Jaron, Kareem and Brandon are brothers, and Kansas City Missouri royalty. Even so, their paths weren't so similar, and for one, the outcome was devastating. Watch the Rush Brothers story now, and remember #dontrush

The Rush brothers are a success story. Coming from where they came from, two of the three having a career in the league is impressive. There is a lot more to this story, but it isn't my story to tell. Having played with them, I would say that Brandon was the best all around player. Jaron was the best pure Athlete and came up in an era where you could make a name off of having hops and dunking on people. He never had that great of hands. He didn't need to dribble and shoot much and everyone told him he was a god when he ripped the rim off so that is what he did. Kareem was smooth as silk, but not as explosive. Brandon had a lot of Jaron's bounce, better handles than his brothers and could shoot. Plus he played defense.

@@bolsbolbol368 for real ... I thought they didn't make it to the league but turns out TWO of the brothers were drafted first round. Brandon Rush even got a ring, and made more than 10 millions in his career. I'm not sure why this clip downplayed their success.

@troyj881
@troyj881 4 года назад
@@100mphFastball how can anyone say they screwed up? 2of em became millionaires nd da oldest brother most likely eventually reached a million from overseas money but at very least a few hundred thousand dollars so if thas considered screwing up I'll take that screwing up over so called success anyday. Ppl get it twisted cuz some players get ranked as tip 5 top 10 players in highschool ND predicted they'll become superstar in NBA like they were in highschool or some in college but when they get drafted or make NBA but don't become stars dat ppl thought dey say they failed or screwed/messed up. But how is becoming millionaires screwing up? Some players even was number 1 player in highschool but in NBA became a role player or journey man playing for like 8 teams but they played 15years as dat role player/journey man ND all those contracts over that 15year career totaled over 75million dollars but since he ain't averaged 20ppg or 15rpg he messed up lol. Dude got over 50million dollars in bank but considered a screw up 😂😂😂 I wish I was a screw up if that's definition of screw up. I even seen ppl call OJ Mayo a major screw up or bust cuz he play overseas now but dude made over 40 million in NBA nd get paid 3million per year on overseas team lol so how did he fail in the eyes of some ppl making barely 30 thousand dollars a year at? Nd thas not a jab at anyone who makes 30 or so thousand it's jus an example that how is anyone who went from family taking care of them or borderline poor barely making ends meet to becoming millionaire a failure jus cuz he ain't become a superstar NBA player lol makes no sense

I played against Jaron/Kareem and Pembroke Hill HS in 1998. Had 24pts against them...yet we got killed by 30. I guarded Jaron in the 1st half, he said after the game I played best D on him all year. Most of the damage in the 1st half was done by Kareem. 2nd half I switched onto Kareem and Jaron murdered us. I will never forget 2 x dunks he had against us. I have never seen in person someone dunk so viciously! And I say that having played college, pro-ball in Europe...Slovakian national team until 2011. Never saw anyone dunk so hard as Jaron! Very athletic, quick and surprisingly strong ( I felt it when boxing him out). Great memories!

Mad respect for Jaron and Kareem. I wish I could find a functioning VCR so I can watch highlights from that game on my VHS tape that i still have somewhere. 🐐..Kansas City basketball player. Was the best of 3 Rush Bros BY FAR! I Went to a High School in his Conf. Grain Valley. He was a Fr when I was a Sr. 1994-95. I remember going to Pembroke Hill in fall 94 watch JaRon as a Fr QB destroy us in Fball. Then that Feb 1995 went watch GV @ PH. He dropped 40pts. When he came Grain Valley for their gm? It was insane. Dropped 40pts again. Saw him leave in a Limousine. He was 15yrs old. The best Freshman in country. ×3 Missouri State Titles. McDonald's All American in 1998. Considered the best Sr High School basketball player in country that last yr in 1997-98.

I went to a Brooklyn Nets practice one time back in the day my boy used to work for the Brooklyn Nets and he let me in the practice facility and I sat in the corner and Kareem Rush was practicing and he was playing Two on Two and let me tell you this man took at least 25 shots just straight-up jumpers from elbow to elbow and my man hit all 25 effortlessly so later on in the game homie gets in the game an for like 3 minutes puts up 4 shots nothing but net they take him out at the end of the fourth quarter they put him in again for like 6 minutes or 7 Minutes boom homie took two more shots nothing but net again they take him out, so I think the status of inconsistency also hurt him as well with not getting a real chance..to show what they could have really done.

