appreciate it if you like :)

Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your wife decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.

Been smoking heavily for around 7 years or so non-stop. Totally clean for 8 months now. And this is literally the BEST decision that I've ever made in my entire life. You have no idea how good I feel. I feel like Superman compared to how I felt like a year ago. It's worth a try. Trust me. You don't need weed or any other substances to feel good. Quit it now and feel the real life. It's difficult and tough, but it's worth it.

So strong that you decided to live differently among all the people that have been victims of addiction for almost all their lives. Remember why you started this path from the beginning and never let yourself go back because you decided to change, and if you go back, you've only lied to yourself. As soon as i stopped smoking, I started to feel like you mentioned, but i did these things, and it really helped my symptoms fade away : 1. going to the gym regularly and staying disciplined [very important because you need to help your body detox faster to feel less symptoms] 2. Take regular hot showers every day and do some stretching exercises under the shower 3. Try to stay hydrated and use plenty of nutritional and clear drinks like water , natural fruit juice, and... 4. Use a lot of vitamins. You can eat plenty of fruits or get daily vitamin pills or even vitamin ampoules every 2 weeks (it's better to talk to a dr before doing so) I've heard cranberry tea or juice is good You have to Replenish lost potassium and vitamins because of excessive sweating with : melons bananas, citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes ... 5. Avoide Fat, caffeine and alcohol as much as possible 6. a glass of warm milk before bedtime works for insomnia 7. Exercise! Exercise! Exercise! 8. Try to avoide anything related to weed such as smoker friends, social media pages and especially places that you used to smoke in. Avoide them all for a while. And instead get to know and hangout with new and specially healthy people. Go to new places and do new things. Go on vacations and experience new things. 9. Take meditation and working out seriously as it helps with your mentality 10. Alternatively, consulting a specialist like a psychologist or a therapist could be beneficial and worthwhile

I literally am going through this now. I don't think I'd ever gone more than 24 hours in the last 15 years without THC. I would get insane dreams just by cutting back. I just felt I needed to see what life was like without it. I'm at the point where I go several days at a time without any at all, and I feel so much better. Every morning I feel so comfortable and rested which I literally NEVER felt in over a decade. The intense disturbing dreams no longer happen and I stopped sweating profusely, but man those are some awful symptoms. One thing that helped a lot was exercise. Keeping myself exhausted from exercise really helped keep the cravings down.

@@veronicabool2350 Yes that's what happens at first, dreams are subdued. But once your body gets accustomed to daily consumption for over a decade it compensates and it's very unpleasant. Trust me. Just keep doing it in moderation and you'll be ok. I can consume small amounts now without issue, it was the 10+ times a day for 15 or so years that ended up really causing me problems. It took me a while to figure out what it was because I assumed it couldn't be the weed.

Thank you!! I’m on day 16 🎉I gotta say the thing that helped me immensely was that I was on a road trip when I decided to stop smoking. If I’m honest I didn’t actually decide on that it just sort of happened. I was distracted, busy and tired from my adventurous days. The first few nights were definitely testing when it came to sleeping, I was overheating and restless. I’ve been smoking basically everyday since I was about 13, now 25 …. My poor brain. So far I haven’t actually craved it at all! Heck yeah! It’s not so much that I care about never smoking again, I just want to simmer down, not rely on it, be able to handle my emotions without the substance. Many thanks for explaining all this!

