Make sure to try and get the kittens nuter because its going to get all crazy with cats. I just fixed a mess out where I live the neighbor feeds strays and ive had to tale in 3 kittens to were abandoned by their mama. Now one of those babirs had babies lorddd🤦🏻 I fixed almost everyone. Best to get help from local spay/nuter for free all you have to do is trap the cats.
When the kittens I adopted were still young they were licking the milk off my finger but couldn't figure out to drink out of the bowl so I had to forcefully put their mouths in the milk to let them know😂
We just got a little gentleman, finally convinced the parents. He keeps walking me over to his food bowl so I wanna make sure we're feeding him right. Thank you!!
MOUREEN AYAD oooo my kitten is still 3 weeks old :3 but remember, never give your kitten human milk, your kitten is too young to eat solid food, there’s this thing at your local market, ask one of the staff for kitten milk. What breed is your cat??
If he didn’t eat don’t force feed him, my cat did the exact same thing, it wasn’t used to it’s home, remember just whenever you give your kitten milk, don’t stare at it while it’s drinking, it could cause stress and anxiety, it will feel like it’s being watched 24/7, when your kitten goes behind the couch then let him, it’s their way of getting a free tour of the house, also NEVER give your kitten belly rubs because cats hate it! Maybe a little scratch under the chin that won’t hurt , play hard to get with your cat and in no time, it will be clinging up to u, that’s all the info I have, hope it helped!
Tip: set several plates out with small amounts like bite size and fill as needed until they are done less mess and you can see who is eating what and how much
Thank you Kitten Lady for this excellent video, especially the part at 2:05 about mixing in the dry kitten food gradually, this helped with my two kittens runny tummy problems after only 2 days, thank you so much! 😊😊😊
My 6-7 week old kitten is already such a great eater but wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Just introduced her to kitten kibble today, softened it a bit with water. Thanks for the uploaded!
My grandfather found a kitten and he's not going away from the house so I requested my grandpa to keep it. It's meows are the sweetest sounds I ever heard!
We found a feral kitten in our shed, it’s mama didn’t come back. We’re keeping it in our camper for now. I love it so much but we’re probably going to give it away. It’s so lovely and sweet. Didn’t even scratch bite or hiss at us. We think it was lonely and it followed us. It’s so sweet. It’s a lovely calico. One side of its face is black and the other one is brownish/orange. It has blue eyes and it’s so cute.
This is helping a lot. My cat recently gave birth three weeks ago and is unable to feed them due to mastitis so i have to take over and ive never had to bottle feed kittens before or anything so im glad i found this. Ty❤️
Hey Zoey, I am so glad that you found this video helpful! Let me know if you have any more questions, and thanks for taking care of those little ones! It's not easy work I know...
i found a kitten crying in front of our door. i cant ignore her but i don't have the right foods for her. so I'm here! I'mma take care of this kitten 🥰
Thanks for the advice. A very friendly stray cat here in my apartment block has had 4 adorable kittens. Despite being spring it’s been really cold and so I put them in a box with a blanket and brought them and mum cat inside. Guess I have a new cat! She’s a good mum but I’ve not raised kittens from birth so I found your video quite helpful. Solid food fun coming!
I did the same last month , the kitten is 4 weeks now. But keep watching. These videos I’d say. They are very informative and tell you everything you need to know.
Yea I’m pretty sure they don’t like that let them explore their food on their own when they get hungry enough they’ll find it and eat it that’s what I do right now my kittens are lapping up their formula so I let them taste it on my finger to let them know what it is and once they know what it is they lead right to where their little bowl is and drink it I never suggest putting a cat face in there they might become frantic and scared And then they associate eating food or u near them while eating with a scary experience and then it probably won’t work But this doesn’t happen to all kittens but most kittens esp if thyre shy
Bottle feeding 5 kittens now. Lady found them in a ditch at 2 weeks old and we have been caring for them for 3 weeks now. We strictly bottle fed them until 4 weeks and then introduced fancy feast kitten food mixed with formula. They are 5 weeks now and almost entirely eating on their own but we do have one hold out that seems to want to be bottle fed his 5-6 times a day AND eat his solid portion. We think it’s a comfort thing because he doesn’t seem interested in the actual formula just the sucking motion. My concern is over eating because their bellies are hard and round almost constantly now. They are gaining steadily except the runt who likes to gain, lose, gain, lose, gain, lose. His overall progress is a steady climb but not as hearty as his brothers or sister. He doesn’t seem to mind though. He can be just as vicious as his siblings despite his size.
