Mixed feelings on it, I'll probably talk about it soon. I do have a spot in the race if I'm ready.

@@ChristianRunsNY I also qualified but am also undecided. The NYC humidity this year sidetracked my training. Not sure if I’m up to it. But maybe see you there.

Welcome back Christian! I also started building mileage this week as I try to break 2 hour HM this November

Awesome, best of luck! It's such a fun barrier to break, that's what sucked me in when I started.

If the hamstring is still an issue I would not run uphill at all. That will aggravate it and please do not stretch your hamstring. A high hamstring strain takes a long time to heal I’m sorry to say. Speaking from experience. Good luck and fast healing.

It’s not actually the hamstring muscle. It’s the tendons up by the glute where the hamstring meets the bone. At least that’s what I’m being told and generally agree with in terms of how it has felt. It’s been this pesky soreness for almost a year now. No PT or doc really has had any answers for me yet which is why I ended up choosing some time off myself.

@@ChristianRunsNY yes where the hamstring meets the sit bone is a high hamstring strain. Do you have pain or discomfort while sitting? This is one sign of a HHS. This often caused by hill sprints. So any running up hills will aggravate the strain. Often with this issue people think stretching the hamstrings will help, but stretching is the worst thing you can do as it will increase the micro tears in ligament. This injury is very difficult to heal. The general rule I have learned is that tendons need load to heal. The general rule is if the pain is 3 and under during the run and 24 hours later the pain is 2 or under it’s ok to run. If not then rest is best, but again rest won’t heal the injury as the tendon needs to heal via load. I’ve had this issue for many months and know people who have felt with this injury for years. My wish for you it is not a HHS but from what I’ve have learned it sure sounds like it. Anyway I wish you the best and truly understand how frustrating this injury is. Good luck.

welcome back!!! was psyched to see your video on my recommended. Keep it going, hope the tendon issues do go away. Maybe time to see a doc or physical therapist?

I've done PT on it and had scans. Really all that's been suggested so far is lift and do some specific workouts and run as I can manage.

hey man - have you tried a sports chiropractor that specializes in runners? thats where I landed after failed stuff w PT and seen more success that way. I think it takes an athlete / runner to fix a runner if that makes sense. They will identify any imbalances you have going on and get you a "fresh start" (not a fix by any means, but something to go off of and improve from a clean slate)@@ChristianRunsNY

Local used-to-be full farm Called Stony Kill Farm. Now the land is owned by the state and the keep animals on site as well as rent plots to local people looking to grow flowers, vegetables, etc. Open to the public, it's a nice place that actually has some light trails too.

Welcome back Christian. Best to Frankie for a swift recovery. Looking forward to seeing your next race endeavor. I'll be sad not to run in NYC Marathon this year, but others to try.