My 2nd video of this site, and again I am very impressed with the content being presented. As a lifelong user of over 40 years, I am noticing changes in the way cannabis is affecting my body. I certainly can recognize from personal experience exactly what happens when I try to quit. Which I have for various reasons over the years. I actually didn’t have any issues with stopping for several periods of time over the decades that I have used weed. Yet, since legalization here in Michigan, being retired and no reason to limit my usage, I have smoked daily for over 3 years now. Also, a huge difference between then and now is the potency of the weed produced today. When I started smoking in the mid seventies, an oz would come from Mexico and have a significant amount of seeds that we would gleefully throw along the highways of the Great Lake State. Anyway, I am down to the last bowl before I attempt to make a break from smoking for a bit. The part about crazy dreams once the cannabis starts leaving the body is absolutely true, but I always found recalling my dreams again as a very positive thing. It’s like a veil being lifted. Again, thanks for the fabulous video, you are my kind of guy. 🍻🌈

@@sopharchan2022because my brain is no longer dependent on a drug in order to produce the necessary chemicals to live well. Sorry if it seems scary, but coming from experience, if you’re a chronic smoker that’s smoking daily (or like I was, losing count of how many times a day I would toke) you brain/body is dependent on weed in order to properly function and feel normal. The easiest way to know if you have any level of dependence is if you develop a tolerance and have to smoke more and more to get your desired high. Dependence happens because the brain stops producing its own endocannabinoid neurotransmitters because it receives them from weed. Your endocannabinoid neurotransmitters send signals through your body via nerve cells and help with various bodily functions.

I smoke daily and if it wasn't for the cough, I don't think I'd contemplate stopping. I gave up booze a long time ago because it WAS a negative in my life.

I've smoked weed since 16 and I'm now 28, excessively in my later years. Let me tell you, its effected my cognitive ability. My short term memory is absolutely shot, it's been proven that it can take upto 2 years of healthy diet and sleep to return your hypocampus to normal size after prolonged cannabis exposure. So for those who've quit and don't feel like "themselves" after 28 days. Don't worry, it's a slow process of healing and you'll get there. Stay strong.

For the first time in 5 years, I have been weed-free for 20 days straight. It got to a point where I wasn't getting high no matter how much I smoked and my dependence on it led me to forget about all the other important things in my life. The first week was hard, especially the headaches and lack of dopamine. I did really enjoy the dreams though, some of them felt real. I don't think I'll stop forever, but I want to only use it in social settings. It was making me hate myself because it became the escape I desperately craved. More power to you if it helps you but for a lot of people, this is another addiction that can lead you to not prioritizing yourself, your physical and mental health.

I can confirm that quitting weed was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I know it sounds funny but the withdrawals were awful and even made me depressed for a while. I couldn’t eat without the feeling of throwing up after two bites of food. I grew accustomed to smoking weed 3 to 4 time a day 7 days a week and it became apart of my life for years. I couldn’t get high off of weed anymore and heavily using wax concentrates. I tried quitting many times but failed constantly until my wife gave birth to my first son and i made her a promise to stop because I didn’t want my son to see me like this in the future. Now in 3 months sober and I can say it was tough but worth it and I don’t see myself going back. I can finally eat normal again and find happiness in simple things like I did when I was a kid. It’s okay for people to use weed but it isn’t when you abuse it.

It can be tough, but if you quit, do it gradually. If you your weed is almost gone, and you don't know if you will be able to get some soon, use the last of it sparingly, gradually decreasing the amount you use and increase the time between use. Weaning and consistency is the key to quitting an addiction. Also, remember, moderation. You don't have to be high all day to enjoy it.

It's when we all sit down around a table and make a plan to make changes to the world with enough backup so that we don't get assassinated one by one. If you aren't expanding your knowledge of the world or sharing your wisdom then life is pretty much pointless. It's wisdom and knowledge that has got us here today. But with the lack of knowledge is why rich white people are now somehow making money selling weed legally to black folks. Isn't that funny? First they throw black folks in jail for it, and now they sell it lol... Come on now. Weed or no weed. WTF ARE WE EVEN DOING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It's great to finally not have to choose great job with benefits or enjoy life with your spirit plant. Mary Jane is a long term companion for many, and I hope you have no shame about your personal neurological patterns. Just because some people enjoy the forced thrust into life without any molecular neuromodulation doesn't mean they get to crush the spirits of those they refuse to accept as whole but into the literal magic of plant-assisted perspective shifting. Please enjoy whatever you do and also enjoy life after that should you decide to move on.