Hi! It sounds like you guys have done an amazing job raising these bottle babies. And that is no easy feat! It's common for the runt to make a slow progress behind the others, and also to crave "the nipple" more, too. I would continue to syringe feed him for a few more weeks while also encouraging him to eat the canned food. Maybe try feeding him the canned food alone, so he doesn't have to fight with his older siblings. Have you been able to give the kittens any dewormer? At 5 weeks, a small dose of Strongid is fine, and you can buy it online. Dose is .2 ml per pound, repeating every 2 weeks for about a month. The hard, round bellies could be a sign of worms. As long as they are all gaining weight (some faster than others is to be expected), are active, alert, and pooping okay, you should be on track!
My little Ember scares me lol. When she sees the bottle, she turns. She becomes a real beast 🤣. She's only about 4 weeks, and was abandoned. I'm hoping to eventually convince her that food isn't going anywhere haha.
how much can food do you give the kittens? we normall give them the entire small can and small dry food mixed in. They eat on their own, we just make sure they have clean water and food daily. We only give them one can a day daily, more like a treat and leave out dry food all day. We have two kitten btw.
How often do you feed a 6 week old kitten with canned+dry mix? Is there a schedule you follow or do you just leave them large portion of food until they finish it?
Hello! At six weeks I usually feed 4-5 times a day. If they act hungry (following me around meowing) I will give them more. At this age they are able to go longer between meals, but always keep an eye out to watch if any are losing weight. After two months I go to feeding "big" meals twice a day with kibble snacks once or twice in between. Thanks for the question and good luck with your kittens!
@@KittenSchool hello i have a almost 2 month old kitten and i only feed her dry food and water/milk but i leave them always available and switch the water/milk every 3 hours should i change that? And only feed her every 4 hours?
I feed my youngest in an area just to herself, she's about six weeks...she gets fed about 5x a day. I add about 2Tblsps of water to the bowl (for extra hydration) like a moat around the food; all my babies get extra water that way and it works well.
I fed my kittens liquid whiskas, but they literally jumped inside the bowl..I got no idea how they ate but at the end they got fully wet 🤭 their whole body smells of tuna
Taking care of a mama cat an her 3 and 2 adopted kittens. They are 4 week old, but look small for the age. They are still nursing. Thanks for the tips. They are getting round bunting
Not to be a know it all but I have had many experiences with both kittens and puppies the only way to prevent diarrhea is to not switch foods very often and to wean them properly by mixing some of their formula into their canned food and little by little just keep adding more and more canned food each day and then eventually just don’t have any formula in there and just let them eat the wet canned food And then let them eat just straight canned food for about a week or two so their tummies can get digested to it and then After a couple weeks of just canned food then you can introduce hard food once their teeth and stuff growing you can do this by doing the same thing I mentioned above by mixing a little dry food in with her wet food and then eventually working your way to just dry food but it is important for kittens to have wet food that way they can get more moisture from the canned food cats need a lot of moisture and water Good luck to all the kitty parents out there !! :) it worked for my kittens doing it this way and they haven’t had diarrhea at all jus reg poops lmao❤️
Great video! One of my kittens won’t eat the wet food like his siblings. He still wants mothers milk 🙄 so I see that I’ll have to syringe feed him formula so he won’t loose too much weight. But I have a question, how often should I feed them solid foods? & how many hrs in between each meal?
I was going adapt my cousin's cat's baby after it starts eating solid food.but today that mama cat died.so I have to adapt it right now.that's why I am watching this. RIP fluffy (the mama cat) 😭
our mother cat died after giving birth and because of the covid 19 lockdown all pets store are close...i bottled feed them with formula milk....more than 1 week now.
