The funniest scene happened when Lion pinned down one of Chaos Space Marines(possibly warband leader, I am not sure on this one) demanding of him to take the curse, which made his moves so rusty. Chaos Marine had no idea what he is talking about, being additionally pissed that someone had defeated them without much effort, and is sayinng he done this while not at full strenght He demanded to know who is the person before him, so Lion removed his helmet and introduced himself. The Marine was first shocked, then started laughing "There is no curse my Lord, you simply grew old!' And then Lion finish him

The Son of the Forest book really shows how insidious Chaos Corruption is, Seraphax genuinely thinks he is using chaos for the good of humanity and doesn't realize that Chaos is misleading him into killing the emperor for their own gain. His Plan is completely Logical from his perspective and chaos only needs to twist his mind in tiny ways to get him to do their bidding, whilst he still thinks he's loyal

I'm convinced the soul removal thing is the reason he was in a coma for 10,000 years. I think Luthur knocked the Lion's soul from his body and it was sent back to the warp. That's why his body aged because it was simply an empty shell. When he came to, it was the Emperor who was fishing (which was a metaphor) to pluck the Lion's soul from the warp and put him back into his body.

I think what lion means by being less secretive is that he's now telling his inner circle the truth of things and that's what spooking them. They are being shown what he was hiding.

I love the idea of the Risen keeping their old Great Crusade and Horus Heresy era armour, it gives them a bit of a difference to the 40K era Dark Angels, plus the black and red colour palette is much more Dark Angels than their Forest Green colour for the regular Astartes. Also the Lion's reaction to seeing Dante's Deathmask is so similar to Dante's reaction to seeing that one Necron Lord (I think it was Szarekh but I can't remember) who also had a Deathmask as a show of respect to Sanguinius,

THEORY For the last 10k years the Emperor has been working on creating this massive interconnected forest in the warp which is why he was so inactive for so long, his mind was busy in the warp making his NEW Web Way. And when the lion returned he gifted it to him so that the Emporium could slowly get used to using it until eventually he comes back and gives it to the wider Emporium. Shit would be wild

Here me out, Avengers type of scene " Ultramarines are overwhelmed, and RG is about to go down. Overwhelming mists come out into the battlefield. "QUE epic music" Lion and His Dark Angels come through the mist. Saves RG, who says no words as lion and him clasp hands as lion picks him up. No words have to be said as they now know they're not alone. Obviously, there is a sick scene as RG lights the sword, and the lion slams his shield forward. QUE more epic Music. They turn to confront the xeno or chaos scum threat. Then , the 2 primarchs go on an absolute spree using the shield and sword in tandem take down the threat. Super sploosh humanity moment " For the emperorrrrrr!!!

Honestly I don't mind waiting a little longer for new Lion lore because A) If the Lion fights Abaddon, the writers will have an aneurysm trying to figure out who's plot armor is heavier and no matter who they choose the fans will be disappointed. And B) I'm still waiting for my god. damn. Votann lore. It's been *two years* GW!

It’s kind of odd that guilliman got the sword, and not the lion. I thought it was pretty well established that the lion was the greatest swordsman of the primarchs

As with all things, we must wait until Black Library commissions another novel with the Lion. However, since their priorities are always dictated by their parent companies need to have books that tie in with whatever update is coming out, we may not see anything with the Lion anytime soon.

The fact that we have only one Lion novel at this point is borderline criminal… not like GW leave that much potential revenue on the table.

Personally I'm quite underwhelmed by the Lion's return. We're 2 books in and we don't have any meaningful line of dialogue between the Lion and any previously established Dark Angels character, like Azrael, Cypher, Asmodai, etc. or even Guilliman. Zero in the books, I don't know if there's any in the codex. He had more interaction with Blood Angels characters, what kind of narrative choice is that? Also the Lion seems to be happy to fight inconsequential battles on backwater planets with zero impact on the grand scale of the galaxy. The fight with Angron was cool, but ultimately he managed to banish him for a couple of weeks ( mere mortals had accomplished the same before) and lost the planet anyway, failing to prevent Vashtor's ritual. Compare it to Guilliman: from the start he had many interactions with his gene sons, took proactive decisions for the Imperium, and his actions impacted the setting as a whole with the primaris and indomitus crusade stuff. I would have expected the return of the Lion, a candidate to warmaster, one of the primarchs Horus feared most during the heresy, the one that walked among his brothers as an apex predator according to Malcador, the one with most conquered worlds during the crusade, the one that took care of the Rangdan AND the Krave, and that bitchslapped Kairos the Fateweaver, to have a larger impact on the galaxy. Also I found the Lion's change of character too abrupt and unnatural, he does not change and develop during the story, he just wakes up as a different man basically.

Now I need the equivalent of Dark Imperium but for the Lion. Thank you