JaRon had so many CLOSE family members in his ear that 1997-98 High School Senior yr. He was THE BEST player in country. I followed hus HS career. Knew he was on track to cone my fav team, the Kansas Jayhawks. With now ×3 National Champion coach Roy Williams. I GURANTEE he just relaxed...been patient and came play under Roy Williams one or at most 2yrs? JaRon Rush would've made $125mill in NBA. JaRon f'ing threw it all away for now chump change throughout High School. JarRon(unfortunately the BEST by far of all 3 Rush Brothers? Was a cautionary tale. Which most likely helped his younger bros both make $multi-millions by each staying 3-4 yrs at Kansas & Mizz. I'm a Kansas Jayhawks fan of +35yrs? I liked that 2001-02 Missouri Tigers basketball team with Kareem. Mizz list Oklahoma in 2002 Elite8. Kareem Rush? Sweetest looking jumpshot imo in college basketball history. Def in Big8/BigXII history. Brandon Rush ended up being tp5 fav Jayhawk basketball player. Was a great scorer and lockdwn defender. Brandon locked dwn Kevin Durant the entire 2ndHalf vs Texas in 2007 BigXII Conf Tournament Final. Durant had dropped 21-24pts on KU b4 Halftime. Tex was up at one point 18ptd on KU in 1stHalf. Bill Self decided solely put BRush on Durant. Durant finished with just 4-6pts in 2ndHalf. KU won that gm and 07 BigXII Conf Tournament.

..then on course Brandon was KU's leader in 2007-08 Season. Kansas went (37-3.) Won 2008 National Title over Memphis But my fav all-time Kansas win was over North Carolina in the 2008 National Semi-Final. Rush destroyed UNC. That UBC team was incredible. Was the 2008 Overall #1seed. KU got up 28pts at one point late 1stHalf vs UNC. CVS announcers Billy Packer and other dude said.."it's over." After KU got up 28pts b4 Halftime. Lol..smh. I was so pissed at that comment.as a LONGTIME KU Basketball fan. I felt b4 that comment KU would win by maybe 8-11pts. I knew UNC would make run. They were all NBA future Players. Incredible team. Welp..they did more than that. UNC they 28pt deficit dwn to 16 by Halftime. Then literally BOOM! Dwn to just a 4pt KU lead with like 15mins left. SMH..I couldn't believe it. It was a whole new game again and most likely any team that sqauanders away a 28pts lead to just 4pt lead wit forever left in gm? Would mentally fold. Alot credit to Bill Self and the mental toughness of that Jayhawks squad. KU hung n...UNC? Lol..they had us! Plus had so many chances with ball still just dwn 4 but? Never did. KU ended up winning that crazy game by 18pts.

I saw Kareem play a Nebraska @ Mizzou game during his 21 ppg junior year when I was about 12 or 13. Mizzou won, but he had a very lackluster game... Something like 8 points and 4 rebounds. Rickey Paulding, on the other hand, lit it up that night. He (Paulding) would go on to completely upstage Dwayne Wade the next March in a loss to Marquette. I think he had like 36 points and 10 rebounds. He would be one to consider covering. But first, please cover classic college PGs Phil Ford & Steve Alford.

Jaron was the best of the 3 no I saw him at ucla unbelievable talent similar to Shea cotton in athletic ability and just should have been a lottery pick and ten years as a really good pro maturity was huge and Kareem was smooth could shoot but i just think he had so many different interests besides basketball but was a good pro too and I feel like Brandon was solid but smarter and more mature than his brothers because of their mistakes he learned

The oldest son's always take the greatest challenge in life, middle son's try too hard not to fail but because they focussing on not Failing, it hurts them..the last son has the greatest chance of excelling but only IF he is focus.

Young Rockie No matter how you tell Jaron's story, it's going to be viewed as shitting on him because of how HIS STORY played out. On the contrary man. I was rooting for Jaron even in hindsight. He seems like a genuine dude and I think he was the best brother just like moms said. Salute to a KC legend. 💯

It's a shame, really, because Jaron was the most talented brother in a family full of talented ballers. His younger brothers were nice, no doubt - but they just didn't have the same level of raw ability that Jaron did. And yet, it was Jaron who struggled to live up to his potential, while his younger brothers went on to have solid careers in the league.But here's the thing - Jaron Rush had an alcohol problem. And as we all know, when you're dealing with addiction issues, it can be damn near impossible to maintain the kind of commitment and discipline necessary to succeed as a professional athlete.At the end of the day, the Rush brothers were a talented group, no doubt about it. But Jaron's struggles serve as a reminder that even the most gifted athletes can fall victim to addiction and other issues that can derail their careers. It's a harsh reality, but it's one that we need to keep in mind as we celebrate the accomplishments of our favorite ballers.