Very helpful! I adopted 2 abandoned kittens, I think they're 3-4 weeks old. One is a survivor, she drinks milk and climbs up anywhere, while the other one is always sleeping and dislikes drinking milk. I don't know how and what to feed him as I'm a first time cat mom!
I didint give my kitten wet food. When she was 5 weeks old, I just gave half of her bottle milk + some dry food mixed with water lol I didn’t view any YT videos. Just googled the amount of grams per day needed. It worked pretty well. She’s 6-7 weeks old now but still prefers her bottle milk over anything 😂😂 I’m gonna give her the milk until she’s 2 months old and then stop it completely.
i'm dealing with a three-week old kitten and her stray mom. thank you for this info. it's my first time to ever experience having a pet and phew~ i thought it was easy but yeah i'll do my best 😅
I am watching this video cuz almost 1 and half month ago I got blessed with an unknown visitor cat (Lilie)who came to our home and lived with us and also gave birth to a really cute baby around 20 days ago.. and now she is no more because of her unfortunate death and I am feeling really very worst I just cant sleep I am missing my Julie alot ...i want to take care of her baby and I want to take care of the baby same as her mama.... please bless my baby may may baby kitten live longer than me I can't see her death like her mother in front of me l🙏🙏🙏😭😭
so how many cans of wet cat food do i feed my cat a day? do i feed them 1 can a day and that can i separate it into 4?where do i store wet cat food after it has been open? pls i have so many questions😢
Even though I don't have cats I still love watching your videos and I'm still trying to make friends with the cat in the garden(I don't know if you remember me!)and It is slowly starting to trust me. Now I'm able to go out and put a little bit of food in the tray when the cat is still in the garden, but it doesn't allow me to get near it and only eats when I'm gone back inside.also it doesn't look at me as much when it is eating. *is this a good sign?* before it used to keep looking at me every second while eating
funny cat13 : The less a feral cat looks at you the less nervous of you it is. So it’s a good sign. Don’t rush into petting attempts though. It can take a truly feral cat 2-3 years to learn to trust even a friendly human that feeds it. Although ones that were abandoned pets can learn trust a lot quicker.
Hi Funny, Yeah, I remember you. Yeah, everyday you can sit as far away as you can where the cat will eat. You can look over at the cat, but if he or she looks back, go back to minding your own business. Remember, at a certain point the cat will figure out that you MIGHT BE THERE to watch out for enemies, that you are on His or Her Side. Anyway, you START at however far away it takes, BUT everyday sit just a few inches closer. In just a few months you will be sitting almost within reach of them. Oh, I've been with Ferals who would let me be within One Arms Reach, but would step back if I was able to get TWO Hands on them. They somehow KNEW that it would take two hands to pick them up. Oh, see how the Cat acts towards you. Remember the saying, "When in Rome Do as the Romans Do". Well, that means that you are allowed to look over at the cat as often as it looks at you. If it hears something and looks quickly in that direction, YOU TOO. You can talk. Let the Cat know that you see the same thing it sees. It might take a while, but the cat will eventually realize that you are Talking and that the Words Mean Something. Remember, cats and Humans are Symbiotic Species, we are like Brother and Sister Species, that evolved together. So WE understand Cats and Cats Understand Us, more than you can imagine. For instance, just think how different it would be with a raccoon or a badger. Oh, if you ever get a Momma Cat in the backyard, then you will get kittens, and no matter HOW MUCH the Mother still distrusts you, well, the kittens won't be convinced. You see Kittens have EVOLVED to Accept Human Socialization. Little Cats, at a certain age are receptive to Human Beings. One of the Cats now living in my house is the Daughter of the Meanest Feral I ever knew.... but, well, after I became close friends with her daughter, she lightened up too. Anyway, Funny, you keep at it.
