I have resident cat Westside and two new kittens. After we introduced them things were ok, but Westside was not cool with the kittens using his litter boxes. I have 4 litter boxes. Turns out the two kittens are sick with Giardia and also ringworm. The kittens are now secluded to one of the bedrooms while they get better and we will just need to start from scratch. Thankfully Westside didn’t catch either Giardia or ringworm. Trying not to stress. Focusing on getting the kittens 100 percent healthy, still giving lots of love and attention to Westside. This is really challenging. Thanks for the video. ❤
Hey question my boy he’s 10 months has been play fighting quite rough with my husband since a baby now we have a new 9 week old kitten he is rough with her he tries to tackle her and bite her neck we separate him doing that and he backs off and lays down or even just walks away and watches her from about a foot away but then will do it again if not monitored with me sitting right inbetween them. Is this normal is this hurting her? And a she too young still? She doesn’t hiss or yelp when this happens and sometimes it looks delicate but sometimes he gets Carrie away I think due to the rough and tumble he’s been doing with my husband. How can I address this? TIA
I’m so relieved to know there’s other with a lot of cats. I have 6 and the hair is crazy. I don’t even like cooking anymore because it’s so bad. I can wipe everything down and it’s back the same way the next day. But I don’t vacuum everyday, and I need to get into that routine. But I work and I’m tired and it’s hard. Lol but great advice. Thank you.
Found some poor babies out in the 120 degree heat, skinny with crusty eyes and nose. I have distilled water, droppers, and cotton pads. I’m flushing out and wiping their eyes but there’s no way to get antibiotic ointment without a vet in California :( Hoping their eyes will get better without it🤞
With this kitten I recently rescued I tried everything and nothing was helping. Finally I had to just wrap him up in a blanket like a purrito and force love on him until he finally gave up fighting and realized he wasn't dying. Now he comes to me and purrs and wants to make biscuits.
I've owned cats my whole life and I have to be honest they were a nightmare to deal with. I still bear scars from 30 years ago on my face for getting too close.
Maybe i did something bad, and i'm scared i can't do it back?? I bringed home a 2 month kitty to my 7 month kitten (both female) and i let the older one see her, even let the new cat sleep in my room on the first 2 night (in her box). My old cat hissing a lot, but not attack. My house is too small to separate them, and when i tryed, the new kitten couldn't stop crying alone. I don't know what to do in this case. Like is it okay to keep the new kitten in the older's one teritory, but in the box? (Only at night time).
Any tips for kittens who are still being socialized? I have 5 kittens, 13 weeks, 3 are hams but 2 are scared. They have ringworm so I really needed this video, thanks for showing me how to do the baths! Just scared of getting them to cooperate 😂
I am 80 with cronic health problems about 4 -weeks ago 3-kittens we’re on my patio mother nowhere in site. I took them in to care for them after day two because they were starving I bought domesticated kitten milk and started feeding them right away I noticed they all have ringworm and found your channel on how to treat it. I’ll keep you posted.
Where have you been "Kitten School!?" This last video was a year ago! I hope that you are ok! Could you please possibly do even a short video to let us know that (hopefully) you are ok, & what you've been up to!? I'm sure that I speak for many, that we Really miss all of your content!
"New kittens need socialization and can't be left alone for long periods of time" "Give your existing cat full access to the entire house and lock up kitten" 😂
My 9 year old is horrible with baths. Sometimes, he doesn't yell and scream so much. I rescued him from the shelter when he was 7 years old, and he has had at least 6 or 7 baths now in the entire time I've had him so he should be getting used to being in water by now. 😂 I have to give him baths because he has dry skin, and he flakes a lot regardless of drinking water and eating a good kibble. I have allergies to cats. My pulmonologist told me that I should get rid of him to save my asthma, but I can't do that because we are super glue bonded to each other. So giving him a bath here and there is the better option.
