been running alkaline batteries in all my cameras for the last 10 years. Never had one battery ever leak until I used an Exodus camera. The reason the batteries leaked is because they got wet(which is the main cause of alkaline batteries leaking). They got wet because the seal around the main housing was not put on properly, and was pinched. Eventually water started to leak into the battery compartment due to the bad seal. I know this because water would come out when removing the battery tray. They did not leak because they were bad batteries. I sent the camera in to get the seal fixed since the camera was still under warranty. They were nice enough to even give me a new battery tray since the last set of batteries stayed wet too long and caused some corrosion. They also left me a little note how I shouldn't use Alkaline batteries, and that was why there was corrosion in the battery tray. However when I went to use the camera again it won't accept any Memory card. It says that every memory card(Brand new ones too) is locked. I guess they were in such a hurry to tell me my choice in batteries was wrong they forgot to make sure my camera worked before they sent it back to me. Now I have a $200 paper weight. I still use Alkaline batteries in my Moultrie & stealcam cameras. Get well over a year of battery life out of all of them, and spent alot less money in them. some of camera's I have from 2012 are still running though rain, snow, hail, and sleet in mountains of PA with no problems of any kind. No leaking alkaline batteries, no water in the battery tray. I will not be sending my $200 paperweight back so I don't have to get little notes telling me what they think I did wrong when they can't fix it right themselves. I don't have time to be sending cameras back and forth. It's more cost effective to just go out, and buy a better camera for less money. There is nothing wrong with running Alkaline Batteries. Sure there are advantages to Lithium over Alkaline Batteries, but they can both fail. The cameras themselves are good when they work. I have camera's out 24/7/365, and need reliability, and that camera did not pass the test. Hopefully the new ones coming out are alot better. I just won't be spending my money on it.
I've trashed a couple stealth cams with alkalines. Seems like an easy solution to use lithium that perform better anyway. Even easier than being butthurt because someone told you that it's avoidable by using different batteries.
@@brodychapman8348 so if I had lithium batteries in my camera then water wouldn’t have leaked into my camera??? The messed up seal that kept water out wouldn’t have leaked if I had only used lithium batteries? Obviously you didn’t read my comment, and obviously you know nothing about batteries. Lithium batteries go bad also when wet so the outcome would have been the same. My issue is the fact that they took time to write a note about my battery choice being wrong(in their opinion), but didn’t take time to test my camera before they sent it back. I will never buy from them do to a customer service issue. Your comment is irrelevant and shows alot of ignorance. Best of luck to you this year
I just put brand new lithium batteries in my camera and it only showed two bars. During the process of setting up camera bars drop to red. Please explain what my issue is
Duracell in the last decade has totally gone to crap. Pick any other brand of battery...even though I recently pulled a set of Duracell batteries out from 2002 and they didnt leak. There just not the same battery any more. I think changing batteries is prob the most important camera maintenance out there.
By far the biggest issue we see!!! We talk to a lot of people every week and the vast majority of issues people have is related to alkaline batteries failing