@@funnycat1333 Oh, Hi Funny. Oh, by the way, did you see me struggling not to use Big Words? But heck with it. You Kids can become real EXPERTS on stuff and so you might as well get used to using all the Big Words that go with it.
that helpful bcs i found 4 kittens in the street outside my house for 2 days and the mother never came so i putted them in my garden with a box that has a fluffy blanket and now i can see what they eat bcs they have been starving
Hi! So I have some almost 4-week old kittens and they are confidently eating slurry (I received them from the shelter and the kittens don’t seem to like anything other than the slurried meat. I’ve had problems, though, because they are absolutely a mess. Any tips on kitten cleaning during the messy weaning period?? 😅
I also make a gruel with the kitten wet food and formula and after a week of that i start adding some dry kibble to the gruel, then start reducing the formula in the gruel with water and leave out some water at play time, at six weeks I start using less liquid in the wet food and leave dry kibble in a bowl,,
Am watching because my kitten died this morning. I never got to know what went wrong, She was a dark fluffy young, playful like what am seeing in the video. I bought it from a friend who birthed two. She just started shaking and before I knew it, she went cold. We were feeding her on minced meat, little mice, bottle fed flesh milk
I saw a stray kitten at night ( Maybe two months old )( I think she doesn't have mom ) And when I saw her right now she looks very weak ( I am thinking of adopting her ) she needs help and I have no idea how to take care of her
Lovely video again. I'd like a rescue kitten but our older female cat doesn't get on with other cats at all so it's not possible . Any suggestions you may have would be great....best wishes from Adrian in Sheffield South Yorkshire England 😀😺
Ours are now at around 5 five to six weeks old, and for whatever reason they chose to eat their mom's dry food instead of the wet food we especially got for the kittens 😅 they tend to prefer to whatever they see their mom is having
My kitten is about 6-7 weeks and she doesnt seem that interesting in drinking water but eats her wet food very well. Any suggestions or input on whether this is typical for a young kitten or not? Thanks so much!! Great video!
@@ForeverAutumn77 hey!! So I found out... I've been feeding my kitten wet food which hydrates her and also she started drinking water, she was afraid cause she was a stray! So I'd say give it time and if you're feeding the kitten wet food, that's hydrating them!
@@forjusticeandtruth Oh wow, I never thought of that! I feed my kitten wet food as well. I am thinking about including dry food for his diet as well! Thanks for the update!
I have a 5 week old kitten who isn’t very keen on water right now, and won’t bottle feed or let me use a water dropper to give it to her. I’ve been putting water in her wet food to try and help. Any recommendations?
Water mixed in with wet food is the best idea to keep hydration up if the Kitten refuses water. As long as it is clean and the bowl isnt some sorta oddity the kitten doesnt like, just continue. If he/she is gaining weight and seems healthy...You are doing fine. Lots of cats in general arent big on water drinking.
I rescued a pregnant cat and we now have three 5 week old kittens! The boy kitten started eating the kitten food a week ago but the mother pushes in and eats it up despite having her own bowl! It seems like she still wants to keep feeding them all and he wants to feed from her still also so I’m just giving him small amounts for the time being away from her.
#HELP!!!! : What a 3-4 week old kitten eats? Can i give NESTLE CERELAC? Or boil chicken? Please help in my country their is no kitten food available!😣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 PS: HELP URGENTLY!😭
3 - 4 times a day - wet food with kitten milk - self made chicken, cooked and crushed. i mix my kitten food with a bit of kitten food from the shop. once a week 1 raw egg and coconut oil inside the dish - I have 4 kitten now.....
@@SuperBotanica , Hi... We rescued two kittens. We have had them a few weeks. Based on videos, they seem to be around the five week mark. We have been feeding them just KMR out of the can. We are first-time kitten fosters. They are now eating about 1.25 tablespoons about every 3 to 4 hours. Will they be okay if we keep this routine for another week or two? At about eight weeks, we'll work with the shelter to have them adopted. They are fast little runners and cute as heck.
@@daverose9987 - the kitten will love cooked chicken meat - put it on a plate mixed with goat milk or greek yoghurt. let them eat how much they want. 4 times a day should be enough from 5 weeks on
I have a 4 week old kitten rescued from the neighborhood, bc her mother died. I do not belong to a well-to-do family, so I cannot assure to have her a well maintained diet. Any tips on a home made kitten food or milk?