We just caught a kitten a couple days ago... They're rather spicy.. I've kept them in the restroom for about 24 hrs now, with food, water, plenty of comfy places to sleep, a toy, and a temp litter box. I'm worried, because the kitty will freezes and shakes when I come into the room. I spend several hours a day in there already, as it's where my laptop is, so... I'll be spending several hours a day with it in there. (I say "it", because I've no idea what their gender is) I hope these methods work for the new kitty we've acquired. The reason we caught the kitty, is because during the day here, it's 110°+F, and it's just not safe for the kitty to be outside...
I really want to get a 2nd cat but my current cat kind of has a biting and scratching problem with me and no matter how many videos I watch and tactics I try he still does it sometimes. Im afraid he’d do that with a little cat too so I want to be very cautious cause he is only a year old so maybe he sees it as playing and will mellow out when he gets older but he is my first cat so maybe I am not handling him correctly but I want to give him a little sibling but im nervous he would attack a little sibling.
I started adding pumpkin puree and Forti flora probiotics to my kittens food, and she is pooping normally now. And I learned how to bath her and used the diaper cream.
how many times a day are u supposed to do this? I just ordered saline solution and am going to go pick it up. My cat is really congested right now and the vets are closed. He has to open his mouth in order to breath.
I have a female cat like this. She has a lot of fear and I suspect she may have been abused before we got her. I've been very very patient and kind and loving toward her. She has been coming out of summer for fears but she's very timid. I spend time with her quite often and she's responding to me better now, even purring. She's beginning to enjoy it also. In the beginning she wouldn't even eat food if I was in the room. Now she will. Sometimes I wonder how long it would take to help her get rid of all that fear. Yet I'm encouraged because she is making progress in the presence of me showing a lot of loving-kindness toward her.
Thank you! I ordered some KMR and will be feeding my adorable tabby runt named Desi. I rescued his mama Lucy and brother Pepe. 3 other kittens dissapeared. Oh my heat are runts the sweetest kittens, I spayed Lucy this week, once kittens are bigger and healthier I will get them fixed! One mama off the streets!
I have a 1-year-old male cat that I’m trying to introduce to a new 2-month-old female kitten. My male cat doesn’t hiss or growl, but he has been biting the kitten’s neck, and I can’t tell if it’s play, aggression, or aggressive play that my adult cat can’t control. The little kitten hisses and tries to fight back, but I can’t figure out what my male cat is trying to do. Do you have any advice? When should I draw the line? I’m worried that my male cat might accidentally or intentionally hurt the kitten by overusing his strength.
Very helpful I’m going through the process now.. the eldest boy is being stubborn and won’t come indoors, runs away when he see the new baby girl kitten ❤
I’m using a similar technique to try to socialize an older kitten who was completely feral. I just got him today, right after his neuter, but he’s been in foster a couple of months. If I hadn’t taken him he would have ended up someone’s barn cat, which is better than what could have happened to him, but he’s just too beautiful to spend the rest of his life in a barn! He came a long way in foster and does well with other cats and even dogs. He’s terrified of people, though, as he was completely feral and being chased by kids throwing rocks when he was rescued. Who could blame him for not trusting people? He does love treats and catnip so I plan to use those to my advantage in the coming days. Right now he’s in a very large kennel with a blanket over it. It’s in a central location. He has a soft bed, food and water, and a small litter box. I sprinkled the catnip on his bed, in hopes that it might help to calm him, and left him a couple of catnip treats there as well. My other animals have come in one by one to sniff around his kennel. They can’t see each other. Going to give him a day or so before I start lifting the blanket for short periods. He’s been through a lot in his short life. I don’t want to overwhelm him. Also, the others will need time to get accustomed to him. I’m in it for the long haul! His name is Blaze. He’s a gorgeous flame point Siamese with beautiful blue eyes. Please say a prayer for us that he’s able to overcome his past!🙏🏻
Thanks for making the video! Especially the recipe for the WHO electrolyte solution. Having what you did, how, and with the amount was so helpful. We have two kittens that we need to keep hydrated.