Was an every day smoker. Weed started making me more anxious...Like all of my short-comings and mistakes would shuffle through my brain like when you're laying in bed and suddenly feel like a failure. And the feeling of being high was overall unejoyable. I'd just get jittery and feel irresponsible and like I could be doing better things with my time but oh shit now I'm baked. 2 months clean and i feel so refreshed. And i'm dreaming regularly which has been awesome. Edit: im glad to see people are resonating with this comment. I like to stress that it's all about moderation. I was smoking 1-2x daily for a couple years before I started experiencing the anxiety mentioned. Sometimes you've just got to listen to your body and cut back, despite your brain being trained to pack a bowl. If weeds never done you wrong, toke the hell up! Wishing you all well!

@The Mark Soto Show I had the same thing, and I’m about a month and a half without doing it, my advice is just throw everything you have that will tempt you away and then only do it with your friends every once in a while, and start exercising regularly it’ll help you feel so much better

@The Mark Soto Show I was a daily smoker for 7 years, now (2021) i reduced a lot, didnt stop totally, cause i really enjoy the effects (happiness and relaxing). Generally i jump 1-2 weeks cleam and smoke only on weekends (like drinking beer or watching movie). That's the way i found to reduce damages. For me on the day 2 until 6 was the hardest moment, i started (as said in video) dream with weirds stuffs and little bit difficult to sleep, also anxious and bad mood. I think im closer now to some kind of balance, trying to extract the healthiest mode from Cannabis.
@idkvwad
@idkvwad 3 года назад
@The Mark Soto Show im glad I was able to resonate with you in some capacity. Don't get me wrong, I'm very tempted to smoke. If I didn't have a drug test coming up in a week I probably would. The trick for me seems to be taking longer breaks between smoking..viewing it more as a delicacy than a daily necessity. No need to sit at home baked when I could be cleaning or studying. Find a hobby, stick to it. Something i read on reddit which really stuck with me was whenever you have some dank and feel the urge to smoke but know it's probably just gonna make you feel lazy and regretful, remind yourself that you can smoke tomorrow. Say "meh, why smoke right now. I'll do that tomorrow". It gives you something to look forward to and eventually tomorrow becomes next week becomes next month and so on. Just throwing that out there. Made a huge difference for me. Hope it helps :)

29 year old. Been smoking daily for roughly 8 years now. Tried to quit a couple of times in between, but failed. The 'addiction' is fine throughout the day when I'm at work etc. But the moment I have some idle time, I end up on the devil's lettuce again. Watching this video, I now understand that it's the Novelty effect that makes boredom in my idle hours tolerable, and thus triggering cravings every time I'm idle. Personally for me, it's the temptation during idle hours, and the inability to fall asleep that really makes it hard. I'd lay in bed for hours and eventually just go take a bong hit to silence the thoughts so I can sleep lol. Today's day 1 of quitting (again lol). Well, I wouldn't call it quitting I guess. The goal is to go cold turkey for a month, and then re-introduce it into life and treat it how I do alcohol (every once in a while to blow off steam etc).

Something i've found to really help me as a chronic cananbis medical user is that your exercise and diet play a HUGE roll in how much cannabis effects you when you're sober. I used to not dream and would feel very groggy during the day with bad memory. After I started taking multi vitamins, omega3 pills/ eating fish, getting strength and cardio back into the mix, I started to dream again, remember more, feel more of the effects of cannabis, and have more energy when sober all while still taking in the same dosage or LESS. My theory is that a healthier body allows your cannabanoid receptors to recover faster as they have the resources to do so. If you have an unhealthy body your receptors will recover much slower and might not even recover at by the time you have your next dosage further complicating the issue. I highly advise anyone having issues with cannabis should start with their diet and activity level then work from there as it's an easier base to start at.

