Sharing just because I've seen a few conflicting comments from both the creator and commenters: For IPL to work, it needs to come in contact with the melanin in the hair roots, which means that if you wax or epilate while doing IPL treatments you won't really see results, because their are no roots for the device to target. For best results, you should only shave while using IPL. Cheers!
@JJamiah
@JJamiah Год назад
Actually if you do it right after waxing, it we’ll work because the 🩸 blood will act as the needed pigment. I got IPL after waxing. I also asked the manufacturer themselves before hand.
@PinkKoalas
@PinkKoalas Год назад
@@JJamiahactually it has to be done after shaving because the laser has to cling onto the root of the hair. Waxing removes at a deeper level. Shaving is definitely best.

@@PinkKoalas IPL needs pigment/color to work. It’s able to do both if you do the IPL right after waxing. Shaving has a longer span. I’m just providing information for those who want to wax. I got IPL 8 years ago for a year and I’m still hairless. I also received laser and I have more hair growing from that than the IPL.

Very useful thanks! Hearing you talk about it I was a bit discouraged because it sounded like it is not permanent and you are still having to treat or shave. But for my needs, a permanent reduction in the density of growth and thickness of individual hairs sounds totally worth it. I already don't shave often (hairs are dark but pretty wispy) but I don't like the look of my ankles when they're full grown. Making the hair less dense will allow me to stop shaving completely

IPL or laser aren't permanent you need what they call touch ups its hair growth reduction not permanent hair removal. Hair comes back in finer. Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal but is time consuming. When you add it up better just to get electrolytes.
@dianal.1279
@dianal.1279 2 года назад
Yes. Electrolysis is the only permanent. But it is expensive and you need lots of treatments. It is worth it, for me, for facial hair. But to do the whole legs, that will cost a fortune and many, many years.
@johnblanco768

@@dianal.1279 That's true but I know Electrolytes technicians say in the long run it's better than constant Laser treatments. I know a certain machine can't say the machine but it's around $800 could be less now. it comes in a case and the first month you use it allot then after it's monthly then every 3 months. Not permanent but I know most people that get Diode Laser even have to go for maintenance sessions. My ex gf friend had severe cellulite problems on her thighs and buttocks. TY for an honest opinion. I love keeping mine smooth, just feels so much better...but do any of you find it easier to allow hair growth to occur then shave or obsessively shave when the tiniest bit becomes visible? Part of me when I do so myself feel its better to wait a few extra days...idk why that is though.

Before I started IPL, I had this same dilemma. I would usually shave every 3 days. My hair didn't grow exactly "fast," but if I went beyond three days without shaving, it would start feeling stubbly. If I went a week without shaving, it was definitely stubbly. 3 days between shaves was ideal for me. The important thing is just to use a good quality razor and lots of shaving creme/gel, because you get a much smoother shave that lasts longer that way.

It’s curious to me that they recommend using it every week or two. When I had this done professionally, they recommended appointments about every 8-10 weeks. Idea was that at regular intervals you’d catch hair follicles at the cell division point that was most effective to eliminate. It worked very well, albeit over the course of a year. And after 15 or so years I’m still very satisfied with the results. Of course weekly may catch hair cells at the correct point to eliminate them, but perhaps in the long run it may not be necessary for the longevity of the device or overall effectiveness. Weekly or two might also be a bit much for sensitive skin types, as burning hair follicles from the inside can be rough for a few days.

Well in beauty salon they are using laser ant it is much more powerful than Ipl light, that is why with this device you need to do the treatments more often ☺️

Pro lasers are stronger and use one specific wavelength of light. IPL uses a broader spectrum of light and is safe for use as frequently as once a week.

@jesh879

From what I've seen, Philips hasn't released a new model in years and years. Braun continues to offer new models constantly, and their older ones cost less money. I think this makes the most difference in the skin and hair tones the device works on, and how quickly the device recharges.

I think it specifies there the amount of flashes, but in general it’s like a light bulb, it has a lifespan 😊 I recon it says it will last you about 20 years, but since at the beginning I used it Wayyy more that the manual suggests, I assume I cut that time a bit 😄 but don’t worry it will still last you for a long time 😉