G’day guys, I’ve finally decided to cut the weed out after smoking almost every day since I was 17 years old, I am 26 now. I’m on day 7 and it’s been a roller coaster so far but I am already seeing huge improvements. I’ve always had potential to do great things but the minute things got hard I would smoke some weed and all of a sudden doing nothing wasn’t so bad. Enough is enough and it’s time to take ownership of my life and achieve things I’ve always wanted to do. These types of videos are really helping and giving me the extra motivation I need. I know things are only going to get harder but I have never been so determined to cut out this bad habit that has held me back for so many years, I’ve ruined relationships and friendships and missed out on great opportunities from my addiction and I’m now in a pretty good spot in my life and have an amazing support group around me that I do not want to loose. Thought I’d post this comment so I can come back on it every few months and remind myself on why I’m doing this. The journey is only just beginning but I’m excited for the challenge and what I will be able to achieve once I’ve finally kicked the addiction. We can do this guys, nothing great is ever going to be easy. Nick.

Very interesting episode. I am 57 years old, and up until about 4 years ago I had never used any cannabis in any form. As a boy growing up in the 70s, it was very common, however I found that I really did not like the smell of it. I then went to military college, was in the army, then went on to a career in federal law enforcement, so trying cannabis was not worth the risk of losing a very good paying job However, i was diagnosed with a very rare slow growing tumor in my neck, which grows about a millimeter or 2 a year and is growing inwards, pressing on my brain stem and spinal cord. Needless to say the pain can be extremely intense, and my doctors prescribed very large doses of opioids. Basically this turned me into a zombie, and I decided to stop taking them, along with the anxiety meds. I began learning different, non addicting, and non life altering ways to at least be able to function through the pain. Cannabis edibles became a way to help, especially when it came to getting sleep. (No matter which way I lay my head, I am putting pressure on the tumor and after about an hour, I would be awakened by excruciating head pain) Enter cannabis, I use it at night to help me sleep, and I remember how grateful I was the first night I tried it. I slept for 7 hours straight, something I hadn't done in years. Using it at night and other pain control techniques during the day, I have regained a measure of living again. I have also learned that I need to take a few days off to reset my system from building up tolerance, or using the cannabis tincture/infusion every other day. Compared to opioids and other pharmaceuticals, when I use cannabis I find that I wake up every morning feeling refreshed and with energy to face the day. I never have that hangover feeling that the prescription meds gave me. I still have pain, but it is now manageable. The tumor will grow, the pain will get worse, and one day it will kill me, but in the interim, using cannabis medically has been a gods send. And the nice warm, tingling buzz is what I call my bonus, lol.

@@neverendingweedh1784 apparently it was growing for some time. Because of it's placement it was hard to detect on scans. I kept getting really bad head pain, but the scans of my head were just a bit too high, and so the tumor wasn't discovered for about 2 years after I first started getting the headaches. It wasnt until the head pain worsened and i began loosing feeling and use of my left side that a new scan finally found it. I am truly fortunate it is not cancerous, and that in only grows by about 1 or so millimeters a year. But eventually it will get so big and rupture or something. I have become a very strong advocate of cannabis for medical treatment, especially for older people. I try and help them work through their pre-existing prejudices against it. When it's used properly it's very helpful for so many illnesses. And the little buzz is an added bonus. Lol. And it's way better than opioids.

And now he is experiancing thse withdrawls its really sad and scary watching him go through all this. Videos like this as well as experiances in the comment section gives me hope that he can get through this. Thankyou very much.

Did he get diagnosed anything or it’s just the withdrawal symptoms like panic attacks and some chest pain like heartburn that goes away after some time?

I noticed that with dispensary items like weed and edibles I would get heart palpitations. If I smoked or made the edibles myself with homegrown, no palpitations. There's definitely something to it that hasn't been studied enough.

Why would he need to quit smoking tho? Weed won’t hurt his heart
